Wow! That was unnecessarily racist.
What are the next topics of discussion? Religion or politics?
Most people that live in the south are not like that stereotype.
I am from south of Atlanta and trust me, we ware this like a badge of honer not an offence. sorry if it bothered you or anyone else. Hey, we all should be able to laugh at our selves.

A Letter from the North Pole
I regret to inform you that, effective immediately, I will nolonger serve the States of Georgia, Florida, Virginia, West Virginia,
North and South Carolina, Tennessee, Mississippi, Texas,
Alabama, and Arkansas on Christmas Eve. Due to the
overwhelming current population of the earth, my contract
was renegotiated by North American Fairies and ElvesLocal 209. As part of the new and better contract I also get
longer breaks for milk and cookies so keep that in mind.
However, I'm certain that your children will be in good
hands with your local replacement, who happens to be my
third cousin, Bubba Claus. His side of the family is from
the South Pole. He shares my goal of delivering toys to
all the good boys and girls; however, there are a few
differences between us.
Differences such as:
1. There is no danger of the Grinch stealing your presents
from Bubba Claus. He has a gun rack on his sleigh and
bumper sticker that reads: "These toys insured by Smith
and Wesson."
2. Instead of milk and cookies, Bubba Claus prefers that
children leave an RC cola and pork rinds [or a moon pie]and some deer jerky on the fireplace. And Bubba doesn'tsmoke a pipe. He dips a little snuff though, so please havean empty spit can handy.
3. Bubba Claus' sleigh is pulled by floppy-eared, flyin'
coon dogs instead of reindeer. I made the mistake of
loaning him a couple of my reindeer one time, and
Blitzen's head now overlooks Bubba's fireplace.
4. You won't hear, "On Comet, on Cupid, on Donner and
Blitzen.." when Bubba Claus arrives. Instead, you'll hear,
"On Earnhardt, on Andretti, on Elliott, and Petty."
And the car horn of the "General Lee"
5. "Ho, Ho, Ho!" has been replaced by "Yee Haw!" And you
also are likely to hear Bubba's elves respond, "GIT-R-DONE!"
6. As required by Southern highway laws, Bubba Claus'
sleigh does have Yosemite Sam Mud Flaps on the
back with the words "Back Off."
7. The usual Christmas movie classics such as "Miracle on
34th Street" and "It's a Wonderful Life" will not be shown
in your negotiated viewing area. Instead, you'll see
"Boss Hogg Saves Christmas" and "Smokey and the Bandit IV"
featuring Burt Reynolds as Bubba Claus and dozens of state
patrol cars crashing into each other.
And Finally,
8. Bubba Claus doesn't wear a belt. If I were you, I'd
make sure you, the wife, and the kids turn the other way
when he bends over to put presents under the tree.
Sincerely Yours,
S. ClausJust thought I would share this with yall...Merry Christmas guy's-

I have one of them that I was given as collateral a couple years ago (I wouldn't have bought it, it's just not high gain enough for my tastes) used it at church for a few years and then the tubes exploded and I put some hotter tubes in it and it sounded way better, I should have gotten the hottest ones (not going to spend any more money on it).
I would try to turn the master up high and the channel volume up around 2-5 (get the cleanest sound you can) turn of boost (fat switch) set the tone knobs all half way. The alternative would be to run it like you would for more distorted sound and turn off the cabs in your presets...
I might give it a shot my self if I get a chance.
-
Nope. Went to a patch with no volume and no wah (no expression what so ever) in it and when you press the toe switch the same thing happens. No sound till reboot. It is definitely the flimsy design of the expression pedal with regards to the inner layout. You can feel the expression pedal flex and the inside of the unit as well. i looked on the bottom of the unit and think I found the problem. There's a huge "Made in China" sticker on it. Again, my fault, should have expected nothing different.
your unit is definitely defective ... I would return it for another....

Helix didn't make it to the gig! Turned it on this morning, full 1.04.1 update in place, presets restored, and sound output was shut off as soon as the wah pedal toe switch was pressed!! So to be clear for the support team: 1.01, 1.02, 1.03 AND 1.04 ALL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I used custom user patches as well as line 6 patches and ALL PATCHES HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM!!! I did some playing around and believe the problem to be in the flimsy foot pedal design on this thing. You know the one, that squeaks, rubs, feels like it's breaking! Yes' that's the one! If I reboot it and depress the toe switch with my hand it seems to be fine. If I stand up and use my foot it shuts off. Also occasionally it will work right after a reset as long as I keep my foot on the expression pedal. I rock it back and forth, engage/disengage, play for minutes and it stays on (if it works), but as soon as I take my foot off of the expression pedal and then try to use it again, when the toe switch is pressed it shuts off. Very strange. Good job line 6! Great collection of fake sounding amps and minimal effects, now all you have to do is get it to work!!! Good luck, mine is going back and I'll never buy anything over $400 from you again, but after this I don't think you'll be making stuff over $4-500 again! You found your niche', cheap, fake, crap.
when you say that it is when you push the toe switch i wonder if it is the setting in the switch functions under the switch control menu, if you go into that and see what the toe switch on exp is then you might see the problem could be it is set to some global setting that's not right

here is a bunch I found and some I made with rewirerz mix2 prog from free ones I found. I think the best one I made is the "GHK.wav" the other good one is the kp-cab-ir.wav someone made with a kemper that was posted on TGP

