Hello,
Yes, the original shortboard works with the newer Spider Valve MKII amps.
Connect it as usual with the Cat5 cable and it will allow you to control preset changes and other features.

Sounds great with the 8 string 27" scale guitar I play now and then with a Spider IV 75 or a Spider Valve MKII HD100. I play with scooped mid settings, the bass is rolled off much more since there is already so much low end from the guitar.

The Spider Valve has the power to unleash fury when turning the Master knob. This is definitely true, but it can be tamed. What I do on mine is save the channel volumes of my presets to about 3-10%. This allows me to crank the master volume up over half way without blowing my ears out or upsetting neighbors.
It is best to manually adjust channel volumes on all of the presets you use to prevent bursts of volume. Just take the time to go through each of them lowering the channel volume and saving the preset. If you do not save your adjustments, they will revert back to ear exploding levels when you change presets.
I hope this helps,

Hello!
Winja52, I highly recommend taking the amp to a service center. +1 cgtrox and SSstormtrooper with not fiddling with it, as it is very dangerous.
Here is the link to our service center finder: http://line6.com/service_centers/
have an authorized technician swap the tubes for you.
