  1. In this case, a TS is primarily used as a pre EQ, cutting lows from the guitar signal, not really adding much drive. The popular thing to do is turn the drive all the way down and the output all the way up. I tend to set my output knob to taste, depending on different situations. But you're right to turn down the gain when double tracking. Fresh strings and get those chops up. Record many takes and pick the best ones, or chop 'em and screw 'em if you're into that. I like to stick to generally the same tone and split 100% L and R or maybe a little in between. I don't think picking the right cab or mic for the job is going to find you your dream tone. Think about shaping your tone around the bass tone to fit into frequency ranges that the bass' is cut at. Experiment a lot but always have a second or third opinion, have some bandmates with you, or like-minded friends.
  2. To elaborate more on the lack of a power button, I've noticed when I plug my adapter into the power input sonetimes I see some sparkage inside before it plugs in all the way. I suppose this could be remedied by plugging the adapter into pod BEFORE plugging the adapter into an outlet, but it's easier the other way..
  3. I have every intention of using a full FRFR setup with my pod, but im just curious and like to try different things just for fun like running through power sections of amps and using pre's and a few of my own cabs just for kicks. Another big reason for going digital is that I have nerve damage in my wrists and hauling around my half stack and suitcase full of pedals is a pain
  4. I used to imagine how cool it would be to play through your whole set and only have to touch one button the entire time to change presets. but that was assuming that each preset would be similar to other presets before it was just some minor changes. and you'd have to have presets in your set list that look quite redundant because if you were to go from dirty to clean to dirty again and then back to clean you would have setlists that look like: Clean Dirty Clean Dirty Clean delay Dirty Clean Etc.. And just push one button. I'd call it the Next button. but that's more of a pipe dream then it is a disadvantage. but I'd say a disadvantage is its power supply and the fact that there's no on or off switch.
  5. give it a shot and see what happens.
  6. all I've been doing with my pod is running direct either into a PA or just threw some computer speakers in the headphone jack input. I haven't even tried running it through my actual app or my cabinets, or with any of my petals in the pods loop. I've barely scratched the surface of what this baby can do
  7. thanks for all this replies guys. I have been selecting the presets and sending them to the unit itself, but things still get glitchy until I switch banks. I'll try the physical save button next time and see what happens. Edstar, I am on the same page as you about this. It doesn't cause a significant problem I just know I can't mess with her foot switches until I switch banks. I'm okay dealing with a work around, but was just wondering if this was happening to anybody else or just me.
  8. I thought about that after I made the thread. Lol
  9. (Sorry if the thread title isn't kosher) So I'm pretty new at this, about a month ago I got my first POD (hd500x). I wasnt sure how things we're going to go, I really wanted to get an axe fx but could not justify the price point. I had done a lot of reading, watched a lot of videos and heard a lot of stories and mixed reviews, but what seemed to be the most abundant were problematic situations and frustrated customers. this had me a little worried, but I knew that if I were to be patient I could probably get by quite well with this device. I've got to say, I've been having a great experience and I've run into no real problems besides a couple glitches here and there, and I'm getting a taste of the little shortcomings that are commonly talked about like the lack of Hz labeling in EQs, fizziness, awkward factory settings, dsp limits, I was even a little miffed after I found out the banking and presets didn't work quite like I had imagined or hoped they did. Maybe it's just me, but instead of worrying about things, I adapted and learned very quickly and after an hour of tweaking i had pretty good hi gain, crunch and clean presets. soon I was making ambient synths and making set lists for my bands songs. I used my Pod with my bass players old Behringer powered mixer and horrible Squire PA speakers at our band practice and was blown away about how things sound. Sure it wasn't perfect, but I had been 2 weeks into tweaking and had a great first sound. then it was time to refine that sound, and to make a long story short its been a small challenge and a whole lot of fun and things just seem to get better and better. .. and I see all these "not happy with my pod threads" and I just sit there and I shake my head. /rant -Satisfied Customer
  10. I noticed kind of the same thing while recording into my DAW. All I did to solve the problem was turn the master volume level down on the DAWs mixer.
  11. Hey everyone. I've encountered some sort of bug when assigning effects to footswitches using the editor software for my Hd500x. I notice that when I change assignments on foot switches, they don't immediately work and nothing really happens until I change to a different preset, and the presets in my bank get confused and play wrong presets. the LCD display on the pod itself (while editing footswitch assignment in the editor) says something like "assign etc etc" where the preset name would usually be. Then while the presets are "confused" the title displays the wrong preset name. usually at this point I would hit one of the bank buttons and change to a different bank and then back again, and most the time it would come back to normal. Sometimes it doesn't and I end up unplugging the pod and starting over. it's a relatively new device, I've had it for a little over a month and everything's up to date with no new packs added. Has anybody run into a problem like this or have any kind of solution? thank you in advance! Your pal, Al
