  1. Wow kid.  You need to calm down and stop acting so entitled.  It's nobody's fault but your own that you can't remember your password.  There are no loops to go through.  If you can't remember it, write it down somewhere.

Read my post again.  I never said anything about a shorter password.  Most people don't have any problems at all remembering their passwords.  And suggesting that you make your password something that you can remember is not an idiotic suggestion.  It's actually a common suggestion when it comes to passwords.

So drop the attitude.  You're the one making it "personal".

  2. iPhone 6+, latest OS. "Most of the time" is the problem. Why should anyone, instead of playing for 15-20 min. while lying in bed going to sleep instead curse himself for having forgotten the password, get up to log on to their computer to retrieve the bloody password, so they can instead of playing write an angry post???

Syncing??? Seriously? Remember the feature that made you stop your guitar playing and press an OK button JUST TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU UNDERSTAND AMPLIFI SOFTWARE LOST CONNECTION AND IS RECONNECTING - ALMOST EVERY TIME YOU CHANGED A PRESET? Based on MY suggestion this feature was eliminated and now it is doing it automatically, saving the end-user silliness time.

I now suggest this button is brought back, but with the SYNC function instead. In other words, make syncing automatic and prompt the user to acknowledge it.

And design it so either the user or the software decides the frequency of the sync.

    NO MORE LOGINS, PLEASE!!!

Having to log in once every 2-3 months is no big deal.  Perhaps you should make your password something that is easier to remember.

And the syncing is already automatic.  That's why it says "syncing" when you open the app.  There's no need to press any additional buttons or go through any other steps.

If you don't want to log in while you're somehow "lying in bed going to sleep" while playing guitar at the same time, then skip the login and use the tones stored on your amp.

  3. On "Now Playing" screen, you hit that little up arrow to the left of the tone name to add it to your favorites. I don't think there's a way to favorite tone if you just do a manual search for it, though.

Thanks!  Now if only you could favourite one of your own tones without uploading it to the cloud first.  The majority of the user tones are horrible.

I guess the devs at Line 6 need to do a little better with quality control and making sure that the app is consistent across all the tabs (since the instructions given on the favourites tab are showing an incorrect icon).

  4. C'mon! What is the point? - Not your point, OUR point! I just want to click on the icon and use the amp. It's not like I am trying to use it illegally! I have been complaining about this login ridiculousness for ages! The best you could do was create a LOGIN AS GUEST button? - The LOGIN AS GUEST button does NOT give access to the player! Whom is this button for??? People without the amps?

C'MON. PLEASE ELIMINATE THE REPEATED LOGINS!

Why am I typing this at 1:15am??? I have already logged in a hundred times since I bought the amp! WHY?

    Unbelievably insensitive.

What version of the app are you using, and what OS (iOS or Android)?  There is no "guest login" option (at least on iOS).  You can click on "skip login" and the app works just like normal, except you have no access to "My Tones", "Favourites", or "Cloud", or the Music player (since it auto-searches the cloud for tones)

The "amp" portion of the Amplifi still works as normal.  You still have access to all the tones saved on the amp itself.  And since the Music panel in the Remote app is simply acting as a skin for the native Music app on iOS, there's no need to use it anyway.

  5. I'm using Ableton Live.  I did figure out the trick of a "flat" effect to get a dry signal.

But want I want is all the DAW output to play out the speaker, but NOT the guitar signal. (The guitar sound is run into Ableton, processed, and then sent to the speaker with the other sounds.)

Yeah, there's no way to do that.  For that, you should just get yourself a 1/4" to USB guitar interface to use as an input for your DAW and then use the USB on the Amplifi as your output, or buy a good pair of monitor speakers to output the sound directly from your computer.

  6. Is it possible to feed the guitar-input from his pedal output and have the TT not add any effects?

This way, he can use the TT's Bluetooth to wirelessly send a signal to a Bluetooth enabled amplifier/speaker?

Anyone have experience using the TT this way?

Yes, you can turn off all of the effects on the Amplifi TT and use only effects from a pedal board.  Just use the Remote app to turn any effects off.

You can't stream the output from the TT to a bluetooth speaker though.  The bluetooth on the TT is an input only.  Meaning you can stream music TO the Amplifi TT, but not FROM the TT.

In order to send the guitar output from the TT to a speaker system you need to use one of the audio outputs on the back (either one of the Main Outs, or the Optical Out).  You can also use the "Amp Out" jack to hook up the Amplifi TT to another guitar amp.

