My pretty new Spider V 60 MK II makes a cracking noise when starting and shutting down.

When I switch the am on, boot up procedure starts. I see the Line6 Logo etc. The moment all the lights at the knobs turn on the amp makes a short cracking noise.

Similar when I switch off the amp. 

Is this normal behavior or should I return the amp.

You have to install the und driver first. You will find this on Line6 download section

In Spider Remote in the "Amp" section press on "<Type". This will bring you to amp selection Clean, American, British and High Gain. Klick on  these amp groups and you will find all the amps you have on the Spider V. In Spider Remote they are just grouped in sections. If you have the "wrong" section, you will not find the amp you want

Select the tone you want to save    

At the bottom of the app select "Edit"

In the next screen select detail  

Now at top of the app a symbol of a floppy (Hope you are old enough to know what this is)

Click this symbol and select a location to store   .

Not the most intuitive piece of software 

I can not speak for Spider V 20. I have Spider V 120 and I can connect my Iphone/Ipad with a plain lightning/usb cable. No adaptor needed. Would expect the V 20 to behave similar
