  1. Before you even considering selling/buying anything, absolutely go get the demo version of Native and set it up on your computer and play through. Some people can deal with the latency and some can't. You must find out which camp you are in before you put out $$$!
  2. Looks like that product says it comes with a 1/4" adapter.

    wah pedal ?

Use it like a traditional wah pedal. Press down on the "toe" of the pedal and you should feel a little "click" that toggles the wah on/off.

    Aux in?

You'll need to connect the USB and run the audio through that as your soundcard. Then you'll get both the music and the sound of you playing guitar.

    Clipping DI in

I have a 7-string Ibanez with Barenkuckle Aftermath and a Helix floor. I'm not having any higher than "green" on my input block. I'm using the standard guitar input jack and do not have the pad on (the input pad is off). I'm curious if you go into globals and check the re-amp source for both USB 7 and 8 and set them both to "Guitar" do they both have the exact same behavior? I don't have an LT so not sure if LT even has this setting as adjustable.
  6. HX Stomp preset is also live. I updated the post above but the video is not done yet. I'm getting behind! I'm going to try to get it done and posted this weekend. Hang in there everyone. Stay safe. And thanks for all the support!
  7. Some things to try, one at a time, or all together: Turn off the amp/cab in POD and just use the sound of your head Turn off the cab, but keep the amp on Swap the amp block out for a preamp block Make sure your out is set to instrument level and not line Go to a “blank” preset, turn off all the blocks, and tweak levels until it sounds identical to plugging straight into your amp without POD
  8. For some tones, some guitars, some riffs, and some players, it works fine to drop to Eb or even down to D (or more?). For others, not so much. Hard to predict which group you’ll fall in without trying it out. One thing to do is assume it may not work for you and be pleasantly surprised if it does.
  9. POD Go preset now live. I updated the post and playlist above with details.
  10. @miami_vice try moving the volume pedal later in the chain. Especially after drives or after the amp. Put it on logarithmic sweep instead of linear.
  11. Excellent explanation from rd2rk. I'll add that for some IRs there will be zero difference between 2048 and 1024. As noted, the number refers to the number of samples of convolution that will be applied. If the IR is 1024 or fewer samples in length, then applying it at 2048 will result in zero difference of sound. I always use 1024 in order to allow maximum DSP flexibility of other blocks. Also, you can't do two 2048 IR without splitting to path 1 and path 2 because that's how the unit is written to work. Let your ears guide you and use whichever length you actually hear a better sound from and find the most utility with.
  12. I'm sure we will get updates on POD Go with new models and such. I doubt they'll be released on the same day as Helix but they'll be there. For example, POD Go had Revv Purple and Small Stone before Helix. Next time, maybe Helix will get them first. Either way, I'm sure both products will generally get them (subject to DSP, as you've noted).
  13. @Poopghost64 a good thing with 4CM is first set up all your connections and go to a blank preset. Turn off everything on the preset so POD Go is not doing anything to the sound. Then play with all your input/output levels until until it sounds identical (absolutely no difference in any way) to the sound of plugging your guitar directly into the amp as though POD were not there. It takes a bit of time unplugging and re-plugging everything but do lots of A/B comparisons with/without POD Go in the chain until it is exactly right.
  14. Hi there! I made that DSP chart (that's my website). The chart is very accurate. The understandings discussed here are also generally correct. In practice, it's very subjective, but my advice is just use the dang thing without thinking about DSP at all. Even though I'm the one that literally made that chart, I never open it unless I hit a wall and run out of DSP (which happens rarely). In those cases I will open the chart and scope out what I can start to change. Maybe a "cheaper" delay or reverb will work for me without a noticeable change in sound. The next piece of advice I'll give to anyone considering a purchase is not to focus on a specific real world amp model. Knowledge of amps is great and very helpful when tweaking. @voxman55, you've mentioned that the Brit Plexi is pretty much your dream amp but don't focus on that one amp model. In the world of amp modeling you may find that you get a much more pleasing "plexi" sound out of some completely different amp model. It may be surprising but it isn't bad or wrong. Don't spend time agonizing over how to get that one amp model just right. Try other amp models, too. That same advice works for other fx blocks as well. Spring reverb is awesome but do give the plate (and others) a try. One correction is to make sure you are filtering and using the allocations chart to the fullest potential. There's a column "Type" which shows things like hx, L-s, or L-m where hx is a new effect from the HX line of modeling and L-s/L-m are "legacy" effects from the HD era (-s for stereo and -m for mono). That said, you wanted an EP-3 delay and there are two different EP-3 models. You did your calculations with the more expensive of the two. Same for the tube screamer which has two different models and you used the most expensive one. There's a search box above the chart which is interactive. Type in "screamer" and you'll see the two tube screamers side-by-side so you can more easily compare DSP usage.
  15. A mini Helix would rock. But am I the only one who would rather have a MEGA Helix? Like, twice the size. Twice the DSP. Twice the switches. Twice the expression pedals. You get the idea. I want them to make a Helix in every size from tiny to huge. Then I want to buy the biggest one :D
  16. Helix: https://shop.line6.com/marketplace/steve-vai.html POD Go: https://shop.line6.com/marketplace/steve-vai-pod-go.html HX Stomp: https://shop.line6.com/marketplace/steve-vai-hx-stomp.html I got my Steve Vai live tone done for Helix. It is live in Marketplace right now! I used the new Carvin Legacy Drive model (Legendary Drive in Helix) for this. It took me some time to crack the code to get it sounding just the way I wanted it. It has a very rich sound. The Wet/Dry/Wet signal routing is always something I have fun playing with but don't use a lot myself (since I mostly play mono venues). I've always been at least marginally happy with my dirty lead and rhythm tones but it's the cleans that have always disappointed me. I stoked to the max to have been able to nail these clean tones. Seriously, Helix "floors" me (har har) with the quality and flexibility of tones I am able to get. I had a blast making this and hope you'll all dig it. I am also working on versions of this for HX Stomp and POD Go. I'll update here when they are ready! Update 1: POD Go preset is now also here! The biggest challenge of making this tone was the fact POD Go does not have the Carvin Legacy Drive model. Being lucky enough to have Helix and POD Go side-by-side gave me the chance to audition and tweak until I could get an amp model that sounded convincing. Check the playlist of videos below and let me know what you think of my effort. POD Go is no joke. I did not feel the need to make any trade-offs bringing this awesome Vai tone. Update 2: The HX Stomp preset is live, too. Super happy about this little unit. The Stomp gives a little more wet/dry flexibility with its two paths and the Carvin Legacy Drive model. It also retains the ability to use two different cab or IR on each path which widens the stereo spread a bit. Either way, I think all three of these units are top notch and sound fantastic! 17. Line 6 also has their Marketplace at https://shop.line6.com/marketplace/ but also search on YouTube and you'll find lots.
  18. You don't need Native or any other interface to use Helix or to record. Helix is an interface. It's fine to use it with an interface if you prefer but you won't be able to do things like record the dry input signal for re-amping.
  19. Hey Glenn, thanks for the shout out! <hat tip>