Thank you for reposting this, I thought I had read it, but then searched for it and got the standard "No results found" for every search I tried. Like I said this device is becoming a full time job. I can't see any access to any adjustable or "greasable" points without opening it up. The response I have gotten from Line 6 to my wah no sound post is the standard, "did you do everything exactly as posted, and if not the one step (which may be that I sneezed between step 3 and 4, which may have caused it all!" I will be using it one last time WITH update 1.04 for a charity event WITH many other musicians this weekend and if it does anything but work perfectly it will be sent back for a refund after letting every single person there see what a piece of lollipop line 6 is selling for $1500. This is even bad for Line 6 which is saying a lot because honestly I don't expect a lot out of any modeling company except that it produces a sound, it doesn't stop producing a sound, it doesn't break, it doesn't sound like complete garbage, it doesn't require hours of my own time for any amount of money under 2k, which lets face it, this does in every single aspect.

I really love my Helix, I think it sounds great!
try this one out tell me what you think: http://line6.com/support/topic/16678-check-out-my-new-preset-and-irs/?do=findComment&comment=122944
this one was my first atemt at a preset and I think I have gotten better
-
Like I said it sounds like to me that it is scrubbing the side of the opening not the pivot point making the sound, I will have to get on the floor and let someone else work it up and down to see if I can pin point the cause.
-
Bump!.... I can't believe any of you "know it all's" didn't ever answer this?!?!?! ;) :D
but seriously anyone try this or know?
-
I've made a few presets with multiple amps and paths and some different ways of switching them. if you check my post history I have shared them here you may or may not like them but they might give you some ideas on how to deal with this until the problem is dealt with

Don't fret my friends!!! GC still had not shown that the stock had been received in the main warehouse when mine was received in the store and I had preorderd and paid for it back in the beginning of August and I finally got mine the end of October... and a BIG YES as for it IS worth the wait!!! You won't be disappointed....
also it was more than 30 days past the first estimated availability but Line 6 had not given a release date either at that point.
-
Mine dose the same thing.... looks like only a few that have this problem.... I noticed that if I don't lean on the unit (like I do on my Vox Wha) it don't do it... but to answer your question I thought of using graphite like what is used in cameras. I posted a thread about this a wile back http://line6.com/support/topic/16433-exp-squeaks-when-i-put-my-foot-on-it-to-use-it/?hl=squeak
let me know if the graphite works...

What kind of L6Link routing options does the Helix have at the moment? I was hoping it would have, or eventually be capable of something comparable to the M20d
I saw where you started a topic on this but I haven't looked to see if there was any option for that... for that mater I am not sure what you are talking about on the M20D
-
took the plunge and bought a L2M today. Together with a good 110 ohm XLR cable.
Connected the Helix via the Line 6 link and am very dissapointed.
I must be doing something wrong.
The digital clipping is back on the mandarin and brittish amps. All the others are sounding harsh and far away from all the sounds I am hearing from other Helix users. Bought the Glenn delaunne patches and only the 5150 patch is comming a bit nearer but is still souding like a cheap transistor amp
My POD 500x and the DT25 amp sounding much better. This combination helix/l2m should at a minimum sound the same
So, what am I doing wrong?
(FW loaded again, stock patches via the headphone OK, NOK with the lm2)
Someone having an idea? I am running out....
did you set it to Pa / Reference?
-
I have a FCB1010 and have thought about the possibility to use it with Helix and utilize the expression peddles on it.
-
The reason I posted this was just to show the guy has an ear for tweaking these kind of units. The amplifier is just one he recently got he has an ax FXll also.. of course I don't know what the presets he made with it sound like because I don't have an ax FX two and haven't seen that he made a video like this but originally when I found him on the 11 rack presets forum he was making presets for the 11 rack and he made presets for every type of music in his preset pack,300 to 400 presets and they are all extremely well done.Well, I'm not sure you can make that guarantee. I would be VERY sorry to see Line 6 do that. As a non-metal head, every tone that guy played sounded identical to me (OK, I'm exaggerating somewhat). The presets in the HELIX have a nice blend of different styles. If you guys think this guy nails the metal tone (you guys would say tones, :)), then maybe he could put the metal presets together, but I have no interest in metal tones, so well done Line 6 for putting in a wide mix of styles in the presets.
:)
Of course. It's a mid to high gain package. But it's very well done. And although I agree that the wide mix of styles in the presets are a nice offer from Line 6, I still have to say that I cannot make any of the amps sound like the amps in the amplifire video. I might suck at editing, but I get these sounds on my Axe-Fx...pretty close, but not on the helix. So yeah, would be curios to see what Singtall could come up with:)
This is exactly what I was saying about the 11 rack, I am not a good tweaker as well but I have come up with what I think are some pretty decent sounding ones on the helix. I posted some here and one with an IR that I made myself but only got one response so I don't know how good it actually is or if it sucks.
I think you misunderstand. I don't do "drag and drop". I make patches from scratch all the time. I audition all amps, all cabs and if they are not sufficiant...IR's.
What I am trying to say is that Singtall made some really good sounding patches on the amplifire. If I could get them, I wouldn't use any of them exactly like he's done it, but I would be curious to see what he's done to the setup. But maybe it's not doable on a helix, and the amplifire is just a better unit for that kinda sound. That's of course possible:)
My thought is that the helix being newer hardware is probably better than anything you could get out there at this point, it's potential I don't think has been unlocked for many of us to see this the reason I posted the video was in hopes that possibly someone in charge could at least commission this guy to make some presets to show the abilities of the unit. not every engineer that worked on this unit I'm sure is a sound engineer or a really good tweaker, we see from the presets right?
It was the same thing with the 11 rack even the Sweetwater presets that were put out by Sweetwater for those who bought theirs from them were not near as good as the ones that Singtall created for it, the factory ones really were pretty horrible and I was not pleased when I went through them when I purchased the 11 rack.

