  1. I talk to the Line 6 customer service today. I told him about the problems I was having. I also ask him when was my Helix was made because I wanted to make sure that I had every update that I needed. When he told me and I told him about every firmware update that I did he said that everything looked fine from there but he did tell me to make sure I go ahead and reset it. So this time when I reset which I usually do hold the 9 and 10 button down I held it for about 20 seconds until I got the second message on the screen and let it go and the reset seems to be working. The only thing is that the preset button when I turn it to the right one click it's supposed to change the preset no problem, but every once in a while I'll turn it and it won't change the preset. It's like when I turn it too fast and automatically changes real fast but when I turn it slow sometimes it doesn't change it all. I emailed him back and told him about the problem. It's not a big deal since I'm going to use in the foot switches, but I just see if this was a normal thing or was it something that had to be changed out or whatever has to be done to resolve this issue.

  2. Just recently the AX8 was on sale for 1,099.99 and the pedal was about $40.00 cheaper. I was ready to sale my line 6 Helix on eBay and put it up for grabs. I had it up for a few days. What changed my mind was that two days later is what still bothered me not just getting a real good sounding unit, but the fact of not having two amps at once on the AX8 really bothered me. I am trying to be patient with all the line 6 Helix firmware update s, but there is still a need for a lot of improvement. I still have glitches with sound issues, and sometimes the unit hesitates when scrolling through amps for example. I am up to date with the 2.30 firmware. I wish line 6 could create a program to link with the Helix to run a diagnostic test to see what is going on. Maybe it may be missing a update or just have to install a download again. 1-2-18 I went back to the Fractual site and learned that the AX8 out of stock and that I would be placed on the waiting list, and the sale price ended. So I am keeping my line 6 Helix and hoping that with more updates coming, and these problems that I read with the latest firmware 2.30 update will be resolved and keep on adding stuff to this unit.

  4. I updated my Helix 2.30 Software. When I try to tune my guitar it doesn't register hardly at all. So is a simple fix of resetting holding 5 and 6 button down and reset it and then reload my patches?

  5. Ok, I like the best of both worlds using my amp with the Helix. Ok what ever method I choose I cannot decide just to select just a preamp block and save DSP for snapshots. The problem is that I lose a lot of tone especially with the high gain amps. I have to rely on the EQ to try to get that tone back. I used to run right in the front of the amp in a clean Channel mode that way I would not have to do some adjustment just to get the hard metal sound. But that's the general rule with preamp on top of the preamp is not good and creates a little bit of noise I know it's just noise only in a clean Channel but not in the other two channels. I have a marshall jcm 2000 TSL 100 amp. I guess my question is how many of you use the 4 cable method or return the back of the amp and what amp model do you choose. Just a preamp or an amp? I know not to run an amp and cab because the cab inhibits performance especially on some of the patches that I have a separate cab or when I have to turn it off because it just impedance the sound and sounds better playing through my slanted Marshall 4 X 12 cab. Your thoughts one that's because I really love the metal tone like getting Metallica and Judas Priest and so on and so on. So your thoughts on this and what have you experienced.

  6. I was wondering if anybody was considering using Line 6 helix and running through the spider V with the amp off. I'm not sure if it would damage it but I would like to have that capability?

  7. I just got my Marshall back today and I'm happy to report that they found the problem and fixed it that two other repair places cannot find wrong with it. The crackling noise was due to potentiometers being dirty. They clean the Jacks and switches. They tested the tubes, check pin voltages, set bias at 70 Ma tested all function and they checked out okay.

  8. Well the hum x did help eliminate the noise through the little Fender amp. now the Marshall Half Stack is in the repair shop getting other stuff done so hopefully I'll dress that. I think it may be a separate issue. I'm not sure because I had a hum X before at one time and I still got a little crackle through the amp

  9. Some of the stuff I stated in my previous comments before like I'm not hooked up to the USB and other stuff the electrician check the grounding and everything else now as far as being on the same circuit could be a possibility but I know two different rooms and the same scenario obviously they are two different circuits okay maybe not but how do I correct the problem do I keep them on separate circuits or from there that's the question how do I fix it so it stopped different rooms

  10. At the time I didn't have any LEDs when my Marshall stack was doing the noise and crackling sound I don't remember having LEDs at the time. CFL I forget what CFL means but thanks for the oscilloscope and a question I should be asking electrician is what can I do to eliminate it.