    Stop the hair!

Hopefully you can see the attached image. The blue line is the "not hairy" mix while the red is the "hairy" mix. Do you happen to notice the "not hairy" mix has a huge peak at about 80-90hz then a steep roll off and basically nothing above 1k? That's why it sounds like there's a blanket over it. The "hairy" mix is similar, from 1k on down, but from 1k-5k it has a gigantic boost. Neither mix are a balanced frequency response by any means, but you may get "hairy" mix closer to the "not hairy" mix just by putting a lowpass filter at about 750hz.
  21. I haven't heard of crystal delay and a google search does not readily show any pedals named that. Can you explain more?
  22. I understand the "don't know what songs until just before service" aspect of things! What I have done in this situation is have a setlist where all my song specific patches are in alphabetical order, but starting on bank 5. Then when I got the list, I could quickly scroll through to song 1, and copy to 1A, then scroll to song 2 and copy to 1B, etc. Then I'd have the 4-6 songs in order from 1A to 2B or whatever. Once you get this "trick" down, you can do a whole service's setlist in just 2-3 minutes of time.
  23. There's no way to go from bank 1 to bank 12 other than clicking bank up eleven times. It's probably worth rearranging your set list to get your sounds closer together if that's possible for your use case. The editor on computer can help to re-order things quickly but you can also do it on the preset screen with one of the small knobs under the screen.
  24. Yes, use Simple Pitch and set it to 100% mix. Do not assign any parameters to the snapshot controller.
  25. You would want the simple pitch block very first in the chain and set to 100% mix. Beware, results may vary.
