  1. The meter (input trim and level) will turn red if is clipping. When auto trim adjusts the input is looks at the levels and sets it slightly over 0dB. This is the same thing that you would do manually when setting a trim. We leave about 15dB of headroom whicj is pretty standard for digital desks.

When auto trim adjusts the analog gain for clipping the gain is made up digitally after the converter so that the level does not change. That is why we do not show a gain reduction.

  2. When you go to the right the body of the instrument is close to the mic. When you go to the other side the neck is closer. The sound comes from the body.

  3. In this clip I can hear environmental noise from inside and  traffic. It becomes very obvious when you switch from stereo to mono. When you try the same test with another condenser microphone what is the result? We have measured the Sonic Port VX against many other products and its noise performane is very good. What you hear is not coming from Sonic Port VX but from your environment.

  4. This does not sound right. It is hard to say what is going on here. The best way to resolve this is to call our customer service so you can go over this on the phone. Maybe it is some setting, maybe the device needs to be replaced.

  6.

    *  input Gain Trim controls in the analog domain -  these important gain set elements must occur " pre A/D to  yield optimal SNR and Dynamic range for each channel -  I can label these where they need to stay)

    Stevekc,

The input gains (Trim controls) on StageScape are in the analog domain (pre AD). They are analog mic pre amps (TI Burr Brown) that can be digitally controlled and stored and recalled.

  7. In the video there is some street traffic and other environmental noise that may appear a bit technical where the sound was edited. I think it adds some texture but I can not detect a pink noise.

When recording inside the ac, fridges and other sources are usually much louder than the mic/ pre noise. We have measured this and compared to much more expensive mic's and preamps.
