  1. I'm all in with snapshots so I doubt I will ever use this feature... but it's a great option for those that are entrenched in, or just really prefer the "preset" method of getting around.
  2. The Flange is stereo...... that's the difference! Stereo effects take a huge amount of resources.. Change it to mono or remove it and you gain access to ALL amps!
  3. I wonder where my post went... I don't see it! Are you 100% certain you are comparing apples to apples. The new preset contains the STEREO version of the Gray Flanger. Indeed, it eats enough DSP that your options become limited. If you simply change that to the MONO version of the Gray Flanger all of the amps become available! (just verified this on my Helix) So.... When you say you tried the Gray Flanger in the OLD preset, did you insert the MONO or STEREO version? If you inserted the MONO Version, that's your difference!

    Performer tones

How good are they? I would say they are great when the artist that created them are actually using them. They sound like every other preset in the world when I plug into them. In fairness I don't expect any preset to suit what I do. I loaded them up just to see what was there but I wasn't surprised when none of them did anything for me. There might be a trick or two I will learn from some - but that's about it.
  5. All V3 setlists are available here.... There is only 1 for the Stomp, not 2. https://line6.com/support/page/kb/effects-controllers/helix/helix-30-factory-setlists-r964/
  6. My money says you missed a step :) When you do the Hardware update through HX Edit, ONLY THE HARDWARE gets updated! Not HX Edit itself! The new version of HX Edit needs to be downloaded from Line 6 and installed separately.
  7. Here is a link to all the factory reset options.... the 2nd bullet point is the presets and setlists but you might want to review the others as well. https://line6.com/support/page/kb/effects-controllers/helix/helixrackltfxstomp-reset-procedures-and-troubleshooting-tricks-r768/ Before doing this, if you have presets of your own SAVE THEM NOW! You will lose them for good if you don't!
  8. Look at the location numbers.... What you see in the doc (notes) is who made it! What you get on the device is the actual name of the preset EG: The notes say... 15A, 15B—Richie Castellano The Device and HX Edit will read... 15A: FAUX 7 STG CHUG 15B: RICHEESE Sometimes the name (such as 15B) will suggest the artist name, sometimes they don't! If you see 15A and 15B as I have shown here, then you have the presets loaded!
  9. It takes a little pre-planning, but you can have 4 parallel paths on the Helix or Native... Set input to guitar for both Path 1 and Path 2 Set output to mains for both Path 1 and path 2 Path 1A and Path 2A should start with your primary tone (eg: amp/cab and any effects). Yes - it needs to be duplicated! NOTE: You can create a more complicated primary tone... but it will leave you with less blocks available in both 1A and 2A. Immediately following the AMP (or primary tone) on each path, create a "Split Y" All four paths will be in parallel... and can contain multiple effects (series) on each path. The LT is restricted by the DSP power as to how much you can accomplish.... Native can have compatibility mode turned off... in theory up to 32 blocks can be used! I'm attaching a screenshot from Native to show you the idea.... using nothing but an Amp/Cab and some modulations.
  10. If you don't have real world experience with the "amps/cabs/mics" it can be an overwhelming experience to say the least. If you don't know what the differences are, they will all just sound like amps. They do have distinct differences, but if you don't know what your are listening for you won't notice. This is normal! You can learn a lot by researching what is used by your favorite artists/players. You start to connect the dots and realize you need to lean certain directions for certain sounds. Those are broad terms.... can you name any artists/songs you might want to get a tone for?

