I agree with the question of why it's not being mentioned in here by L6.
DI or Phil???? Shouldn't those announcements be made here as well if not first?
They were very busy last few days I think. Getting ready for NAMM, rushing to get all the bugs out of 1.06, and if they see that someone has posted the news before they could get to it, I don't fault them for spending the time (which I know for a fact they are doing) dealing with working all the kinks out.

Its an Ernie Ball VPJR 250k, for passive electronics. It's got 3 jacks: in, out and tuner. I've been using one of those 2 mono to 1 stereo cables (insert cable?) which I assumed was TRS but im guessing im wrong haha.
Yes, that's the good news.
All you need to do is connect a normal TS cable (normal guitar cord) from the EXP jack on Helix to the OUTPUT of your EB VP Jr.
Works like a charm.
You're welcome.

Sorry to bump this up but I'm currently having this exact issue when connecting my Earnie Ball volume pedal, it goes from 0 to 100 then just before the pedal is all the way up it goes to 0 on the helix again. I have tried reversing the TRS cable connections as well but same issue.
First, get rid of the TRS cable. TRS-based EXPs aren't the way it works.
Second, update firmware, I believe this problem may go away. Which EB VP? what impedance?

When you say banks, I take it you mean setlists? One of the things I'm glad they did was allow for just straight numbering from 000 to 127 within a setlist, basically getting rid of the idea of banks.
Either. You can save a patch anywhere of course.

I may sound a bit daft here, but can I create a preset, then copy the whole thing and move it to a new location and save a duplicate of it? Thus having two identical presets? If so, how is that done?
I'm still very new to the Helix. I've already mastered so much by refering to the manual and messing around, but the above is something I'm struggling with. Any advice appreciated! :)
There is not a "copy patch" function.
Go to the patch you want to copy from.
Press save.
select the location you want to copy to. You can even change banks.
Press save again.
Patch is copied.

I have no idea. I'm on Windows 10
Have you banished all USB hubs from your system?

You're not alone in having a twisted back, and shoulder.
Let's hope the editor is a little more than what they've been saying so far. Which is basically, it's the same as the unit itself. There's so much more that could be done with the editor than just duplicating Helix on a computer screen. I believe strongly that they should take advantage of that. Hopefully it remains a priority beyond the initial release.
I have heard hints from one of the guys at L6 that what you are hoping for may indeed be the case! In any case, with the rack it's easy to set up a workstation for editing patches, right at seated height with the foot pedals still on the floor, but once the editor comes along, that advantage won't exist for me anymore.

Thanks much for the assist! What frequencies did you end up cutting/boosting and what settings did you use for the tube comp?
Finally got to this, sorry for the delay.
On my Crowdster Plus 2 patch, I adjust
150hz, 1.4, -3.5
2.2khz 3.6, -4.3
6.9khz, 0.7, +10db (I know, extreme), and my low cut is set to 91hz, high cut is set to off.

Line 6 updater doesn't update the Helix program like Monkey did with the HD 500 Editor.
Who knows if that could change... we'll see soon, though. -
Be sure to look at the "page 2, 3, and sometimes 4" parameters of the amps.
Honestly, once you dive in, if you still think the X3 sounds better, I'll be really surprised.

Thank you all for the posts, suggestions and links. Today the day to order a Helix - but then I suddenly saw some discussions that I didn´t understand in other thread: main reason for me to use Helix is to Control the JTV from acoustic to Electric on stage with my feet rather than direct on the JTV. Is this not an option(?) What´s the deal here? Can I switch as above and to other instruments in Variax (even tweaked by Helix programming) without delay - through the Helix? Appreciatively!
You can do it a number of ways. Here's a sample of me using EXPs (you can use footswitches as well) to layer electric under acoustic. I can just as easily turn one up and one down and switch from acoustic to electric on the same guitar. You can do the same with Variax just as easily.

Nice playing and a great sounding preset btw!
Which IRs are you guys using specifically and where can we download them? Also, are you using any preamps like the tube pre or just the IR? What else is in your preset as far as effects, EQ, etc.? Thanks in advance for any info or help you can offer, still trying to perfect my acoustic sound with the Helix.
The secret sauce is Acoustic IR (I use one of these, https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1XgNa5vH3j1ZkVoTFJLQ241WTg/view)-> vintage tube Pre -> parametric EQ (VERY important. Find the freqs that you need to cut and don't be afraid to cut them big time for your room) -> tube comp.... magic...
-
...Going the IR route has worked better than any other acoustic preamp or DI I've tried.
I can NOT agree with this enough!

Thanks for the quick reply. I'm less irritated and more like a kid waiting for Christmas to come. I've got friends with the floor unit + it sounds to be well worth the wait.
really worth the wait in a big way!

They have said they are planning/hoping to ship to dealers by the end of January. Frank and Eric have both posted that on TGP and I think somewhere here and on the facebook group.
I'm beta testing it, and it feels pretty much finished to me so I'll be surprised if it slips past that date. The kind of things we've found during the beta test period seem less severe than some of the issues that floor users have faced AFTER the unit shipped.
So... soon, I think...

One thing you could do, and I don't see why it wouldn't work, is to assign the control of the wah and volume both to EXP1 and then still have them both assigned to be turned on and off with the toe switch so that when wah is off volume is on, and vice versa. Really this would give you the same functionality as toggling between EXP1 and EXP2. I guess the only downside to this is that it would be wonky if you ever use the Helix without the external pedal for EXP2 attached.
Oh... that's brilliant. For me, I always want these on two different pedals, but that is brilliant.
-
...i´m ok if it only shows pedal1 all the time, as long as it alternates between master volume and wah....
if that really is fact...is there a chance this is gonna be updated...? why this limitation...??
How would you do that, though? Logically, it's impossible.
If it's always EXP 1, then it's always EXP 1, period. The only way to toggle between volume only and wah only is for it to change from one EXP to another. There is no update that can change that. It is more a limitation of logic than function, I mean.
-
The toe switch will still work to activate the wah, but the onboard exp will remain as exp1 and exp2 will control the wah (and anything else assigned to exp 2)
Change that patch so that the only thing EXP 1 controls is the wah. Now it behaves EXACTLY like a wah pedal. Toe switch engages and the same pedal rocks the wah.

Man that's something serious, glad you mentioned it. I would've never even thought possible. Thanks!
There's no way you'd guess! Right? IEMs ought to come with a bright yellow warning sticker imho.
Now... however... if you are disciplined to the point that you can set your level, then take one out, and not touch your level, you will be fine, but you will not hear well. IMHO, you are way better off learning to deal with IEMs. Recently, I tried to go back to a floor monitor for just one service. I. couldn't. stand. it. Now that I know how to work with IEMs I don't want to fly any other way. seriously.

...Using earbuds I was able to leave one ear in and the other ear free to pick up the stage volume and the drummer...
Do. NOT. ever. do. this. Something called "masking" happens. You will destroy your hearing without even realizing it.

There must have been something different about them the one time I tried it.
That said, I'd never use the whole amp, only the separate amp plus cabs.So I don't know if I'll spend a lot of time learning more about this...
-
I wonder if the delay is rooted in the scribble script issue. The new Helixes may be sitting at the warehouse waiting to have the screens replaced. I'll bet L6 is PO'd at the manufacturer.
I doubt it. We've heard of a few people with the issue, we don't have any reason to believe it's a widespread issue with the number that are probably out there.
-
It's a librarian, but it's just called "helix"...
-
Are we going to get to see the Helix Editor at NAMM?
They have said they are hoping to show it at NAMM. We'll all know for sure real soon.
