  1. This is probably a direct relation to the stomp switch lag, which is a confirmed bug that is being worked on by the Helix team.

Your description is likely exactly what's happening; a stepped, cascading kind of switching.

Watch for the next firmware (expected to be v2.21) upcoming; your issue will likely vanish with that.

I also recommend Snapshot mode to do this switching - perhaps try this by duplicating your preset, and work it out to do the switching that way.

I have an important preset which predates Snapshots, so my method is exactly as yours above - stomp switch swapping amps etc.

What I found when I did a test version using Snapshots to do the switching was that it was a smoother switch - no audible artifacts.

(I happen to think that the order in which you assign the changes to the stomp switch is important, in the smaller-details world; I stack them so that there's less likely to be noise, and that seems to work).

    OK, thanks for the information!

...I have reinstalled version 2.12 and and everything works fine.

So I hope they fix it soon

  2. Firmware 2.20 Bug?

I have some presets where I change the amp model and some effects at the same time with one stomp mode switch.

There is a little “noise/latency†when I press the switch. It sounds like the blocks/parameters not switching exactly at the same time.

I didn’t have this problem in earlier firmware versions.

  3. I remember when I got my firts pitch pipe, too. ...I thought, how should I ever get my guitar tuned with this thing?!

(I was an absolut beginner at this time)

    ...

The new update looks nice, I see some interesting things. :)

...an acoustic bass amp, but where is the acoustic guitar amp, line 6? :o

  4. OK, that’s right. But I’m from Europe and a repair will take at least several weeks (…I can't find a time where I don't need the Helix). And after a repair it’s not guaranteed, that another switch will start to make problems. It's only a "little" contact problem, so I tried to fix it myself. You only need a screwdriver, contact spray and some patience. But you’re right, if you’re technically untalented you should sent it in repair.

  5. I don't normally use the top row of footswitches for anything other than switching presets, but last night I thought I'd mess around with some of the factory sounds and I noticed that the footswitch second from the left on the top row (footswitch 2) is not working right. Sometimes when I push it it doesn't toggle, other times it does but then it toggles right back off. I can hold it down and if I move my foot a little bit it will switch, sometimes on then off then on then off... I can hear it physically clicking, so I'm not sure if this is a hardware or a software issue. Has anyone else experienced this? My nearest repair shop is probably 40 miles from me...

Yep, some switches unfortunately have contact problems

I solved the problem, but it is a little tricky because you have to open the Helix and to remove the switchboard.

That’s not very difficult, but you have to remove a lot of screws and two data cables to get it out.

There are little push button switches under the chrome part. I cleaned the contact surfaces between them.

Then I dribbled some contact spray on the button switch and pressed the switch a few times to get the spray inside.

I had 2 switches that did not work right, but now every switch works perfect.

  8. I had the switch issue with my up bank a while ago. Sent it back to Sweetwater for a new one to low and behold get one that has another faulty switch. The tactile switches they use exist in some of the other line 6 products. They are cheap and unreliable!! I have the M9 and had to change all the switches as they became faulty after a while. Quite dissapointing to some of the old stomp boxes which last forever :(

Yep, they don't use special stompbox footswitches. These cheap switches, you can find everywhere(notebooks, radios, ...) Not the best solution for an effect pedal.

  9. I don't know if a rubber protector would really prevents the oxidation. I think you need an airtight vacuum switch for this.

I opened my Helix today. There are standard 4Pin 6mm push button switches on the motherboard underneath the chrome parts.

    something like this> http://shortcircuit.com.my/4-pin-tactile-touch-push-button-switch.html

So (after the warranty), it is possible to repair it with a soldering iron.

These 4Pin switches are installed in many multi-media devices, but there should be a better solution for a 1500$ high end device.

I tried to get some contact spray into it, ...maybe it helps

  11. Yeah, but isn't it strange that 3 switches are dead? I mean, 1 footswitch, it's a faulty one, but 3 faulty switches out of 12 seems really high, so I suspect it might not only be the switches :(

That's is very annoying. But I'm pretty sure it is a contact problem inside the switches. ...perhaps a faulty batch?

Maybe Line6 could make some sensitivity adjustments in a firmware update, but I'm not really sure this would help.

  12. I've got 3 switches that are doing the same (recognized as double presses 10% of the time), and I can't send the Helix in repair, because here in Europe, it will take at least several weeks, and I can't find a time where I don't need the Helix for a few weeks (rehearsal, gigs, studio, ...)

Can you keep me posted if you got more infos on it? (software, hardware, if hardware how has it been repaired, ...)

    Thank you very much!

I have the same problems, ...from Europe and can't find a time where I don't need the Helix, too.

I will ask the dealer next week how long a repair will last.

Sometimes the switches work good and sometimes 50% double presses. Then I have to rotate the switch a little and it's better.

But the only way to fix it long term is to change the switch.

  13. Same switch

...and the first after the preset footswitch begins to make problems, too :( (recognized a double press)

Switching the button quickly several times seems to work. But I fear it's a short term resolving?!

These problems should not appear on 1500$ board. I never had these issues on the pod500.
