  1. How does it sound on a blank preset? Then just add a preamp of choice. The Line 6 built presets are likely full amps and so on. I have not found any pre-programmed preset that i liked. Block by block, build your own sound from a blank preset. Worth a shot!
  2. With the 10m input impedance, any either one should work. You said variable, so I believe you can set unity gain that way. If it can handle it, line would provide better signal to noise ratio. I would contend that getting to line level sooner in a signal chain will have less noise issues if any
  3. Thanks. For the quick reply. Is it the same support team for problems with the Helix or is there a forum support of some sort?
  4. What is your setup with Helix? I am a guitar guy. At first I found it difficult to go straight to Helix. I started as just a preamp into my real amp. Got it sounding better then my original. Then I took the next step and went into to alto110as on stage as my backline amp, no FOH. Got that sounding better then last setup. Now, no amps, no on-stage "backline". Guitar to FOH and, stage monitors. Long, still continuing learning curve. Try to just replace preamp with helix, keeping all else the same. See what you get. And so on...
  5. Not gear related. Anyone know how to change the forums user name. I changed my line 6 user name but it does not port over to the forum. I prefer not starting a new account. (If even possible with my registered products and warranties, etc.) I figured this was the best forum to post in, the largest most active group. And I am a proud Helix owner. :)
  6. Do you mean if you have, for example, a delay block on preset1 and the same delay on preset2 that it should stay trailing between presets? That would be cool. I can see maybe line 6 can load only different blocks between presets instead of dumping all and reloading all.... ....but that may be impossible. I do not know the technical aspects of the system, chips, etc.....
  7. ...six of one... The first 3 sound so close, not any difference in the mix as far as I'm concerned. The last one is slightly different, low mid-range hump. But still sounds great. All 4 are up to par for recording quality. IMHO.
  8. I personally don't do this. Trying to give the OP I quoted a possible solution. I'm not sure how nice the headphone amp will play with gear inputs. Well padded it "should" work. ?
  9. You can send xlr OR 1/4 to the headphone jack. Then get one of these.... https://www.google.com/search?q=trs+to+ts+y+cable&tbm=shop&lsf=seller:12145,rt:4,pgb:1,cid:16323630426117729791,pid:2618604396819070981,oid:2155687329359429335&hl=en&ei=z6FjWdqkAYysjwS78L0Q&lsft=gclid:Cj0KCQjwy4zLBRCOARIsADfss37cWA-XAcMDYZBCC0A-8C-9i2U8-HXCAF72IAv30QTlMFtwrBUpuBUaAmuqEALw_wcB
  10. A few suggestions...... 1) Open a blank, "New Preset". Plug in guitar and play with headphones. Any distortion? 2) Put a mono block (mono gain block) in the path, any distortion? 3) How much louder is the preset you made that distorts vs the guitar only version? I always create my patches so that they are about unity gain with just my guitar alone. There is a little boost when i push some drive pedals for leads Etc, but not too much. I find most of the Line 6 default levels are too high. I generally turn done the "Ch Vol" to adjust the output. I hope some of this my solve your issue and its not a hardware problem.
  11. I'm hoping for, as seen lately with the Amps (Litigator), that line 6 will start putting in their own creation effects. Its essential to have a TS808, Memory Man, Etc modeled effects, but a fully adjustable line 6 delay, reverb, drive, distortion, etc. would be great. https://line6.ideascale.com/a/idea-v2/902154
  12. Kind of off but on topic.....
  13. They could do a rebate style discount. but I'm already sure they thought of that.
  14. Your line of thinking is good. I tend to use the same cab (4 x 12 25) as a basic cab for most patches, I then add a second parallel cab to enhance certain tones. ie I may put a bluebell cab when using an AC 30 just to give it some of that signature tone, but still keep the 4 x 12 for push...
  15. in editor, select the block you want to stop being affected by the Toe Switch of the Expression Pedal. select bypass assign now change value to "None". (not sure which one, I am away from Helix)
  16. QSC one the floor is a huge issue. Up on a small poll would be much more accurate for matching a PA. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SSAS7000B For home use
  17. Don't forget to bring a long xlr cable, so you don't move the stage cable. There's may be fixed and not able to move up to your Helix. (Assuming floor model) Place your monitor (Roland, etc) where your amp should go. My worry is that since you're first, the sound man will be using your sound check as a basis for the rest of the bands. It may mess up the quick check for the second band.
  18. On the Helix use Send 1 (or Send 2, 3, or 4). Place a Send 1 block first in the Helix effects chain. Like this.... You can place this block using the editor or directly on the Helix itself.
  19. Do you have 1/4 input available on Scarlet? If so you can put a send block as your first block in the preset. Record it as a separate mono dry track. Also record spdif as wet track. For reamp set Helix input block to digital and output to digital. Let us know if this works.
