...It seems that a DT owner would still be better off going with the 500X for $50 more.
also true 2 a jtv owner (?) - no variax tone+variax vol assignment 2 params
also true 4 a potential hd buyer (?) -no dual amps, no mic input, no aux input, no MIDI, no L6 LINK, no S/PDIF out, no Mac/PC editor, no 52 controller routings

... Townsend used a Gretsch 6120 (a gift from Joe Walsh) on Who's Next (and the next album)...
true, that's why one of the demo patches i posted abv is using the Gretsch 6120 model (rbilly-1).
this patch (WontGetFooledAgain2) is also using the tweed-bman (in parallel with the blackfac2bl, in order 2 simulate Pete's 1959 Fender Bandmaster) as per foll link:
http://www.thewho.net/whotabs/gear/guitar/fenderbandmaster.html :
Pete Townshend used a 1959 Fender Bandmaster amplifier with his Gretsch 6120 Chet Atkins Hollow Body to create the rich feedback-laden sound heard on virtually all studio recordings beginning with Who’s Next in 1971. The entire rig was a gift from Joe Walsh in 1970, and consisted of a 1959 Gretsch 6120 Chet Atkins ‘Hollow Body’ guitar, the 1959 Fender Bandmaster 3x10 combo, a Whirlwind cable and the Edwards Light Beam volume pedal.
enjoy...

hoping those apple and google devices that they r working on 4 some products will not follow the google glasses path.... :)

Aris, thanks, ευχαÏιστω :)
glad 2 hear u like the patches.
the hd+jtv gear is ...simply the best.
let us hope L6 will not dump them in favor of other more-trendy(?) but less-hd-sounding ...gadgets.

yes, this setup u have in mind is implementable as far as the hd500x is conserned....

@pwhittles:
the 69s (black, maple neck/maple fretboard) is THE PERFECT instrument.
when VDI'ed 2 a HD500(X) it is THE ABSOLUTELY UNIQUE BUNDLE.
welcome on board my friend !
ps
try attached demo patch (Townsend Who's Next sound approximation).

it has been clearly stated many times b4 that bluetooth has tech probs regarding ios/android support bcause HD500 preset has a lot of parameters 'n switching presets would b extremely sluggish via the iOS/Android app 'n syncing a hundred HD500

no
can owners of POD HD400 get the update and buy the bundles?
POD HD 2.6 is only for 500X, 500, HD Pro X, HD Pro, and HD (Bean).
-
No massive MIDI mapping, one controller assignment (vs. HD's 52!), and 128 presets (vs. HD's 512) is enough to get Bluetooth syncing decently fast.
"one controller assignment" means that ONLY ONE PARAM CAN B ASSIGNED 2 ONLY ONE EXP1/EXP2VARIAX VOL/VARIAX TONE?

I doubt it. Making an old amp work on the HD is very different from making old patches compatible. There's a lot more than an amp that goes into a patch. The HD preset and signal processing architecture does not support XT patches.
i mean just "manually type" all the xt settings of n old xt patch in2 the hd500 (drive, lows, etc).
since the model algorithms r the same (non hd), theory suggests that this manual approach shld work....
-
...the older POD amp models are not reworked to be HD...
so i just copy my old xt patches 'n bingo, all my old xt tones r i xfered2 the hd500, right?
-
and what happens when someone designs a patch and gives the patch to someone that does not have the same "pack".
You may want to consider adding a spot on Customtone for people to notate what bonus packs were used.
pls correct me if i'm wrong, but this was standard practice on xt custome tone patches....
Edit: confirmed, attaching screen..
-
u r welcome...
-
I think the cloud-based tone auditioning will be too sluggish for live use.
also bluetooth tone editing is expected 2 b sluggish as well...

so, using only 1 amp makes the wirless (bluetooth?) presets switching not 2 be extremely sluggish via the iOS/Android app?
does not make sense, does it?
except if the hd amps do not have all those hd-deep-edit params and r exposing only xt-like controls. -
Pod HD presets will not be compatible because Firehawk does not support dual paths. Tone matching uses the pre-HD tone library, same as AMPLIFi.
this makes sense.
just cannot quite understand the ...HD'ness of firehawk...
it seems more amplifi-like without onboard usable screen.
btw, how many presets will this unit suports? 128? 512? more? less?

Global EQ preset onoff?
