  1. I think that the wall main isn't really the problem...since it is 220v like the country from which I bought the amp (France)
  2. As I understand doesn't need to be the same exact model? I thought it was a very special model made exclusively for this amp without any chance to find an equivalent ...keep in mind that I'm just collecting information and I understand that such procedure needs to be done by a professional. If it is the case I may let the chance to a pro to study the bad part in my amp in order to find an equivalent. I found some info on the different input / outputs it gives.. but nothing regarding the internal winding
  3. any chance to get the necessary techs to find an equivalent transformer? what are the important elements to take in consideration to find something equivalent ?? input / output ?
  4. not thinking of just replacing with another one...thinking to bring it to industry professionals in winding different electronic equipments....still need the techs (number of winding ..ect) I know ....I sound desperate
  5. mine is blowing the main fuse as soon as a power it........changed the tubes, same ...this should be the same problem....anyway to fix the power transformer instead of changing it ?? NO available parts here
  6. Didn't open the chassis of course...wouldn't do that without a qualified technician or electronics engineer with me.
  7. Changed the tubes with new ones. Like mentioned everywhere in this forum I used the same brand, the same reference : 12AX7EH Electro-Harmonix approved for the DT50 pre-amps. EL34EH Electro-Harmonix (matched pairs) for the power amps. Unfortunately, the same problem..... powered it up .... the main fuse blew .... I am very sad ...taking into consideration the fact that parts are not available in Algerie and the impossibility to send it to line6 for repair.....it was my dream amp for a couple of months... the possibility of repairing the repairing the inboard power transformer sounds impossible apparently
  8. Hello, My DT50 is blowing the main fuse ( you can read details in my previous post..Would like to thank the community for their help) I would like to troubleshoot the power tubes. Is it safe to try to power my amp without power tubes? The idea behind this is the following: if the problem lies in tubes then the amp won't blow the fuse. Here is what I found on another forum : " You can remove all the tubes no problem. It can be very helpful in determining if a bad tube in an amp is causing a fuse to blow of something else. Remove the rectifier and power tubes. Turn on amp. Fuse blows then you have bigger issues. If it doesn't you put in the rectifier. Blows fuse? bad rectifier. No? put the power tubes in. Blows fuse? bad power tube...etc... Bob" Since there is no tube amp specialist around here, I would like to, try at least, troubleshoot the problem myself before taking it to an electronics engineer. Example, if the problem lies in power tubes I would buy them, take the amp to an electrics engineer , print the necessary documents on biasing the amp ( putting the DT on class ab/ 36 MV as a standard biasing value ..etc) , and ask him to directly change the tubes and bias the amp. Your comments are welcomed, thank you in advance.
  9. Since it is impossible to send my amp to your services, is there any way to buy the part (if it is the transformer) online ?? and bring it to a professional here in Algeria?
  10. Did anyone solve the same problem by changing tubes?
  11. tried 2.5 a FUSE ...nothing same problem .....will try to change the tubes and see ...... I'm very sad really love this amp ...hope will find a solution..
  12. Already read your warning on tube choice and model. From that time I have an L34EH Electro-Harmonix matched pair for my DT. Hope the new 2.5 a fuse will fixe my problem. Otherwise will try to retube it ...hoping for the best.
  13. the amp came from France. the volt of the wall mains is 220V like in France. will try a 2.5 fuse...hoping it was just bad electricity which caused the fuse to blow
  14. I don't really know it is second hand and I suppose the original tubes are still inside. No line6 authorized technician around...I'm far away in Algeria
  15. Hello line6 community, the main fuse 2.5A 250v of my DT50 112 combo blew two hours ago. the amp was in stand by mode and it occurred when I turned it on to play. I tried a 2A 250v fuse two times, but they blew... is the difference between 2.5a and 2a that huge? Or shall I prepare my self for the worst? As I understand it from other posts when this fuse is blown away it signals that the transformer is going bad. can't wait for tomorrow to buy a 2.5 A and try .....hope it will fixe the problem. any experience ??
  16. what I discovred today is the following : harsh sound does not equal too much highs ! I am starting to get the tones im into using combo power amp mode ! the answer is neither studio eq nor vintage eq using parametric eq et graphique eq I discovred that on the contrary the problems lies in the lows and the upper mids : need mod lows / less upper mids / and more highs around 400 khz it is not yet the sound I desire but im starting to get usuable polished lead tones thank you so much everybody once I'm done i will post my preset to share and for further advice special thank to spaceatl who helped me those two past years before even getting my DT amp . you are the one who convinced me to nuy one without trying it and I DONT regret it love this forum see you soon
  17. Hi again, return to this topic. Recntly I purshased the hd model packs and tried them in my monitors and FRFR : the panama AMAZED ME !!!!! once pluged into the DT50 .......the same dissatisfaction ...fizzy tone :( not the real panama sound I got when plugd in frfr using studio direct mode... I ordred a torpedo cab to initially use it with frfr ..... I will try to use it in the Fx loop of the pod with the DT50 and see what may happen... I dreamed of this gear for years ...hope will find a way to get that amazing lead tone with the DT I tried your tips....while it helped little bit , it is far from the result I get with frfr and i spent hours and days using different eqs and corrections ....the mid focus eq gave me that bass response i Desire...but for the highs and high mids nothing helps...maybe if i cranck more the amp and I put my self far away from it my ears will hear a pleasent frequency curve??? OR maybe Im initially searching for a recorded sound without knowing it ???I feel that in direct mode or in frfr the microphone sim adds alot to the highs and brings that nasally but pleasing lead effect I'm searching for ... I'm little bit lost.... I already have a pleasing lead sound using the soldano but it is another kind of polished lead tone that i'm searching for this time further help is welcomed
  18. after lot of experimentations , found my self using the les paul lester pickups on the les paul junior body ! superb sound im finnally done....its different from a real les paul but the most important is that its an inspiring tone TIP : USING the greenback 30 helped alot to get the desired bass response
  19. THANK you so much for the tip..I'm a tweaker i will try it and if it workd will share on vguirarforum.com
  20. note that my problem lies more in the neck position is it possible to get this kind of sound : ANY TIP IS WELCOMED this bluesy feel and frequency curve is what i'm expecting from MY variax
  21. intresting answer so maybe I am after another kind of les paul sound in my mind that I AM unable to replicate on the variax ....i want that hollow dark sound , but with bites and lets say a fair amount of treble attack ...need to tweak my pod with your Les paul presets and see ps: i found that changing cabs help ALOOT ! usualy to a 4x12 for that bassy response expected from a les paul
  22. I was just trying them : the spank are amazing !! despite the lester which I found too nasaly , I love all the rest I think despite minor errors will keep them.. I dont knwo if it is my ears or me or the variax........but till rhis day it seems difficult to work a very good authrntic les paul sound ...why did you choose the gretch body ??
  23. will try them today....i have the 69 ....I see that all the strings are at 100 pe cent ....didn't you find the behaviour of the sound werid at 100 pr cent ?? i ALways put them oh 80 per cent I will be happy if your bundle will sound as I expect my variax to sound will give you my critics
  24. which variax do you play? Im asking the question for the neutral body preset..will the sound change from lets say the 59 to the 89 ?? will try it ....seems a lot of work...how did you spend tweaking ? Thank you so much for sharing also : how do you set global strings volume ??
