  1. I do this regularly.  Sometimes bypassing the amp block and turning on another, or using another amp on a stereo path and panning between them at the split block.  The only limitation is your imagination

  2. Hey All,

I have set up a patch to control a live looping app on my iPad via MIDI.  It uses MIDI CC messages to trigger functions in the app.  All works great there!  However, I have the LEDs color coded to functions so i can identify them quickly, but the LEDs are always in the DIM state unless I am stomping on the switch.

Is there any way to set the LEDs to always be lit fully?   It would be very handy to be able to do.

    Thanks!

  3. I have a Helix and I have an H9 Max. The two play very well together and I can get some amazingly deep sounds with this combo. The pitch effects on the H9 are great as are the reverbs and delays. When you pair the best capabilities of both together, you will achieve KILLER sounds.

I was considering the H9.  Havent ever played much with the eventide stuff but everyone in know loves them

  4. Wouldn't doubt it.

    Dont doubt it,

I put together a mini grab and go board with a few pedals and sold most of the rest.  Kept my POG2.  Looking for a couple other pedals to supplement with.  Mostly for things that would use a lot of DSP or simply couldnt be done with the helix.

  5. Hey Everyone,

I love my helix and especially love that it gave me some options to supplement it with external pedals.  I couldnt live without my POG2.  Ive gotten the helix to approximate a Micro POG but at the cost of a lot of DSP.  Id rather have the DSP for other things at the core of my tone.

I want to know a few things about how you are using the helix with external pedals

    I want to know:

    • What pedals are you using with the helix and how are you using them?
    • What external pedals could you not live without?
    • If you could have any pedal alongside your helix, what would it be?

I want to know a few things.

    Available later today:

    Helix Firmware v1.06.0 Release Notes

Helix v1.06.0 is a firmware update that includes new models, features, fixes, stability improvements, and optimizations. It is highly recommended that all Helix users perform this update!

It is also recommended that you back up your current presets by using the Helix application to create a preset bundle, allowing you to install new presets as part of the update process.

The easiest way to perform the update process is by installing the latest version of Line 6 Updater. Once you've connected Helix to your computer via its USB port (hubs are not supported), Line 6 Updater will recognize the unit and take you through the update process. Both theHelix application and Line 6 Updater may be downloaded here: http://line6.com/software/

    New Features

    • Swap Footswitch Assignments—This feature makes organizing Stomp footswitch mode a lot easier, especially when footswitches have multiple-assigned items or custom labels/LED ring colors. Touch and hold (but don’t press) any two stomp mode footswitches for one second. A dialog box appears, asking if you want to swap all assignments. Press Knob 6 (OK)
    • When touch-holding a footswitch to invoke Quick Footswitch Assign (or touch holding two footswitches to swap their assignments), the dialog panel automatically closes after four seconds

    Bug Fixes

    • In rare cases, assigning a parameter to a footswitch may briefly display the parameter’s value above Knob 1 (Parameter) on the Controller Assign page â€”FIXED
    • After returning to a preset while the looper is active, the Looper block and/or half-speed footswitch’s LED may not properly reflect its state(s) â€”FIXED
    • In some cases, a Command Center > CC Toggle footswitch’s LED may not properly reflect its state â€”FIXED
    • Helix may fail to respond when receiving a huge string of MIDI PC messages while on the Setlist view â€”FIXED
    • After customizing the name of an auto-assigned EXP 1 block (Wah or Pitch Wham), the Volume Pedal may become unassigned â€”FIXED
    • General stability improvements
    • Other minor bug fixes and optimizations

    Other Improvements

    • When selecting banks by pressing FS1 (BANK UP) or FS7 (BANK DOWN), FS6 now appears as CANCEL, letting you dismiss bank queue without changing footswitch modes
    • Expression Pedal 2 and 3 can now adjust values in Pedal Edit mode
    • Factory presets leveled
    • Additional improvements made to the factory preset bundle

Resetting Helix Globals / Loading the Newest Factory Presets

IMPORTANT! This procedure will completely overwrite all existing presets and setlists, as well as clear all user IRs and reset all global settings! Back up your presets and IRs before proceeding!