does it have the same stiff type foam inside like the M20D bag it's hard to tell from the picture. I really like the bag for the M20D. the price is a little steep though... I hope to get it at a discount at GC around black Friday or Christmas. looks like there is enough room for 2 expression peddles in the outer case right? I really love my Helix.
-
Helix would be the same. If the VOLUME knob is maxed and your Merge > Mixer and Output blocks are set to unity, the signal should be unity all the way through (assuming you've set your Global Settings > Ins/Outs > Levels appropriately).
OK after reading all these posts I am even more confused than I already was. I have been using 2 L2M's (standing up with there level set to unity ie: 12 o'clock or at the notch or 50%) connected with the L6 link and haven't turned the big knob past the 9 o'clock position and have made no global changes in my Helix and that is extremely loud. so if you could possibly post some pix of the Helix display with the parameters your speaking of that would be very helpful.
Also as mentioned above "the balancing the different vol of presets" (on the 11 rack it was called "rig balancing" and there was a nice little menu for doing it) whats the best way to do this with the Helix?
-
Sounds good, the one with the GHK IR is remarkably better.
Just wondering... Where do the TBmix and Kmix IRs you've got in that zip come from?
There are a bunch of free rewirez IR's that I found plus other ones that were given out on the gear page by a dude named freeman also so more I found by just doing a Google search. The GKH I R is some that was called guitar hack or something like that and a keeper cabinet that someone gave out that they made from the keeper the other ones I'm not sure I just was dragging and dropping stuff from that folder into the MixIR2 program. Well running a loop of a little rhythm I was doing.
-
There are also two empty banks beyond the first to factory banks the second factory bank which I thought had some useful things or leaset let me see some of the stuff that Helix could do. It wasn't too bad and was only about half is full
-
There are two versions one is with factory cabs the other is with my custom IR I made with MixIR2 (from Redwires) from free IR's I found around the web. you have to put the one named GHK.wav (my fav) at Impulse #035 in your HELIX app.
the preset is called Clean, Dirt, Metal and you have a clean tone a rock tone and a metal tone all in one preset... let me know if you like it or not.
I used a Charvel Desolation with EMG 81 bridge pickup and 2 L2M's with the L6 Link to my Helix...

Hey thanks for the list I wasn't sure what are some of those were supposed to be because I've not been in the loop when it comes to stomp boxes for the past probably 20 years since I used and SGX2000 express since early 90s and 11 rack the past couple years

There is there is a guy that I met on the 11 rack forum he goes by the name "Singtall" he made a preset pack of dang near every artist that you could think of and nailed all of them then he got the EPSI IR loader and Took the 11 rack to a new level the guy has definitely got in the ear for dialing up tone on these amp simulating machines he recently got an atomic amplifier and started to make presets for it someone over at atomic evidently caught wind of some of what he was doing and put some of his presets on on their site for people to download I've always said if one of the big three companies would grab this guy and give him their machine and let him do all the factory presets they would definitely pay for themselves as people would be singing the praises of their machine because right out of the box there would be useable presets that people would notice.
So if somebody's over at Line 6 would get a hold of the guy give him a helix and let him make a preset pack and just start with the next firmware update change all the factory presets to his. I guarantee you wouldn't be sorry.
Here is a clip he made on YouTube of some sounds on the atomic amplifier they're pretty dang convincing...