  11. To both who Commented. First the electrician tested the outlets use them multimeter and determine there was no problem, and getting 120v steadily. I'm not sure what other tests to do but when you have two different Outlets two different Furman power conditioners and you do not even have the Helix on, it's causing the problem. The other thing the USB is not plugged in oh by the way the den room is my game room which I have the stuff hooked up but when I use the computer I go into my family room the same thing happens to two different Outlets so I am going down Guitar Center today and try to see if the hummocks is going to eliminate part of my problem or if I could spend more money and get more of a better conditioner the ones I have or 6 Outlets and I can't remember the model number off-hand but there about 50 bucks a piece. Now I tried not using the cell phone in the area there are two dimmers one is in the family room and one is in the foyer now I'm not sure if I should just invest in a better power conditioner I'm going to go with a hum X again see if that eliminates one problem as far as my Half Stack it's in repair shop. I'm going to have them look at it and I made a video and let them listen. I told him about the problems that I was having so hopefully I'll get solved today

  12. My Marshall is a tube amp and makes a crackling sound but my Fender is a solid state and it makes more of a buzz sound also. I was not able to get the crackling sound to go away when I had to hum X but then again it was doing it before the helix so something else was causing it. On the fender amp when I unplug the Helix it stops.

  13. I know this topic is probably been discussed before but here's a general question. I noticed that I may have a grounding issue with the helix when the Helix is plugged in on a different Outlet in the same room. I have one of my amps is just a little practice amp a fender frontman 25. I hear that interference noise now when I don't even have the Helix on, but when I unplugged it the noise went away. Now I noticed this in another room also especially when I was downloading the new Helix version at the time and I unplugged it and the noise went away in my amp. I have 2 Furman power conditioners one is in an outlet that the Helix is plugged into, and I have another Furman plug into another outlet with the amp in the same room. So I've been through this noise with several another amp a Marshall Half Stack but it's kind of different noise. I've had a hum X before when I had a line 6 hd500x rack that was so noisy and a plug the hum X and it worked and got rid of it when I returned the rack. I guess my question is take it a chance to get hum x again or if that doesn't work is theres a more serious problem with my Outlets my electrician says I'm doing constant 120 volts in the house built in 1983. So other than a hum x what other options could I do get a better power conditioner to eliminate this ground Loop?

  14. How about a spider V 120 amp a couple months ago and the one thing is that I have played it through my headphones that $150 a pair and they're German model which starts with an s and it sounds killer when I do the adjustment. Are then play it out loud and it sounds like crap anyone replaced their amp speaker with a celestion or another type of speaker where is made a tremendous difference because as far as I'm concerned the only time I'm going to play that amp probably is with the headphones at night practicing it has the potential of being a great-aunt but the question is what a speaker replacement do the job or is it something else that I'm missing or tweaking more someone said that they might take the cab simulations off also but my thing is it just sounds too good through the headphones your thoughts

  15. Has anybody upgraded the speakers in or Line 6 Spider V amp. I play my amp through my headphones with sounds killer and they are $150 a pair and I think they're German models and begins with an s. When I sit there after playing on the headphones and playing out loud it sounds like crap so my question it has the potential of sounding good but the speaker definitely has to be replaced?

  16. I have an LG G5 android phone and I tried to hook it up I got to work temporarily but it course it freezes up. Is there any way in the Future that you can make an editor on a computer? Please think of all the people that have bought these spider V amps. Being a big company like Line 6, and all the problems that you were having with customers complaining about these iPhones iPads not getting it to work properly that you would come out with an editor on the computer. Is it really that hard to do or costly?

  18. Does anybody know if Line 6 is going to put a version application for Editor to control the spider V from a computer. I feel that I don't need to get the latest phone just to do this app. I should be able to do it from a computer. I feel that this was a waste of money and a bad decision on my part.
