  1. Ok, My DT25 head came in today..,
The cab gets here next week

Have any of you swapped out the FR style Celestion in one for a V30 or Greenback to give it a true classic tone?

  2. Perfect choice...

My live sound, playing with a bassist and two other guitars is a lot different then playing by myself at home...

That's why I love the global EQ on the HD500X for a quick way to fix issues...

I up the mids quite a bit and use the volume knob on my guitar or palm mute a lot more when I'm playing or practicing live...

    I'm also a light player...

So pick inflection and palm muting can give more inflection to your playing live too

  3. Some of you guys are being flat mean to an obviously first time user who seams to have an ear for the tone he wants...

    Suggestion...

Ditch the Fender Modeling Amp and Just use the Line 6 unit...

If money is an issue a Roland powered monitor for electric drums works great... As most of us do just take our Line 6 Floor units only to gigs where a PA is already there...

You can also use the powered monitor for your own personal monitor when using it out...

  4. I never looked at a Spider....

I have always been primarily a POD user...

However since I do more playing at home and use my IRig with my IPad and the Line6 Mobile POD when I'm not using my HD500X, the Spider V appealed to me....

I played the V60 and could not get a good tone out of it...

Even being a very experienced line 6 user... From the Pc based UX1, Vetta, X3 till now....

It was Easy to figure out the controls on the V, as I downloaded the manual and it sucked...

Whatever happen to the big books like I got with my X3?

If it's cost effective to post PDFs, give us the whole thing...

    Anyway...

The Spider V60 sounds were Bassy, and not articulate at all no matter what I did...

However, there was a Spider Jam there and I tried it and I was VERY impressed...

Not only with the sound, but also the options and it being loud enough to gig with...

    What happened Line 6?

The Amplify feels cheaply built, my HD500X sound so much better, , and now the Spider V is disappointing...

Are you guys focusing too much on the speaker systems and not the sounds?

The L3T I have is amazing for my HD500X, as a PA and I even use it as a surround sound option for my TV, as it fills the room and sound better than my home unit...

However, you guys at Line 6 MUST realize that changing speaker configurations SERIOUSLY changes guitar tone and response/feel....

My HD500X sounds like crap through my studio monitors, because I have it setup for my LT3.

Do you just load old sounds to a new speaker system?

You guys should rethink your tones based on the new speaker config...

Remember, YOU guys created a culture of gear head sound gurus, and stole us from our reliance on tube amps and peadal tao dancing...

You impressed us, and went BEYOND expectations...

Mod the hardware, adjust the software....

    Please....

    Or keep what works...

Make a Spider Jam with the same sound, options and give it IPad capabilities instead of SD cards...

  5. Ok...

    I have an LT3, A HD500X and a Variax JTV 69 with the S/S/H config...

Things getting tight with my wife's cancer treatments...

SHES gonna get mad at me for selling them...

Question, I played a Spider Jam 75 watt, it sounded good, had a lot of options for playing at home which I do a lot...

And for practice, writing and recording... And loud enough to play out too...

Looking at getting that and the fbv shortboard...

What do you think of this setup?

Does the FBV have the WAH effect built in to the board?

    And...

I heard a rumor that the price drop on the LT3 is because they are being discontinued?

I played the new Spider V and it was to bassy...

The Jam was easier to get a good sound out of...

  7. My wife's cancer came back...

    She is stage 4....

She will be furious because she has always supported my love of music but I would and will give up anything for her...

I need help for her meds....

I have an HD500x, an L3T and a James Tyler Variax 69 S/S/H Sunburst Strat with a custom pearloid pickguard, A 50 foot line 6 link cable and of course the heavy duty 20ft link cable for the guitar to the HD500x...

    We live in Grand Rapids

It's defiantly my dream rig.... Never gigged with, used in my studio, the whole system is not even a year old...

  8. I guess this might be convenient as far as quickly grabbing a basic amp setup.  But I know for myself no matter what the amp I tend to have to play a bit with EQ and basic amp settings to get what I want depending on the guitar I intend to use with the patch.  Personally I don't add any effects to a new patch I'm creating until I'm satisfied with the basic sound.

I guess what I'm saying is I'm not sure if this would really be much of a time saver for me.  Especially since there's probably a number of amp models I doubt I'd ever use.

True for me at first, but I found that I now use amps I never would have even considered before....

I'll get it setup and load my basic patches over the next couple of days and let you guys know as soon as I do

  9. That is the only part I HATE about the HD500

I loose a effect block to Volume and Wah...

Where my X3 Live was already a Volume without using a block,

Then you setup Expression 2 to your effect...

I KNOW you guys at LINE 6 can fix this and free up another block for us... PLEASE

  10.

I got irritated too with my HD500x

But I trust in Line 6 so I did this

One thing I love over my old X3 is having multiple banks bank sets...

It sounds like you are a tone head like me

So I'm gonna make a suggestion...

    Do what I finally did...

Take one full bank set and just set each one up with all of the amps, no effects...

Then play with the amp, cabs and mic settings...

Get basic good tones then add in effects...

I did set up a basic effects line to work with including a volume pedal, a noise gate in front of the amp, a graphic eq set to flat to boost signal on lower volume amps, and a noise gate after...

And just play with the amps....

Then transfer tones/amps to your other set list banks to add and tweek effects...

It really opens up so much, gives you an idea on what wonderful things this unit can do without coloring your tone with effect first....

Gets you to understand your amps better...

Get the upgrade package amps too...

I found that I ended up using Amps that I normally wouldn't even consider...

I KNOW it was because we tend to default to the amps we know...

I found myself using the Engl, and Bogner patches over the Soldono and JCM 800 and 2204 I would normally use...

Also I used to HATE distortion pedals, I want sounds out of my amp...

After I set up basic amp patches, I tried the effects into each one and found that the Roland Jazz amp and the Bassman sound great with different distortion and drive pedals in front...

I would also suggest getting a Line 6 L3t or L2t.... And the smart cable to attach the unit....

The options I have now, and versatility is incredible....

    Don't give up, it's there...

Every time I go into guitar enter and like an amp I'm playing through, I come home and get that tone out of my HD500x...

The global EQ is also a life saver if you have a tone you love but have to play at lower volumes...

Or do a quick cut or boost of a frequency without wanting to mess up your patches...

I might eventually post all of my basic amps on the custom tone...

It was a lot of work

    But well worth it

Would you guys like me to post my basic amp setups?
