The solo function is a typical live mixer solo function to prevent anything unintended happening to the main mix during a performance. A "solo in place" where all other channels are muted is, if available at all, very well hidden and protected on live mixers. The solo is usually used to listen into one or more channels during a performance.

If you want to quickly mute all channels you can program the Mute Mics button as a mute group. While the Mute Mics button is pressed activate all channel mutes. The next time you press the mute mics button it remembers the mute status and you don't have to press every single one.

When you play back on the M20d make sure that you are using the setup you made the recording with or that you have input channels on stage that correspond to the recording. For example if you recorded a channel assigned to input 13 there needs to be an input channel assigned to input 13. Also please make sure that you have the option "record inputs" or "record inputs and main mix" active.

If you take the SD card out or change it or if you change the setup you need to open the correct folder on the SD card using the menu in the upper left corner. If there is a question mark the recording path is not correct.

When the card is pulled out without pressing the stop button the files can be corrupted and seem "empty."

These are three different things. What Litesnsirens is referring to are channel presets. These can be loaded and saved in tweak view. When you select the folder icon next to the meter.

Scenes are meant to be recalled during performances and recall everything except the input parameters like input patch and trim. Scenes are recalled and saved from Performance mode.

And there are Setups. Setups store everything including the input parameters. Setups are saved and loaded from Setup mode.

We do not recommend to loop more than three speakers. As long as the Line6 Link loop is closed all inputs from all StageSource speakers are coming out of all speakers. If an analog connection is introduced the loop is not closed anymore. You can add an analog connection to a mix out and get a signal to that analog speaker but you would not get the iputs from that speaker to the other speakers.

Yes, you can do that. Please make sure that you wait a few seconds before connecting the third speaker.

The wifi USB dongles antennas are not as powerful as a wifi router's antenna and that is why they are more sensitive to interference. In these days there is wifi everywhere even if it is not that visible. Digital Wireless Microphones, Smartphones, Tablets etc.

It makes sense to try different wifi channels since there is usally one or two channels that are just not available.

The USB to Ethernet adapter solution with a wifi router works usually better because the antenna is stronger and the position can be optimized.

Are you using the setup the recording was created with? If not please make sure that input channels are created on the stage according to the recording files (1_Kick to channel one, 8_Voc to channel 8 etc.) and that the recording folder is located in the file browser on the recording page (no question mark in the left upper corner (select session)

The only issues with recorded files as described here that are reported to us are the two in this thread. We are trying to find out what exactly is happening here.

This test was done with the aux in that is line level so no need for auto trim. 

 

No, the channel was not muted and I had reading on the meter. Very near 0Db actually.

So it should result in a near normalized recording with the higher peaks reaching the top of the scale.

When using the Quick Capture buttons on the perform or Tweak pages the Aux Input is not recorded and the input channels 1- 16 are recorded to the internal memory, not to the SD card. When using the Record page it should be recorded and play. It is strange that there is no input signal visible on the record page in your video. I think if you talk to our customer service on the phone it is easier to find out what is happening here and to do whatever is necessary to resolve this.

I can report that I tried recording again at last nights rehearsal.  Basically, we had Bass, Drums, Guitar and Vocals last night.  Went through the usual auto trim routine.  

 

We tried just recording one song, then stopped to see if we actually recorded anything.  I was able to playback the Main Out channel using the Media Player.  There was sound.  I then tried loading one of the line input tracks into the media player, and nothing.  After a couple attempts, we just gave up.

 

I'll wait to hear from someone who can figure it out.

 

One question while waiting.   Does muting the channel have any affect on the recording?  I was under the impression that the recording was taken pre fader.  We rehearse in a small space, and cranking all the instruments through the PA, while we record is not feasible.

The recording is pre fader so muting does not affect the recording. The media player plays only stereo files so the recorded input channel tracks will not play in the media player. The recording should play if you just press play in the recording page. Since there seems to be some real problem I think the best way way to resolve this would be to talk to our customer service and find out what is going on.

We are trying to reproduce this and to find out what these empty files are. When the SD card is removed during recording or before saving (spinning wheel, a few seconds) the files are corrupt and do not play.

When the SD card is too slow and not class 10 some tracks can be corrupted. There is no easy way to know if the card is ok since they can be old or counterfeits but a new, brand class10 card from a mainstream dealer should work.

When you try to play your files in a computer do they play silence or not at all?

Did you check the recording folders on the SD card in a computer? If the recording is played back on the M20d with a setup that does not contain the channels to play them back through that would be simple.

But if a recording path to the SD card is assigned, the card is not write protected and has enough free space and record is pressed the recording should absolutely work. We have done extensive testing and we are very interested to get to the bottom of this.

How does the folder/ file path on your card look like? Something like SD/ Recording1/ 1_Kick Drum.wav?

The Mix Out always carries all input signals and all inputs work simultaneously. So- yes it is possible and yes the speaker is able to use other I/O while L6 Link is being used.

The Q setting allows you to set the parametric eq more or less narrow. If you use a parametric eq the problematic frequency can be notched out with much more precision than with a graphic eq. Using a the precise frequency and width (Q) with a parametric eq produces much less phasing problems compared to using a graphic eq.

The graphic eq is still useful to do some quick and more coarse adjustments.

The dynamic eq works like a parametric eq where the gain is controlled dynamically. This means it can be used to cut or boost a certain frequency when the signal is above or below a certain threshold. For example:

I want to remove some sibilance when my vocalist sings really loud but when he sings more quietly I need these high frequencies so it does not sound dull or muffled.

I set the dynamic eq to cut around 7kHz by 8dB and set the threshold so this starts to happen when my singer gets loud. There is also a second threshold and gain that can be used to, e.g. boost if the singer gets really low.

This example is basically showing how to use the dynamic eq like a de-esser. There are many other ways to shape your sound with the dynamic eq and just trying it is the best way to explore the possibilities.

When you press and hold an encoder icon it starts "floating" and you can rearrange the position and put it on another page.

record level meters for the tracks would surely be helpful... I use a separate monitor mix for the main PA feed and the main outs for recording because we don't want all the instruments coming thru the main pa or monitors.  I get such a wide variation on the recording signals when i play back that it would be nice to have at least some control over that or at least some way to let us see if we need to boost or reduce signal.  thanx

When you have Trim mode selected from the dropdown menu (channel strips are red and the knob adjusts the trim level) the meters show the input metering which is the recording level.

If you switch the L3t's side panel mixer to "Mono" the mixer inputs 1 and 2 will come out of all speakers.

Are you listening to the files on a computer? Which software do you use? Which instruments did you record to which track?

The fact that your recorded mix sounds ok means that most likely the files must be ok and what you are experiencing could be happening in your listening setup.

If you could describe the setup and the tracks maybe we can get to the bottom of this.