Also, just to clarify what usnavychiefret said, you cannot store any tones on the FBV Shortboard.  The Shortboard is an interface to interact with the Amplifi TT/75/150 only.  All of the tones are stored on the amp itself.

  7. I'm not sure what DAW you're using, but I've used my Amplifi 75 with GarageBand a few times.  To mute the amp's speaker output, just turn down the Overall (red) volume.

Also, the way I managed to get a clean/dry signal is to create a preset that removes the amp and any effects.  Under the "Clean" amps you can select either "no amp" or a tube preamp.

  8. Did you install the driver (Windows only, if you're using Mac it doesn't need a driver) and hook up the amp to your computer via USB?

You can update the firmware via an iOS device (iPhone, iPad) as well if you want to do it wirelessly, however it takes a lot longer to do.  It's about 3-5 minutes via PC/Mac, and typically takes over an hour via an iOS device.

  9. That's just how it works.

It's incredibly slow to search for and load tones, and that slowness also affects the app when it comes to starting, stopping, and pausing tracks as well.  It seems to be a combination of both the amp and the app.

There used to be an option to save a tone as a favourite, which then would be loaded automatically whenever the song/artist was played so long as the information saved with the tone was set up properly (i.e. the artist name, song name, etc) but that seems to have been removed in the latest version of the app.  Probably because it never really worked that well.  Though oddly enough, the app still makes reference to adding favourite tones.

Hopefully in a future update they'll add an option to turn off any kind of tone searching at all.  Most of the user uploaded tones in the cloud are terrible and the "matching" system is a farce.  If there are no tones in the cloud with that match the artist of the song you're playing, you get randomly selected tones matches that make no sense.

For instance, playing "Put A Flower In Your Pocket" by The Arcs will get you tone matches for Coldplay, Paramore, and the Metal: Rhythm tone.

  10. I just got one for a christmas gift and now need to return it because it is useless without the app

Did you update the firmware to the latest version?  If you just got it, it probably shipped with the original 2.0 firmware.

  11. ok and one more thing for the road: Called line6 and they are aware of the problem... been tracking it for a while now.

    Don't save tones to 1A (and I suspect 1B, 1C, and 1D).

As more firehawk/pod users try to use an amplifi as a passthrough, there is a desire to replace the default power-on bank tone as a clean effects-free zone (since that comes from your fx box).

    -d

It must be specific to certain production runs of the amps.  I can safely overwrite any presets, including all of bank 1, without any problems.  In fact, saving my top 4 tones into bank 1 again was the first thing I did after updating to the latest firmware.   I've always had bank 1 set up with my favourite tones since I got the amp.

My Amplifi 75 is about 14 months old, though it's also been in for service (in October) and had the main board replaced.  Or at least I was told it was replaced.

  12.

I also am not aware that any top tab or bottom mode icon is a "red on red" color combination (your point #5). The top tabs are black words on dark red background (selected) and dark red words on black background (unselected). The bottom mode icons are red words on black background (selected) and dark red words on black background (unselected).

So maybe the problem isn't your vision.  Maybe you're colour blind or you don't have the brightness on your iPhone screen turned up high enough.  Both the top tab and bottom tab have red backgrounds, not black.  In fact, both the top and bottom have the same red (it's actually closer to maroon).  The only major difference in colour between the top and bottom tabs is that the text in the top tab is contained within a red box when selected.

The only parts on a black background are the contents of each tab (or the centre portion if you will).

And yes, overall there are more than 1 instance where black text is on the screen.  But only 1 word at any given time.  I guess I could have been clearer about that.

The get the old layout you have to go into settings and turn off "Use Tabbed Navigation".  That will give you the old layout that was used with the app before the 2.5 update.  However, this will also change the layout of the entire app and then you're really going to hate the ergonomics.

  13. Okay...

#1 - I was suggesting you need glasses, not that you wear them already.  I have 20/20 vision, and I have no problems reading the text in the app, whether on the iPad or the iPhone.  In fact, it could be smaller and it would still be readable.

#2 - You said "even enlarged, you still cannot read the text".  That's just absurd.  Not only can it be read at regular size, it's even easier when enlarged.  You should also keep in mind that the display on the iPhone (4 and up) was designed to be viewed best at a distance of 10 inches.

