I just bought a used Vetta version 1. I bought it sight unseen with the longboard for a really good price. I really hoped that it already had the VDI expansion card installed, but alas.... it did not. Of course, I have had no luck sourcing one. I turn, in desperation to you all. Where can I find a VDI Expansion card for my Vetta. I have been reading about a lot of "dead" Vettas. I'd love to pick up a VDI card from someone who pulled it out of their old Vetta.
Scott
Scott my guess is you'll have better luck finding a complete amp with the digital card in it than just the VDI card alone and probably for about the same amount of money.

Nothing beats the Vetta II plus the FBV Longboard.!!
Sadly my battery has started to act up on the ol' Vetta now so whenever I turn the amp off and the back on it defaults
to the "preset patch" 1A Twin ...something and a few other things that it drops. The freshly made patch however is still
saved somehow... (hmm)
Anyway line6 tells me I need to change battery but since I'm not a "soldering guy" I bought a FHFX pedal instead and
when it arrives I'll be doing some testing with that instead.

It shouldn't be too hard to find someone who can swap out the battery for you. It's a simple task for a good tech.

I’m just curios to see if anyone still uses the vetta?
1 or 2.? I have been using this amp now for years. This is the best amp line 6 ever made. Why don’t they listen to the community on how good this amp was and make a new upgraded one! Feel free to chime in on this thread.
Go to the Vetta II facebook group and you'll see a lot of folks still using them.

HA!! I was able to convert the FB instructions to a PDF. Hope that helps.
OK, followed the BLIND instructions to the letter. Read it several times to get the process down.. Midi flashed SENDING...but apparently it went nowhere.
RESULTS: Just black bars and 888. Turned it off then back on and I get 222...repeat and I get AAA and all lights lit up. Almost every time there's
something different in the numbers screen and multiple light configurations, but no messages.
Do you know if the the operating system located on a removable chip? I would really like to take the memory from the newly purchased Vetta and put it into my old Vetta because it's in better condition. They should have put the program(s) on a plug & play HD for times like these.
EDIT: Going back to the RIP thread I read where you wrote" "...Monkey 1.19 and select "flash from File". I never did see that message in Monkey.
EDIT: Did some research...memory is EPROM. Even if the EPROM is on the motherboard then all one has to do is replace it and it's UNBRICKED. Am I being too logical here? It's just electronics.
If you have two vetta amps I think there is a procedure to dump the OS from one to the other directly without a computer in the loop. Of course they both have to be the same kind of amp i.e. head or combo but if they are the same you're supposed to be in great shape. I forgot where it was but it's out there on the web somewhere.

Happily, I don't FaceBook...
Well in that case I guess you're up the proverbial creek unless you can get Line 6 to help you. Which is doubtful.

UPDATE: OK, it's now 1:13 AM on Friday, Sep 8...
I turn my Vetta brick off...held down EDIT and turned it on. RESULTS: Channel lights read 999, windows now show blank screens (black bars gone) and ALL the lights are on.
And Monkey V1.16 (can't find the V1.19 you recommended) still won't let me log on...even though I am already logged in as I type this.
Any ideas?
Line 6 no longer supports the Vetta with Monkey. You'll have to do it the old way. Go to the Vetta users group on Facebook for detailed help.

Anyone know a replacement Vetta power switch part number? I've already scoured Full Compass to no avail... Thanks!
No part number but it;s a common pop in, double pole single throw, rocker switch with spade terminals. Should be easy to find on any of the electronics parts suppliers on the web. Pop it out and measure it to get a replacement that will fit. BTW I think they only use half the switch so a SPST would do the job.

My midi in on my souncard wasn't workin. I replaced it. And it works. I love these amps. One of the best out there. I have three of them.
I agree the Vetta is a great amp although it lacks in support from it's maker.

I use an old creative labs sound blaster audigy zs. Use an old version of monkey. I just did two amps with it!
Monkey no longer works as line6 disabled it. it was a web based tool that was unwise to implement in the first place as it added far too many places for bad things to happen in the updating process. Best to use an update file and a direct connection to the amp instead of adding a bunch of internet garbage to the chain.
-
That's good news. What were you doing wrong?
-
I've only used the Uno and I think it was the only recommended midi cable to use. For no more than they cost it's just not worth messin around with it. Do everything you can to ensure success from the onset.

I am very happy with the installation of the sub Board housing the CR2430. Continuity test confirmed. I tried powering the amp up. The Display screens were still unlit and inactive and a cyclic clicking sound was heard from both speakers. I then tried a "Flying Blind" firmware 1.01 SYSEX update, using MidioxSE, Midisport 2x2 anniversary and Windows XP SP3. The send SYSEX command finished sending the firmware file after about 10 minutes. MidioxSE displayed its progress and did not hang up. Pressing the vetta SAVE button did not place the amp in play mode. I am open to any suggestions before I open the amp up and start probing. Thanks!
After checking all the ribbon cables connection I suppose the next step it to check out the power supply. Again the best place to share this these days is the Vetta group on Facebook.

Ok. I got my old vetta update 2.5. Is is just to old for the line 6 edit 3.4 to recognize? I have the vetta 1. Do you need an xp computer to run my vetta?
Some have reported good results with later OS software. I have XP so used that but you should check the facebook group for more info.

