    Hi

I have exactly the same problem

I am interested to know if you were able to sort it?

Assuming you are referring to the original post about sunlight? ... I had to make a hood to go over the front half of it to provide shade. Impossible to see anything in direct sunlight, whereas my POD HD500 is no problem to see in sunlight ??? They missed the boat in the design department about using this controller outside in the sunlight.

Hey Psark ... I live very rural on a gulf island, west coast Canada. Taking it to a service centre in Vancouver is not realistically possible (too far, too expensive, three ferries etc.) and sending it by courier both ways is expensive but it would be the only way I would consider, coupling it to the cost of the service would be very expensive. I would try anything first that I can do myself. Neck relief and action is fine. All Piezo's work. If I could just turn those adjustment screws and move the saddles I'd be happy. I did intonate string 2. String 1's saddle is definitely too far back. I am hoping some penetrating oil might free that adjustment screw, but like I said, I think it is fused to the saddle?

Another question ... are the Line 6 Li-Ion batteries available now? Yamaha Canada said ~8-12 weeks from time of order?

  3.

Recently received a used 2014 JTV69. Noticing the intonation is off on strings 1-2-3. New Elixer 10's. On saddle 1 & 3 I absolutely cannot turn the position adjustment spring loaded screw. It is as if they have fused to the saddle? (they may have never been adjusted in the past?). Don't know what to do? Any suggestions?

Is it possible to buy just the new saddles (and screws) for this guitar without having to replace the entire bridge assembly? Not entirely sure how to remove the piezo saddle without damaging it? Not sure how long that wire is?

    Hey Psark,

As per your list of contacts in Canada (post on 4/26/23) for Line 6 parts I wanted to update you on a few things.

    1) Still trying to hear from Yamaha Canada.

    2) Backline Musician Services ... have terminated their service component and can no longer get any Line 6 parts.

    3) Briere Production Group ... the email provided is dead (bounced) and a call to them said they have no idea what Line 6 is .... thinking the number was changed to another business.

    4) Em-Tech ... phone number out of service.

    5) Long & McQuade still in business and trying to contact Yamaha about parts.

I am looking for a second Variax battery and possible an XPS-AB if they are still available. Are batteries now available?

Since the Line 6 Store will not ship to Canada what are my other options??

I see some Variax batteries on Amazon (from China) that will ship to Canada but they are not Line 6. I know you don't like non Line 6 products but ... if I can't get a line 6 product, I have no other option?

Ah, right, sorry. I see you are outside the USA. See if one of these can get you one.

    Hey Waymda,

Thank you for your reply. Much appreciated.

As I dug deeper into the research on this matter I too found out that the Helix does not auto map the matching DT parameters to the amp models (as the POD HD does) which I was expecting from the Helix ... especially given the cost of this beast. But I do understand the reality of the DT "legacy component" and that Line 6/Yamaha aren't going to put much accommodation into that equation. Call me old school but the DT and POD integration is such a marvel (and truly unique) design concept. I am getting "what I need" from that rig and I just bought a JTV69 (for the fun of it). The old adage of "if it ain't broke don't fix it" may apply in my case?

I do like the onboard editing and preset generation of the Helix. So far above the old POD's and yes ... the amp models are definitely up a notch along with some added effects (love the Minotaur for example) and the additional parameter settings within the new EFX ... but in my case, hard to justify the cost. The Helix alone eclipses the cost of my 2 DT25/Cab rigs !!! I am going to experiment a bit more with it to see if I can find a reason to keep the Helix? Evolving technology is an addictive beast.

Our little band is still guitar amp based with a small PA. Can't go the tech route you have in place (in-ears, Helix direct to PA, etc. etc) but I totally understand the concept.

Since I have two DT25's I am going to do a live A-B test comparison with the Helix-DT and POD-DT with similar (or relative same) amp models to see if I really need to sell my car and buy the Helix ... lol. I'll match the DT output configurations with the Helix per preset used in the tests (found out how to do it). I will also try the Amp/Cab models as well as just Amp and Pre-amp in the Helix for comparison. I have read that many do prefer the Amp/Cab models to the DT vs the technically appropriate Pre-Amp models which is what I use in the POD.

I have 30 days to keep or return the Helix. We'll see what happens. I may post an aftermath reply to this thread when all the smoke clears.

    Thanks again.

  6. I have a Helix Floor with updated firmware to 3.60.0 - e171dae. I also have a Pair of DT25’s Head and Cab both amps are firmware 2.0 and connected together with L6 Link. I currently run them with a POD HD500. Everything behaves as expected.

I L6 Linked out of the Helix to the first DT25 in the chain and then scrolled through a bunch of amps (both with and without cabs plus the pre-amp models). Unlike my POD 500 HD, the Helix does NOT change any of the settings to the right of the Channel Volumes (Topology, Class, and Tube Bias). Also, when I bypass the Amp Model in the Helix, the DT25 does not switch to Channel B. (as it does with the POD).