#3 - You said nothing about being restricted to an iPhone as your only device.  And considering that the Amplifi Remote app was designed to mainly be used with the iPad (as evident from all the promotional material), it's not an unwarranted suggestion.  The idea that my suggestion to try an iPad was being "cavalier about cost" is laughable as well.    Especially considering you can get an iPad for less than the price of the amp.

#4 - You said "No design class I ever have attended has suggested that black type on a dark red background in 3 point size is great ergonomics."  There is literally 1 word that is in black text.  All the other text is either white, or red.  Mentioning that fact isn't "unhelpful or misdirection to the specific portions" you were critiquing.  Implying that there are portions of the interface that contain black text is misleading.  Again, there is 1 word in black text.

#5 - We don't agree, since to me those areas have no problems at all.  By mentioning them I was pointing out that the text is red on red, with the exception of 1 word.

Anyway, there's no point going back and forth.  Clearly you're not comfortable with anybody disagreeing with you.

Try and enjoy the app for what it is.  One of the Line 6 reps mentioned a little while back that they might consider adding new themes to the app in the future.  Maybe they'll give you something you like better.

But I wouldn't get your hopes up.  Browse through the forum and you'll soon find out that Line 6's customer support isn't great and that changes and updates are slow to come.

Besides, I'm sure after using the amp for a little longer you'll find, as most of us have, that there are many more concerning problems with the Amplifi amps and the Remote app than the text size and colour.  For most of the users here, this amp and the app have been a pretty big headache.

OK, LIne6, I get it. You are extraordinarily enamored with your red/black color scheme for the Amplifi product line. For sure, that is good marketing and instantly identifies the product. Nice touch. Understood.

However, are you really foresworn to push those colors all the way through the entire Amplifi Remote app, completely oblivious to the problem of user ergonomics? Even when text is involved? You have got to be kidding. Form trumps function to the max here. No design class I ever have attended has suggested that black type on a dark red background in 3 point size is great ergonomics. You literally cannot read anything, for goodness sake! Even when the screen is saved and enlarged, you still cannot read the text! The problem is acute at the top of the screen with the tabs within a mode, and the bottom of the screen with the app modes themselves.

Look. I love your Amplifi product. I actually love the remote app in general. But I am begging Line6 on my knees for a better Amplifi Remote screen color layout on the iPhone. No black text on dark red background in 3 point type! If we just have to have the dark red background, please change the text color to white or yellow or something that is actually readable! And can you please enlarge that point size just a bit in most fields throughout the app?

I love your app, but using the app for more than a few minutes is driving me crazy and blind on the iPhone. The user interface can be better. Don't let form trump function in such a non-sensical way for visual ergonomics.

  14. I have no trouble at all reading anything in the app.  Been using it for over a year with no problems (with reading) at all.  Perhaps you need glasses or contacts.  Or maybe an iPad.

Pretty much ALL of the text in the app is white, with the exception of the bottom toggles (which are red on red) and the top bar, of which only one is black (the one selected.  The other is red on red).

Anyway, for what it's worth, you can switch back to the original layout and colour scheme in the app's settings.

  15. I had no idea that you can record via the USB port.  I swear it isn't mentioned in the user manual.

The user manual hasn't been updated since the initial release.  The recording capability was only added with the 2.10.0 firmware update in December of 2014 (the last firmware before the new 2.50 update).

If you're using Windows, make sure you download the drivers supplied by Line 6 on the support page.  The native drivers that Windows installs doesn't seem to work for a lot of people.

  16.

PC Amplifi App PLEASE (and an option to link to the amp directly as opposed to relying on Wifi only which has proven problematic)!

USB Interface for recording A MUST!

    Everything else is as advertised.

    John

The amp doesn't connect to anything via Wifi.  It's a bluetooth connection.

And it can already record via the USB port.

  17. Thanks for the reply.  Yeah, I get that part of the iPad only playing what is on the iPad but I don't get the little cloud picture with the arrow like I get when I download movies from Flixter or wherever.  I have the setting on my iPad to show only songs on the iPad.  I am trying to figure out how to get the cloud to show up so I CAN download them onto my iPad.  It is really weird that this thing is acting this way.  I was concerned I don't have enough memory left on this 16GB iPad but I have 4 gigs free memory and can't download a few hundred megabytes of music.

You have to do that in the Music app on your iPad, not the Amplifi Remote app.  The Amplifi app can't manage your music collection, it can only do playback.

If you're unsure about how to make music available offline in the iOS Music app, you can find instructions online by googling it.