    3.0 UPdate

I loathe presets.... but with this update I read about some artists contributions and decided to give a few a try. Nope... I still loathe presets! I have no doubt that those players get great tones with what they have created.... but not with my hands & guitars.
  12. I agree.... the X100 had the input attenuator on the back... and you could cut or boost accordingly. I used to boost that quite a bit to simulate what you are describing. The X100 also had built in compression which simulated a "studio compressor" not a "stomp box". When it was pushed hard it really produced a sweet tone/feel!
  13. Well, well, it appears there was! My original files had a distinct artifact at the end of the CLN2 file (the file used for comparison)... this must have disrupted the IR making processes. I just finished rebuilding all of the IR's.... the other 3 ended up the same, but CNL2 certainly increased in volume, and clarity. NOTE: It still isn't as loud as CLN1, but it is much closer. In my opening post I uploaded a new ZIP file that contains the new version of CLN2... (the original CLN2 is also included for reference with a new name)
  14. Although many effects do have the mix/blend control, you are right... many still don't. A mix/blend control is parallel processing built into every effect that has it.... extremely powerful without the need of using precious space on the parallel path. Upvoted!
  15. CLN2 on the Rockman was a direct signal, not an amp/cab like the other 3. The video posted by "sweetpete" earlier shows this tone (with the chorus engaged) beginning around 7:20. When he moves to CLN1 at about 10:30 on the video... the sound is much thicker, but his volume is not changing much. CLN2 is much thinner, but not much quieter. I'll look at my capture files again and see if something went wrong in IR process. Worse case scenario, I'll find the old Rockman and try again. BTW.... thank you for trying!
  16. On the page you link to... scroll down toward the bottom. That is where many of the presets are sold individually, and there is a video link in each of those with samples. and/or Visit his YouTube channel and zero in on the Line 6 playlist that interests you most. https://www.youtube.com/c/GlennDeLauneOfficial/
  17. Interesting... I wasn't aware of that. I recorded a cover of that tune on a 4 track Tascam 244 back in 1988... the link to the MP3 is below. All the guitar parts (clean and dirty) was the same Rockman I made these IR's from. Always With You Always With Me
  18. When I normalized the IR's they ended being exactly the same. CLN2 is still just as quite. Even when I look at the waveform... there is no room to expand. If someone else can take a stab at it and try to make it louder, please do. Keep in mind... CLN2 has no cabinet.... and is extremely thin. This IR would not sound good with a dirty amp, it wasn't intended to be used like that. All the mids are ripped out, leaving nothing but emphasized top end. It does sound like it should.. which I guess is the important part.
  19. You quoted my comment, but are you sure you are talking to the right person? Who said I would do it with just a reverb? I never claimed I would. I never posted any YT clip.... I don't know what you are talking about? Who are you and why do you question my ability!
  20. Yes it is... I should probably add a normalized copy of CLN2 so it is more balanced with the other 3. Since CLN2's intended use was keyboards, acoustic instruments, even vocals.... it was likely designed to have more headroom (eg: quieter) to allow for those instruments.
  21. Although the tone control is full on the reverb (settings in your opening post) it appears to be rolling off the tone of the guitar track, not just bathing it in wetness. I will have to check my XT Live when I get a moment to see if the plate reverb behaves like that as well. IMO - I wouldn't have any problem replicating this in the Helix.... but you already returned your LT so I don't think any tips will help :)
  22. Not for a moment do I believe L6 has purposely "hobbled" the Helix. They prioritize features, and weigh the demands of the users. Do they get it right 100% of the time... NO! Do they get it right most of the time, I suspect so! I know I'm pretty happy yet I certainly don't have everything I want :) I've seen this very same worry in the past about stomps being allowed to "bypass snapshots". It was debated for several updates, and eventually happened once enough people started to grasp the concept. Nobody complains about the option now, but it was a heated discussion many times in the past! @SaschaFranck has been pushing the "global blocks" for a while now... and although I didn't grasp the idea at first, I am all for it now! The fact that L6 is adding "effect templates" is a step in that direction. It may not happen in V3, but the ground work could be set for V3.1 or V3.2.

Really? Not a good start to the forums! The response was a joke.... you obviously missed it!
  24. Since this is a reverb found in POD Farm... I just dug out my old XT Live that I never use to see if the model is there. Sure enough, there is a "Large Plate" with the same parameters as indicated here. However, I have no idea if it is behaving or sounding the same (or even similar) to what is included with POD Farm. On the XT Live... with those settings, this is just a really short reverb. It stays extremely pronounced while playing, and decays almost immediately when you stop. Not a gate (as in "shut off"), but certainly an extremely steep envelope. Long story short, I don't hear anything that couldn't be done with almost any reverb within the Helix. If the reverb model is the same in the XT Live as it is in POD Farm, mine does NOT behave like this. The mix simply blends in the reverb as expected until it hits about a 50/50 mix of guitar and reverb when full (100%).
  25. Based on those settings.... I would think it would be an extremely short reverb that simply encompass' the tone, and provides very little decay. That said, I paid no attention to the settings and just I listened to the sample he posted (yes in a mix, but still a sample) and based my assumptions by what I heard there. I agree, that would be nice!