This has been going on for a while, but now it's really bugging me.
The upper sweep on the wah is way too warm, won't go into the funk-zone. I go into "Foot Control" and the upper sweep position reads 90. I reset it to 121 or so, save it, and as soon as I move the pedal, it reverts back to 90.
Have I simply forgotten something? I really hope so.
Thanks.
Have you run the calibration procedure on your pedals? You might try that.

I'd replace the battery first and have a fully functioning amp before attempting an upgrade. The facebook group is the best place to get help with the amp.

I joined the Vetta Facebook group and advise other users to do the same. A great resource that has the files needed to perform the firmware update.
It's about the only place to find anything in the way of support for the Vetta these days.

i have a vetta 2 combo. the C59 cap on the AX3 Power Supply 35-00-0096 rev 3 BLEW! cant read any numbers or find a schematic
Help
For what it's worth. The manual I have says "a buck regulator consisting of IC U3, Inductor L6 and Capacitor C59 form a buck regulator that regulates the voltage generated by winding T2B. This generates an 8V regulated output. The parts list has C59 listed as a 100pF 50volt 0805 surface mount type but that makes little sense from the circuit description.
Go to the vetta group on facebook and you can download a service manual in pdf format. However the schematic isn't the easiest to read. The manual if for a head unit but I think they use the same PCB with some variance in the components that are stuffed. Like more power FETs for the head unit than are installed in for the combo amps.
I would be nice if Line6 would help but they won't so it is what it is. The least they could do is put the manuals and service data up for download.
At least if it's a common component and you can get your hands on what data there is, you stand a snowball's chance of saving your amp. A couple have been talked though repairing their dead amps in the facebook group so you might want to check it out. There are many fans for the Vetta there but not many fans of Line6.

Yeah, over on the good old facebook some one has started a vetta 2 group.
Possibly, some of you guys are there already but definetley worth a look.
some good instructional vids popping up on it
Yeah it's been up for a while now. I've been sending people there for support as there is none from Line6 anymore. All vetta amps are covered, I's II's heads and combos. We've even successfully talked a few folks though repairs for their dead amps. If you're looking for any kind of help for a vetta amp that is where to find it these days.

Alrighty then.... Vetta part 2:
The V2.5 upgrade was really worth it, amps, amps and more amps plus the L6 Edit V3 interface is pretty slick.
L6 Monkey V1.19, Vetta 2.5 VTF flash file on hard-drive is all you need and follow the instructions.
BUT if you didn't go through all the midi/usb advice in the prior post just stop here. Don't make a paper weight.
I used a WinXP PC, M-Audio Uno & tested the midi connection with firmware 2.03 using L6 Edit V2 sending and receiving and just generally having a blast with the Vetta.
Takes a bit for everything to be written firmware, new patches but afterwards....... sweet.
There is a great group on FB for the Vetta which can help you if you screw-up and is a good resource. They can also point you to using MidiOx as a sysex writer for the firmware as an alternative to Monkey.

Get a midi-sport uno as suggested above, make sure you update the drivers for it to the newest ones supplied for free by m-audio on their website.
Then make sure you are using an older PC running XP haha. True. And also you probably want to run the really old version of Line 6 monkey that can still be found in the archives here somewhere. You need the old version of monkey in order to talk to the amp and to be able to do firmware updates and such. Just don't brick the amp and make sure you know what you're doing before trying to update the firmware, otherwise you're hooped.
I did it not too long back, successfully on my Vetta II HD, but it's a risky proposition if something goes array.
All the answers for firmware updates and the files can be found in the Vetta users group on Facebook.

Hi there Linesixies. I have recently acquired a Vetta II which I am really happy with. Pity Line 6 has decided to discontinue the range.
I have an issue, though.
It seems that every time I switch my Vetta II on, the system setup is back to its default settings ('full power' etc.). Is this simply an issue of replacing the internal battery and does the Vetta have more than one battery?
Thanks.
Robin
Just one battery. You can find a lot of discussion about replacing it in the facebook Vetta group.
I suggest replacing the coin cell with a battery holder and a couple of lithium AA or AAA types. It makes it easier the next time around because no soldering is needed and it should last longer too.

Does anybody know, where I can get the full power supply for my vet hd?
It´s written on it:
Power supply REV D 23/JAN/02
PART #35-00-0102
please help :-((
Probably not avaliable so you'll likely have to fix the one you have or have it fixed. Should be doable by a good tech.

I think you might be confused about the FBV. I have the long board, you can select all the banks by selecting bank up and down and then channels A,B,C and D within each bank. That is unless you're talking about the FBV4 which just has for push buttons but I don't know how many if any of those were sold.
If you haven't any floorboard at all try to find and buy a longboard as it has two pedals and a maybe a few more switches than the shortboard has.
One note, be aware that by default the pedals are off in each patch so you have to press the toe switch (press hard) then save the patch for the expression pedal to be active the next time you dial up that patch. Do this for each pedal in each patch. It's a gotcha that catches most folks unaware as it did me with I first got the board.
The expression pedals can be configured in each patch to do more than just wha and volume. You can use them to vary effects parameters like depths, delays, speeds, fades etc.

Hi Edwin,
I didn't have a problem someone else did, I only suggested a possible cause and solution. I have no idea how it came out or if a solution to the problem was found.