What am I missing here? My understanding (which might be incorrect) is that the Helix should control the relevant DT25’s parameters when changing amp models as does the POD HD?

Hi Silverhead (I am in BC).

Understood about the lack of PM on this forum.

I am chasing down some JTV-69s. Just want to make sure I don't make any mistakes especially if they are getting shipped in from the US, like brokerage cross border fees, duty, etc.

As far as that interface you mentioned I have included 2 pix ... from two different guitars I am chasing. One pnly has one interface and the other has an additional power supply. Wondering if these are appropriate? Lastly do you know of any pitfalls buying from the US?1035019160_Screenshot2023-04-26at1_27_35PM.thumb.png.e56f5ddcb7263ba10972041172b040d7.png

  8.

So now ... here I am thinking about buying a used 2012 JTV-69 and I am thinking this might be a questionable move? That original 12 year old battery probably is on it's last legs and then I'd have a brick (or at best have to fork our for a new battery if I could even get one)? So how would you determine if the battery is in trouble in a case like this? Also, I am reading in some other threads that the Piezo's have a limited life span so yet another yellow to red flag about buying an older JTV? Am I thinking on the right level of concern here??

  9. I am sniffing at a used JTV-69. Haven't played one yet, going to see it Monday.

Serial is W12030702 .... indicating (from my research) that it is 2012 Korean made? Can anyone confirm this?

What I am looking for is that it has the upgraded logic board that I believe was introduced in the 2012 models?

Also, what is the current firmware for this model?

How can you tell what the current resident firmware is in the guitar? I have a feeling it has never been upgraded. Is it done through the Workbench Software?

Will this guitar work with the current Workbench HD software?

It seems the three JTV Variax models (59-69-89) come in around 8lbs +/- a bit on each? Correct?

The neck profiles are 89 thinnest, 69 basic C (similar to Strat & Tele but not "Modern C" which is a bit narrower and thinner), 59 chunkiest, more so than 69 .... am I correct here?

    Thanks,

  10. Hurghanico ... thanks for your response. I am going to revisit the experiment with one amp model and place a stereo delay after the amp model to see if I actually I do get stereo from it? I am pretty sure I have already tried it, and it didn't work, but I will post back after I try it again. I do NOT need two different amp models. If I can make one work and get stereo from some of the obvious effects (primarily Chorus and Delay) I'd be happy. I just did the two amp models (in parallel) as it seemed like the only way to get "stereo", although I did read the specs as you described which indicate you just need one amp model with the stereo effect placed AFTER the amp model (which makes total sense). Will report back.

  11. I am running dual preamps in the FX chain to get stereo from two DT25 amps using Line 6 Link. I believe you have to have two amp models for stereo? If that is NOT correct please let me know? All my effects are before the preamps and those that generate stereo (basically chorus and delay) seem to work. I did try putting both a Chorus and a Delay behind one amp model (before using dual) but it didn't seem to produce stereo?

With two amp models, the tone controls (including Drive and Channel Volume) on the POD only work for preamp A. Is there any way to have the POD control both amp models simultaneously?? BTW ... both preamp models are identical with identical settings. I have a feeling this is not possible but thought I would ask here. It is convenient at the gig sometimes to just lean down to the pod (instead of going to the actual amp itself) for amp tone tweaks when necessary.

  12.

    Update.

I managed to get this to work using a Digi 003 (for the midi interface, which I still have but never use), Mac OS Yosemite (10.10.5). The Digi drivers for the 003 are supported on Yosemite and Monkey 1.78 also runs. Monkey saw the DT25 and confirmed that the Firmware was already at 2.0. Bonus. Both my DT25 Heads are now confirmed at the same Firmware. Odd though, the Behringer XR18 did NOT work via the midi ports. The computer saw the XR18 by USB but Monkey did not see the DT25 through it.

The moral of the story is .... sometimes it pays off to keep some old gear around. I never saw myself using the 003 again but today it saved me having to buy a USB-Midi interface. BTW, the connection from the computer to 003 was via "Firewire" (the 003 is not a USB interface !!) ... yes, I keep an old computer around for that too.

    A "happy camper" today.

  13.

    Thank's for the info.

Wow .. so you can't even use the midi on the HD500 as an IO tool to the DT25 ?? Disconnect the Link just use midi cables?

I may have to acquire a midi interface. Sad to have to buy one for just that purpose? I don't use or need midi for anything else.

I do have a Behringer XR18 "Stage Box"  with midi IO, also some older Digidesign products (Digi 003 and Eleven Rack) both with Midi IO that might also work? If my (fading memory) serves me well, I think I may have used the 003 in the past to look at my first DT25 (I just bought another one used). I am not sure what firmware my first DT25 is at? The one I just bought is at 2.0. Is that the latest (possibly the last) version?

I am wanting to set up a stereo rig (part of the reason for the 2nd DT25) and I am assuming for the amps to work properly together they both should be at the same firmware? I will link them with a digital link cable as I do from the POD to the first DT.
