  1. Well, updated to 2.010. Promptly noticed all of my custom patches were gone. Kind of expected that but the issue I am having is that while reloading the patches, the app constantly crashes out and shuts down. I can restart it every time but it takes time to resync with the FX 100. Is anyone else having this problem? And if so, is there a fix. I think this may just have been a buggy release but don't know

  2. Further follow up:

I have tried running the main out (left) connection versus the amp out through two other amps (Marshall MG100DFX and 200W Lunchbox).

In both cases, the results were the same as with my tube amp: the main out produces excellent results; the amp out produces terrible results.

Using main out, I have excellent volume, and excellent tone; the effects are very defined and easily controllable.

I do find it sounds a better if I reduce the treble setting on the amp, as the treble output from the FX100 seems to be high, but that may just be my preference.

Using the amp out, I get a very weak signal (barely audible unless I turn the volume way up), and the tone is horrible.

So, so far, I have not found a use for "amp out".

I would like to hear from Line 6 on this, to see what the reasons for this might be, and what "amp out"was intended to do (anyone listening?).

But for now, for all practical purposes, main out is the only way to go, regardless of which amp I connecting to.

Actually, after experimenting, I am most impressed by the little "lunchbox amp".

Don't know if you are familiar with these, but they are tiny (as in the size of a small lunchbox) but with very high end electronics.

The one I have is rated at 200W, and it is loud.

They come with a built in 6" speaker, which, for what it is, is surprisingly good, though as you can imagine, does not have any bottom end.

However, using the speaker out jack, and plugging into an external cab, the thing sounds amazing.

Paired up with the FX100, this now becomes a super portable and super versatile package, with plenty of volume and unlimited tone capability.

The main thing I have to be careful of is that I don't blow my 12" speaker.

It is a Celestion G12P-80. The lunchbox recommends using an external speaker rated for 100W, so at 80W, I am pushing it a bit.

But the sound of the FX100 run through this little solid state powerhouse is really impressive.

I have found this as well. Amp out is terrible and main out works great. Not sure of the purpose of the amp out jack then.

  3. I got my new one back. Everything worked great. Direct guitar to guitar jack. Phones out to headphone jack. Nothing fancy. Rig played fine on Thursday. Today I turn it on. sound from iPhone music player great. Guitar sound barely audible and scratchy. Think bad cord so tried two more that have worked fine. Same issue. Reset FX100. Recalibrated. Same problem. What gives? Any help appreciated.

  4. Nope into the guitar amp input. I found that plugging any cable into the amp return stopped the sound from the amp and it was all into the FX100 and I could unplug the plug in the back to get the sound of the amp. Now no sound even with everything unplugged from amp and iTunes playing but that's it. No guitar at all.

  5. Turned it on today doing nothing different. No guitar sound coming from FRX100 through headphones. Through amp, sound is fine, playing iTunes fine on FX100. Guitar nothing on FX100. I really don't understand this board. Works and doesn't. Could never gig with it. I have reinstalled, re-synched, nothing works. It isn't the bluetooth connection because that is working fine, hence the iTunes playing. I am just plain confused here. Been no power surges, everything else in the place works. Why not FX100. Was working fine yesterday.

  6. I am the point of hating this device. I have never had this much trouble with any add on device in my experience and I have been playing and using equipment for 50 years. The device has worked not worked, worked a little bit, then worked a little bit differently and now not working. There is almost zero support from Line 6. There is really no instruction manual. You are just expected to watch videos and hope you can copy what they are doing. My phone control has never been good despite updating, installing, uninstalling, reinstalling, recalibrating, resyncing, you name it. I have spent more time trying to get the device to work properly than using it. I am to the point of sending it back to Line 6. I am very frustrated and expected a lot. I don't think this unit is ready for prime time and I would not trust it to gig with it. If anyone could be of real help I would appreciate it. I know this just a support forum and not actual support but I have yet to find any real support from Line 6.

  7. New issue. Suddenly I'm getting zero sound of my guitar from my FX100 whether it is plugged into the amp or not. I tried the plug into my amplifier, fine. Plugged back into the FX can hear my streaming music just fine but no guitar at all. What happened. I recalibrated. When I try to look if new update is available it says no service.

  8. What I have found is that if I plug any cable into the back of my Spider valve then everything goes through the FX 100. When I unplug it I am going through my amp speaker. Don't know if it was intended this way or not. Saw a video on cabling and what plug to put where but using the effects loop does not give any better sound or functionality.

  9. Thanks, Line 6 Expert but when I press the hardware screen button nothing happens so then how can I bank switch. The issue I constantly have is when I am in a bank say 3 and push A which has nothing stored, I get no change to my tones. When I am in bank 1 and change, yes it changes. And my biggest gripe is that I have a large computer device, Amplifi FX100 and I have to write down what bank is what on paper. That's brain dead in my book. I will keep the Amplifi but I think this could have been a much better designed product. There should be some instructions on how to use the app in conjunction with the FX100 but all you get is videos of people using it. That is not an instruction but more of an ad for the product. I can't say this was Line 6's best roll out of a product.

  10. Bluetooth comm is clearly lost.

I'm a newbie, but an engineer also and suggest

    1. Unpair on IPhone

    2. Reboot IPhone

    3. Reboot FX 100

    4. Press Bluetooth synch button on FX 100

    5. Pair on IPhone

    6 Start Amplifi app

This is the cleanest way to attempt I think.  Let me know how this goes.

Did this and it fixed the issue. Was not communicating properly. Still wish there was a better readout than a number. I'm not clear what's in each bank after I load in my tones.

  11. After reading my post, I don't think I'm getting my question out correctly. I can edit on the iPhone app till the cows come home but where is it going. If it is being stored to a bank, how do I find the bank? The active window is not what the FX100 is doing at the time.

  12. My issue here is where is the FX100 storing the edited tones? There is no ID on what bank is what so when I download a tone, edit and save it, where is it going. When I play with that tone showing on the app, no change is occurring on the FX100 so where does it go or am I not communicating with the FX100 in that instance? This is all very confusing and I'm pretty good at tech.

  13. All of a sudden my iPhone app no longer seems to control the FX100. Was working fine. Now doesn't. Rebooted phone but when I try to get my tones to work on device, nothing happens. What am I doing wrong. I have to say the manual that comes with the FX100 is less than useless. The iPhone or iPad app controller is essential to running the amp yet there is no manual for doing it.
