  1. I've owned the HD500X and I still own the DT25.  If I were starting from scratch, and only had the 2 choices you offer, I'd go with the Firehawk.  The HD500X can probably get just as good of tones as the Firehawk but it really requires a lot of tweaking for most people.  The Firehawk looks much easier for quickly dialing in great tones.

I currently use a Helix along with my DT25 and PA speakers.

Ooooooh, I'll bet that sounds awesome. Yeah, I wouldn't mind the tweaking, but I want the tones more than anything so I think I'm inclined to go with the firehawk, too.

  2. If you are just playing at your office, go for an Amplifi with the G10 wireless. The Amplifi is small, has great tone capability and the wireless is great because there are no wires!

*Home office.  Not interested in the Amplifi.  Had one of those already.  Liked it well enough.  Looking only at the Firehawk 1500 or the DT setup.  Thanks, though!

  3. :-). Just one note.

While FH 1500 can do a lot, it is not a 100% replacement for "real" hardware. At least I have not been able to set it up in so well yet - only two weeks of toying..

Because of that I have decided to have basically 3 sets of gear, where an end2end modelling set (L6 Variax Standard + FH1500 + FBV3) is the " universal" one.

I also gave a "light" set and an "all tube stage" one.

Of course, your mileage may vary...

You're right about all of it, but I don't gig anymore.  I'm a stay at home dad that loves to play and have good tone while doing so.  I love my stage rig, but it's just too much now.  I figure that the 1500 can do everything I need it to (although I wish the FX modeling was the same as the HD500x) and not take up a ton of space like my gear now does.  Also, the digital component means that my kids can't just walk by and tweak the dials the screw everything up as long as I have my presets saved to the cloud.  I only have two things that I need to know that I can't read about...1) Is it good at low volumes? (which you have answered for me) and 2) Is the tone, overall, good? (which I'll probably have to find a way to demo to be sure)

  4. Hi,

I have tested it at various levels and it behaves well on all.

The tone stays almost (~95% for me) the same.

Up to 50% the volume is incremented in small steps and only then it gets really loud.

I also used it late in the evening and my neighbours did not

file any complaints - I live in an apartment, and the walls are anything but soundproof...

Sweet.  Thanks a ton for the feedback.  I'm still seriously considering this all in one option.  Haven't quite been able to fully commit to letting go of all of the other gear I've collected, lol.  But I'm almost there.  I just need a really good couple of YouTube videos to show it off.  Actually demo-ing it will be difficult because the closest L6 dealer is over 200 miles away.

  5. Can anyone talk about the amp on a low volume setting? This will be my rehearsal amp at home AND with the band and I live in an apartment so I have to keep it quiet and I don't want to be tethered by headphones. Thanks!

  6. Ok... I have really had it with the Amplifi Remote app. Any one seeing the Tuner part of the app acting like you have a bad cable from your guitar to your amp? Mine is jumping around with the Notes as I'm tuning, kind of blinking a lot and not holding steady. As I'm tuning and as the red bars in either direction get closer to being in tune, it starts flashing, blinking, what ever you want to call it instead of smoothly getting in tune. On the amp itself it still works the same, but the Tuner on the app looks glitchy.  I have a Korg Tuner that works the way its suppose too, so I know its not the guitar or patch cord.

I'm right there with you.  The tuner screen on my iPad is trippin' balls, but the knob on my TT is working fine.  I'm upset about their follow through with the software, but after the iOS 9 debacle, I'm willing to tolerate this as long as my TT works.

  7. Hey... I have a fix for this... Its in my post for IOS 9 Fix to get Amplifi working again... Its an easy fix to get the app working again.....

I followed this.  It's nice to have my Amplifi TT back, but now I can't restore all of my apps because of the version of the firmware.  I backed up right before I downgraded, so if Line 6 ever updates the Amplifi App, then I can simply restore.  I shouldn't have to send my iPad back to nothing just because Line 6 wasn't prepared.  It's ridiculous on Line6's part.  Every single time I buy another piece of their gear, their support gets worse and worse.  Unless some major lollipop goes down as a result of this, the TT will probably be the last Line 6 product I own.

  8. Something that would definitely help a disaster like this in the future might be access through Windows or Mac OS X.  If there were an Amplifi Editor for computer, I, as well as many many others, would at least have that second avenue to go down.

  9. OK,I just made a test and the settings are present after the power ON-OFF procedure! Cool! Thanks for the advice! That's all I need! Cheers man! :-)

So are you saying that when you use DT Edit, that when you make changes to everything like EQ, channel volume, etc. that it stores on the amp and all you have to do is change the topology mode and channel number to recall all of your settings?
