  1. I am an amp model addict. I love the choices. I love the variety. I love the subtle difference. I also don't suffer from option paralysis. POD Go (and Helix) allow me to work quickly to find what I need and having another dozen options doesn't slow me down. My predictions for some future POD Go update: Every new amp model, eventually Acoustic sim (only about 10% DSP on helix) No poly pitch (50+% DSP on helix!) No 12-string sim (also 50% DSP) Ballistic fuzz might not make it @ElectroStrat, re: Cosmos Delay. That's based on the Roland RE-201 and is indeed a fantastic delay. Did you know Helix actually has two models of the RE-201? One is the Cosmos Echo which is the new HX model. The other is under the Legacy folder and is called Multi-Head and is the RE-201 model from the POD HD series. Fortunately for us, the Multi-Head model of the RE-201 is available on POD Go! It's a different sounding model but is still a quite good delay and can help capture that classic RE-201 sound. Try it out!
  2. Helix: https://shop.line6.com/marketplace/satch-style-with-ir-for-helix.html POD Go: https://shop.line6.com/marketplace/satch-style-with-ir-for-pod-go.html HX Stomp: https://shop.line6.com/marketplace/satch-style-with-ir-for-hx-stomp.html The Satch tones are done for all three platforms and live in Marketplace at the links above! I started playing guitar in 1989 just a few months before Flying in a Blue Dream was released. I was reading all the guitar magazines at that time and Satch was on the cover of every single one! Surfing with the Alien was the first tab book I bought at the local music store. I can't really play anything like Satch but he was such an inspiration to me that I certainly spent many hours trying! This history is why it was such a special set of tones for me to work on.
  3. I was easily doing 16-track recording on a 0.1ghz CPU back in 1996. The bare requirements just to run Windows are far higher than what is needed to record audio and midi! So an i3 will run Windows dog slow but will still record plenty of audio tracks. Slower CPU may also require higher recording latency. This is not a problem if you are going to use the computer like a tape machine. It is a giant problem if you want to play the computer like a synthesizer or amp sim.
  4. @SaschaFranck I don't have any solution to latency but I have a few workarounds that I use in your two stated use cases. When I need to audition many IRs I will do this by recording a short loop with no cab on it and can then spin through IRs quickly. Once I narrow it down to a few I'm interested in then I can load those 3-4 onto the unit for more "interactive" experimentation. For soft-synths, I have always favored playing live midi keyboard with a "proxy sound" for hard-monitoring and recording the midi. Then I can audition and tweak the recorded midi through the softsynths of choice. I don't know if either of these workarounds will be good for your situation but it's how I approach the issue of latency in those two use cases.
  5. The latency really only matters if you need soft-monitoring. And if you do, then it matters. For the "general" use case, with Helix, for guitar players, soft-monitoring is never necessary. Hard-monitoring is effectively zero latency and that's probably how most people are expected to (and do) use Helix as an interface. I know it doesn't solve your specific problem but maybe hardware monitoring could be an option for you.
  6. @mudmun there's no secret way to go lower than the lowest setting. You may need an external EQ pedal if none of the built in EQs go low enough for your use case :(

    rate my tones

No idea of the original song but I found your take groovy.
  8. Here's another one. A snapshot is like when you convince your singer to get down and twist the knobs on your delay and chorus during the solo. A preset is like when you have the roadies completely swap out your amp and pedals between songs.
  9. Ignore all settings and record USB 3 as it will be the raw guitar input with no processing.
  10. I'm failing to re-surface the source but the cab hi/low pass filters are more gentle than those in the EQ blocks. I want to say the cabs are maybe 12dB while the EQ blocks are 24dB. My memory is hazy but the cabs' filters are not as steep as the EQs'. I personally find this desirable as the roll-off of highs on most guitar recordings is a more gentle slope but it means the cab cuts will maybe be a bit more natural but you'll need to cut deeper while the EQ cuts will be more immediate but can be kept less severe. I hope that makes sense.
  11. @datacommando all true, for sure
  12. @baldgeezer, in addition to the other excellent advice in this thread, you can also drag'n drop presets directly into the editor. Drop it onto the left where it shows "New Preset" or whatever preset you are wanting to replace.
  13. It won't allow you to send it to 2B until you actually have a 2B to send it to. Split the bottom path so the input shows two blocks and it won't be grayed out anymore.
  14. Do you have POD Go Edit up and running? That's the first step. Then click on the pink IR folder and drag'n drop the files into there.
  15. The most awesome thing about modern units is they allow you to go either way. You can put them all before the amp in a traditional pedalboard setup or put them all after the speaker in a traditional studio setup. Or you can break all the rules and make whack sounds.
  16. It will sound different to HD500 but what you're describing is possible. For the clean/ambient thing: Fender amp and cab (or turn off amp/cab for DI) plate reverb delay dual pitch block (you can run both the octave up and octave down in a single block You always have volume pedal, wah, eq on every preset There is now still one open block to do whatever you want with it If you want separate control of the octave up/down you could either split it (as you currently do) and use up the last free spot or you could use stomp mode or snapshot assignments to change its configuration. For the standard tones: There is a noise gate built into the input block so if noise gate at the front of your signal is sufficient for you then you don't need to use a block for it amp/cab reverb delay chorus You always have volume pedal, wah, eq on every preset Sounds like you kind of already worked all this out for yourself already so not sure if I'm shedding new light on it for you. Any other questions? I own both POD Go and Helix Floor and used an HD500 as my main rig for six years. So I can certainly answer more questions about the ecosystem.
  17. ...but you CAN run HX Edit on iPad using sidecar (requires also a mac computer). https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210380
  18. Do you accidentally have anything plugged into the EXP2 jack on back of POD?
  19. @resrocks can you share a preset here that's having the problem?
  20. Don't bee fooled by the plastic bottom. It is very sturdy. I'm sure it would handle someone's full weight on it (but breaking the knobs would always be a bigger concern to stand on any unit).
  21. Amp distortion and pedal distortion are totally different. I use whichever one is most appropriate for you and for any given situation.
  22. Slight distortion. Washy delay and reverb. Lots of finger vibrato. Swell in each not with volume pedal so there's no attack.
  23. Make sure you are down with the basics. Some important concepts: The computer records inputs You hear outputs The computer won't record outputs Helix allows your "guitar sound" to be heard as an output while also sending it to many inputs Your computer playback is only an output (and not an input) This is what allows a DAW to work (because you can listen to playback of already recorded tracks while recording only your unimpeded input) There exists add-on software (BlackHole is my preference, but Soundflower is the older one) that makes your computer think outputs are inputs, but it requires configuration Which part of the above are you having trouble getting setting up. Then we can help you with more details about that part.
  24. I'm personally in love with the AC15 at edge of breakup with the Xotic Boost to push it over for higher gain rhythms and add Zendrive on top of all that for leads. Smoov.
  25. @jwoertz HXFX definitely much more flexible and a lot more routing features if you are not using amp/cab stuff.
