Thank you for the response. I did try that but I’m only getting the left signal when hooking it up like that with a mono send and stereo return.
Having already checked all the cables and the pedal itself for error there must be something in the Helix I’m to dumb to understand.
Do you use the correct inputs for the stereo return? (return 1 + 2 or return 3 + 4). Have you test it in a new preset?
-
Yes, you can use a mono send block and a stereo return block.
-
Have you tried a reset of the global settings(FS 5+6) or a factory reset? (FS 9+10)
-
Use the return 1 input for one mono signal and the return 2 for the other mono signal.
Insert return block 2 after return block 1(mix 50%) and you have a mixed signal
Or you can use a splitted path (return 1 block in path 1A and return 2 in path 1B, for example) Then you can add a mix block, stereo effects and the stereo send 1+2 block.

would just some contact cleaner free that up a bit? or whats my best option?
Contact Cleaner can help, but then you have to open the Helix otherwise you will not get it in the micro switch(as codamedia has already sad)

Is there a way to do a HARD factory reset? Like to the original firmware or something? "Factory Reset" only restores original presets and not firmware.
No. You can only try to start the Helix in Update mode (FS6+12).
If you still get no connection and you have tried everything else (reinstall HX Edit/drivers, different port/cable/computers), then maybe it's a hardware problem.

None of this worked. I updated HX edit to 2.82. Using windows 10, Helix has latest firmware. I would like to just access the preset list in order to manually reload the presets but it will not let me select the preset bank just keeps saying that 8201 error wasn't initialized properly.
Have you tried to load your backup after a factory reset?
...I hope you did one

on windows 10 found i needed to install the latest hx edit in order for windows to detect the helix again after the OK prompt on the firmware update now running the update again
would recommend to others backup with hxedit old version , then update hxedit ( which grabs the new line6 updater ) and then run the updater this should then allow the update to complete ok which mine does now seem to have and is now updating.
I had waited for ages previously and then turned off the helix and closed the updater and got stuck in boot mode , the fix was downloading the new hxedit which downloads new windows 10 usb drivers
That's exactly what it says in the update instructions ;)

The only thing you need is the HX Edit 2.82 installer (everything you need is included, ...drivers, updater, HX Edit program). Download and install(When you get to the options section of the install, leave them all checked). Then start the Line 6 Updater and connect your Helix. Login and you can download/install the firmware.

Have you tried to reset the global settings ( Holding footswitch 5+6 on boot )?
-
If the update mode does not work and you can not reinstall the firmware, then the only way is to send it in for repair.
-
Have you try to make a reset?
(5+6 on boot restores Global parameters or fs 9+10 on boot restores presets, setlists, globals and IRs (restores factory bundle) "THIS WILL OVERWRITE ALL USER PRESETS AND SETLISTS)
Can you enter update mode (fs6+12) and reinstall the firmware?
Otherwise I think it's a hardware problem and you have to open a support ticket.

I wanted the new update, as i was running 2.71. Went through the steps, everything was going fine, it got stuck half way and didn't budge, i even left it going overnight.
The mistake i made was closing helix updater, and restarting helix. Now it's stuck on the boot failure update screen, and helix updater can't even detect it.
I searched through as much as i could find, tried the reset buttons and what not, nothing i do seems to work. I need help.
Turn off the Helix and close all line6/audio software.
Reinstall HX Edit (2.82) - When you get to the options section of the install, leave them all checked.
Start the Helix with FS6 and FS12 pressed (update mode)
Start the LINE 6 Updater.
(...don't use a USB-HUB, try annother USB-port
if it still does not work use annother computer for the update)

I might try and put a volume block along with so I can tweak the level from the Helix.
You can do that. But you can also tweak the level in the return block (or output block, when you use a seperate path)
...It's not really necessary to use a seperate path(unless you want to add own effects or EQ to your mp3 tracks). You can simply place the return block at the end of the chain.

Updating from 2.60 to 2.82. Did all the necessary software updates etc. Backed up my unit whilst in 2.60 hx edit and again when i updated hx edit to 2.82.
The firmware has been updating for a long time and has been at the half way point for about 30-40 mins. The unit currently says "Boot Failure. Entered Update Mode!" which the instructions in the Line 6 updater says it would do and not to worry. I'm worried now it's stuck. Should it take so long? Most sources online say it takes 5-10 mins.
Followed all the instructions to the letter.
Should I restart the process or wait? It's been a long time!
Turn off the Helix and close all line6/audio software.
Reinstall HX Edit (2.82) - When you get to the options section of the install, leave them all checked.

If it does not work, you can download the firmware file(Flash Memory) from the line6 Homepage and then use the "choose file" option in the updater.

Reinstall HX Edit (2.82) - When you get to the options section of the install, leave them all checked.

I get the following error when trying to install HX Edit.
“HX Edit.pkg” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software. This software needs to be updated. Contact the developer for more information. This is on MAC Catalina.
I 'm not sure this works: Right click the file and click open. This should bring a pop-up window with an options to open the file anyway

Hi, I updated my Helix LT but faced issue. There was error and could not connect to the updater even I entered to Update Mode.
Any recommendations?
If the update mode(FS6+12) does not help, close all line6/audio software and turn off / unplug the Helix. Then reinstall HX Edit 2.82 with all included drivers.
Start the Helix and the Updater.
Using external pedal with mono input in stereo (Helix)

strange, if the pedal and the cables are OK this should work :/
