  1. To me the obvious way round is to have the delay spillover

    If the looper can persist from patch to patch with no break then why not a delay?

    Its 90% of the time not an issue for me unless I'm using the variax

    I need to be able to switch between my acoustic patch and my electric patch quickly for a couple of songs and that's where it punishes me

     

    I'll bet money delay spillover is coming to Helix about the same time it comes to Axe FX. It requires an entirely new architecture.

  2. I haven't read the whole thing so plz forgive, but the Axe FX II had something called "scenes" that had 5 or 6 different settings/stomps/FX's you could use in the same patch, and IIRC it switched between them pretty fast.

     

    Been asked for a lot. I hope that we get something like this in Helix. You can already ALMOST do that kind of thing with footswitches.

  3. Finally someone else dared say it. Lol. Too each their own but this is how I have always felt about modeling. If you plug it into an amp then you just have a very expensive effects box and there are others that function as well and at cheaper there. In fact I would just use my old board. I realize Helix has extras. Multiple routing, amp switching (on some Amps this works) and higher quality effects.

     

    I do understand studio use and just wanting to find a way to use it live also.

     

    Based on my experience with modelers, I tend to agree. That said, if you use 10 stompboxes in Helix into an amp (which is very very possible) it is STILL cheaper than buying those 10 stompboxes, and easier to re-configure.

     

    And... you have the modeling and computer audio/MIDI interface and all that at the same time if you need it at different times.

  4. Is this a fact?   It just seems odd that the OS would be interfering with the DSP at all.   I'm familiar enough with computer design to question this... and if it is as stated, I'd be curious why as I'm sure they would have a good reason.

     

    Don't remember where I heard it, but it was reliable. There's OS housekeeping and stuff that happens in path 1. It doesn't make a big difference, though, iirc...

Works fine,  seems smooth and fluid,  just backwards.  Didn't realize this would be such an up in arms topic.  I happen to like the FC 7, it's heavy, cheap, and works really well to be made of thick plastic.  I really don't want to throw it away because it's backwards,  guess it's time to cut the plug off it and rewire!

     

    Korg's EXP2 is similar in function, so I tried a couple different wire combinations to use it better with Helix, and they didn't work, so I am doubting you will be successful. It's evidently not that simple.

  6. 1. Editor is right around the corner. Frank said end of month and hasn't backed off that!

    2. You might not have to worry about patch latency. You can EASILY have the equivalent of 2, 3, or 4 signal chains in there in multiple ways so that you can switch FX on and off and change settings of them with a footswitch. for me, one patch gets me through a song and usually a set. Patch latency does depend on how much is being loaded, but the latest Rack firmwares at least have been noticeably quicker in switching.

     

    3. It has not been a problem for me at all. I get what took me 3 patches on HD 500 and get them into just one with Helix easy.

     

    4. Custom IRs are < using dual cabs in the box imho. I don't even bother with them anymore except for my acoustic sound.

     

    5. Path 1 is processor A, path 2 is processor B. Path 2 has a little more horsepower because OS stuff is in Processor 1.

     

    6. I'll let others address this, as I don't use any amps anymore.

     

    7. Basically, you have multiple signal chains within a patch, up to 4, but realistically 2 or 1 with some side chains that might change. For instance, you could hit one pedal and switch between two different versions of a bunch of pedal settings.

    No. Steinberg, Nexo, and Bösendorfer, while also wholly-owned subsidiaries, are operated completely independently, and are also not Yamaha.

     

    DI, I hope that you guys are building functionality into your products that works with accessories from whatever company is hoping to buy Line 6 from Yamaha in 5 years... (see what i did there...?)

  8. Put the reverb in it's own path, it's mix at 100%, and use whatever modulation you want in conjunction with the reverb. Use the merge block to adjust the mix between the reverb and other signal.

     

    Yup, works like a charm. and, fwiw, a combo of subtle U-vibe or Chorus AND a Leslie... PLUS an Octo verb into a 100% wet particle verb (set to stable)... is pretty bawss...

  9. To reverse the pedal can't you just reverse the min/max settings on the controller?

     

    So for example for a Wah, long press the Position Knob then change Min to 100% and max to 0%.

     

    yes, but then you have to re-program all your patches when/if you update your pedal. I have one pedal that works backwards on helix. I'm just not using it (but I have 4 of those things lying around, too...)

     

    I'm surprised the Roland doesn't work. It worked awesome for me with my M13 and also, iirc, with my HD 500.

  10. You shouldn't have to get the Line-6 Mission pedal with the toe switch, altho it will work as Peter suggested. The regular Line-6 EP1-L6 Mission pedal should be fine, and to switch it on and off you should be able to assign a function switch on the Helix for Wah, to turn it off and on. Id be "REAL" disappointed and surprised is this were not possible. Of course, if you do NOT have the Controller for the Rack Helix then follow Peters advice as its the only way you can turn it off and on that I know of, other that switching patches.

     

    yes, you can. But... do you really want to hit one pedal to turn it on and THEN go to the wah rocker pedal? I don't. 

     

    A mission Line 6 pedal with a toe switch is probably in my future.

    Alright, I managed to create a patch that allows me to switch between Path 1 & Path 2 but I had to sacrifice an effect block at the front of each Path just so I could alternately mute the Paths.  Ridiculous!

     

    You have more blocks available than you are using on both paths, though. You can add a split and make it "serial" for path 1 if you need more blocks, but there are other ways to do what you are showing anyway. You could have (depending on the amp) both amps in one path where it switches between them, and both cabs (if you really need two different cabs) in one path also switching, and then you wouldn't have to duplicate FX, but share the ones before and after the amp... if that works for you.
