  1. It was my understanding, when I was researching which to buy, that the standard will not be available to be updated. It will not be able to get new speaker simulations or enhancements to the firmware itself. I bought the plus and could not be happier with it! It works great with my helix, but I also play with a tech 21 character series British and Liver Pool in front of it and they sound amazing through it, with their speaker defeat switch engaged.
  2. Hey HonestOpinion, I was using it as the first effect block in the chain with impedance set to auto. In the past I knew to expect a darker tone when the pedal was off, but never experienced the super dramatic volume drop I am now experiencing. I can toggle the impedance to see if that corrects the volume drop, but it was not that way in the past...so something has changed since I last used that pedal first in the chain in an earlier firmware.
  3. Guess I am glad I kept my Fuzz God to throw in a loop. :P
  4. I was trying to sue the Industrial Fuzz for the first time in 2.6 last night. I found that no matter where I put it in the chain, when I turned it on I had normal volume and then when I turned it off the volume dropped a silly amount. I was familiar with the impedance tone changing situation, but this seems totally different. Anyone else notice this as a problem?
  5. When it happens to me, my foot is no where the device... I will be playing, look down and my device has gone into the parameter spill mode for one of the effects. I exit out back into stomp mode and often it will switch immediately back to the effects parameter screen again.
  6. I seem to randomly have this happen as well. I am powering off a strymon supply, so I was going to try the original supply to see if that resolved it and if not did not reflash with the latest firmware. Are you using the included power supply by chance?
  7. Yeah, I noticed that the description for speaker Emulations on the Plus specs now says, "6 (expandable)" where the non plus model just says 6. So they are at least considering it! I ordered a Plus.
  8. Couldn't you use a load box box with your tube amp and then run the line out of the laodbox into the Power Cab? I think you could do that with this one even Attenuator
  9. From the manual: SPEAKER MODE - Intended to respond like a real guitar speaker for a traditional "amp-in-the-room" experience. This mode applies different tonal characteristics of the selected speaker model to the device's coaxial driver, with the following 3 adjustable parameters. Speaker Model - Selects which speaker model is being applied. DI Mic Model - Selects the microphone model that is applied to the XLR output signal while in Speaker Mode, intended to emulate placing the selected mic type in front of the Powercab 112 Plus active guitar speaker system. Mic Distance - Sets the distance between the simulated microphone and the simulated cabinet. While not stated clear enough to drive the point home, imho, this shows that there is no mic model on the simulated speakers that come with the unit, but there is a mic model placed on the DI simulation. This video also clearly states that it is just the speaker model and not a model of a mic in front of it and says that it is a new type of modeling for them. Speaker Only Comment
  10. Sorry Cody, i saw the mistake i made in my intial post that probably made it seem like I needed an ir with Mic, I fixes that.
  11. Yeah, I don't want the Mic in front ir. My questions is of they may add more amp in the room, speaker only models in the future.
  12. Line 6 states that the knob on the back selects a modeled speaker without a Mic modeled in front of it, to give it the amp in the room sound. Not sure how they managed that, but supposedly that is what the unit does and without using the flat response setting. So by turning the speaker selector knob on the back, the speaker will sound like the selected speaker and will not be flat. That is the amp in the room sound they are marketing... no Mic model in front of it. The the di out will include a mic model to send to the board.
  13. Are there plans in the future to create additional speaker simulations without a mic modeled, for the amp in the room sound? I would love to know that maybe a cannabis rex model without a mic would be available in the future.

    Power Cab 112

I wonder if they will release more speaker profiles without a modeled mic. I really like that idea for just playing at home with a friend or two and having the amp in the room sound. Wish it had a C Rex model! I know I can add IR's, but they always have a modeled mic as well.
  15. Hey, the reason why it is doubling the current and not the voltage is because the special cable that is being used is combining the two outlets on the Zuma in parallel. There are other special adapters that can combine two ports in series, which doubles the voltage to 18v and not the current. I had a set of cables left from a voodoo labs digital and it came with a cable for powering the older pedals like the DL4, they reverse the polarity though, so I spliced it and flipped the polarity back around and used that cable to connect to the current doubler cable plugged into the zuma. Worked perfectly!
  16. I would try the tweed bassman with either the twin or deluxe reverb cabinet. I have worked on a few hot rod deluxes over the years and they seem to be much closer to a bassman circuit wise than to the twin. Then I would choose a cab in the Helix that matches the speaker configuration of your hot rod deluxe. Whether you have the 1x12, 2x12 or 4x10 version. Also, I would probably even look at doing something like this to get closer to the sound of your cab https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8Qrt-Q79U4 After watching that video and trying out the suggestions, I have been having a ton of fun with the stock cabs. The Hot Rod Deluxe is much more bassy than a twin or deluxe reverb. I might be tempted to do the two cab thing as in the video above, with a 1x12 for the deluxe reverb type sound mixed with a 4x12 to get the lower end of the Hot Rod Deluxe added in to taste. Hope some of this might help.
  17. I could be crazy, because I know I do not have the magic ears that a lot of people apparently have, but I feel the M series drives sound better now then they did in the M13 I had. Maybe it is the converters sounding better before hitting my Princeton Reverb? And man did I miss the Growler! I love mixing it low behind a really textured fuzz sound form my fuzz god 2, for a little bit of extra texture.
  18. I tried this for a bit today and it really breathed some new life into the Pod. I was using some of the same ir files in the HX that I use in the Helix and it really opened up the POD amps, plus having the HX effects before and after the amp model sounded great as well. I could see getting buy with that setup if I did not have money for the Helix and already owned the POD HD.
  19. Man, sorry it is not working for you. :( I see lots of people with problems with SPDIF dropping, guess I got lucky.
  20. Have you tried turning off wifi on the machine? Sounds weird and may not work for you, but it did for me.
  21. I am also using an 18i8 with Helix and using spdif without dropping any audio from the Helix. Just throwing it out there that it can work with that hardware. Are you guys running a gen 1 or gen 2 Scarlett? Mine is a gen 1. I bought a gen 2 18i20 and had problems with it and my original studio PC, but not related to Helix. The weird trick I found with that machine was turning off wifi and then the drop outs I was having with the interface became very infrequent. I then upgraded too a newer laptop and the problems went away period. I ended up realizing that I did not need all that IO and went back to my first gen 18i8 with the newer machine and have been using spdif since without any drops. The problem with Spdif is only two channels out, so you still need to split the incoming signal, either with an AB/Y box before the Helix into a focusrite preamp or in the box in the Helix loosing a wet stereo out option, if you want a dry signal to reamp later.
  22. I would love to have a footswitch assigned for bypassing an effect while you are editing it in Pedal Edit Mode. That way I can be making changes to the effect and bypass it from that screen to see how it compares to the sound with it off. Now I have to bend down and use the button on the unit for Bypass, which kind of defeats using pedal edit mode. https://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Bypass-footswitch-in-Pedal-Edit-Mode/920150-23508
  23. I have thought it would be a good idea to assign those two switches to Loop volume up and down. While you can assign the Looper volume to the pedal, if those two foot switches were dedicated then you would not need too and could leave the expression pedal for other assignments.
  24. I also had that problem with my Helix. I had used the mic input just fine and then one day used a condenser and forgot to turn phantom off before unplugging it and plugging in a dynamic. My mic pre in the Helix no longer worked and I had to send it off for repairs. While there may have been bad mic pre's that randomly blew out I find it interesting that at least two of us had it happen following the exact same steps. Maybe there is something happening when unplugging a mic with phantom on or plugging something in with phantom on? From this day forward, I will never turn the Helix's phantom on again....