    1. Turn off Helix.
    2. While holding footswitches 9 and 10 (middle two switches on the bottom row), turn on Helix. Wait for the message “Will reset Globals and restore stock Presets, Setlists and IRs…†to appear and let go.

    Known Issues

    • Minor pops and clicks may be present when Helix is streaming audio from a Mac® running OS X 10.11 (El Capitan)
    • Minor pops and clicks may be present when Helix is streaming audio from an iOS® device running iOS 9.1 or 9.2 with Apple® Camera Kit
    • Importing a Helix bundle while streaming audio over USB may cause the Helix application to disconnect

  7. Sweetwater updated their website to "We've confirmed with Line 6 that more of this item should arrive within a few weeks. Place your pre-order now to reserve yours, and your order will ship in the order it was received." which scares me but hopefully nothing changes with the 21st being the date they get them. If I don't hear good news, I'm probably going to cancel my order.

I ended up going with zzounds.  I caught them just at the right time.  I cancelled my other order.

  8. I'm just going to stick with Sweetwater. As much as I am unhappy with how things are going, I don't want to lose my spot in line just to try and order somewhere else and have them go out of stock and be back at square one...

I feel you. I didn't cancel the other until I had confirmation that FedEx had the package in their possession. I wasn't taking any chances.

You may have just been bumped up one spot with my cancellation.

  9. POG2! That's the one I want.

I agree.  But i cant imagine the DSP overhead that the POG2 has.  I think it would eat up a LOT of DSP.  Maybe we could get away with a microPOG in it.

I would really like to see a lot more dist/OD pedals (Tim, Timmy, Plimsoul, Keeley Red Dirt, etc.)  As well as some auto-wah/envelope filter options (Keeley neutrino sticks out in my mind here)

I would also love to see some other boutique amps.  (Victory or Dumble anyone?)

And maybe bring the FRFR back?  I used that in my acoustic patches on my HD500X.  Maybe its not needed in the helix (ill find out when mine gets here)

EDIT:  Added the part about FRFR

  10. I've tried multiple guitars including humbucker equipped and multiple cables. Nothing is connected via USB. I'm on latest firmware. The fact that it goes away completely if I touch and hold something metal on the guitar makes me think it must be a ground noise issue or poor power conditioning.

Does it still hum if you are using a very low gain amp.  Even my best humbucker guitars still have some hum when im not touching the strings on anything but a very clean amp.  A lot of it has to to with the other electric interference around you.  My office, for example, has 3 computers, 5 monitors, and plenty of other sound gear.  In a small 10x12 room, that is a LOT of potential interference.

If i turn off everything but my mac and its monitors (as i do when recording) a large part of the hum goes away.

If you are using high gain amps, hum is expected without a noise gate.

  11. Though they haven't ignored any of my emails (Good on them), they'd be better off ignoring them. They keep promising me BS dates. They could say "no update" but I suppose they don't want to upset anyone so they just string us along...

Yeah i think that is the real issue.  Im okay with "no update" or "were not sure".  But if you give me a hard date, I would expect notification if that date isnt going to be upheld.  Thats just good customer service.

  12. I've got 15 emails back and forth with my rep bugging them for updates. I just don't know who or what to believe. And I doubt they'll be delivered today. I do not believe a single thing until I get a shipment email. I also noticed they've been changing their in stock message frequently. Just keep crossing your fingers...

Yeah i hear you.  I havent noticed the stock message being changed often.  Every time ive looked since i ordered it's said a few days.

I think that may be one reason why i call.  An email can be ignored. They actually have to talk to you on the phone.

  13. I was never told weather just told that they were delayed until the 22nd. I can't fully blame them but as a manager in customer service, you never over promise, under deliver. Pretty annoying but I guess I'll just keep waiting. I'm already at the top of the list... So they say

Thats disheartening.  I talked to my reps assistant today and he said they they showed to be on the truck to be delivered today.  Im anxiously waiting an update or an email saying it shipped.

    Im also "on the list"

I did note that the "Its arriving soon" description changed from yesterday to today.  It now says "We've confirmed with Line 6 that more of this item should arrive within a few weeks. Place your order now, and we'll ship it the very same day we receive it from Line 6."  Yesterday it said "a few days"

I would hope that means that all units in the current shipment have been purchased and new orders will be a few weeks.
