  1. Thank you both for confirming this. Hopefully they update that. So then it is a 5.5 x 2.5mm? I am looking to just extend the OEM adapter a bit, since the cord is so short. http://www.amazon.com/kenable-2-5mm-Power-Socket-Extension/dp/B004US2X8U Thanks all.
  2. This information does not seem accurate. According to the FAQ, the plug is 5mm with a 2mm center pin. DC-3g: (POD HD 300/400/500 and HD Bean): 9V DC, 3A (3000mA) Plug length: 15mm, Diameter: 5mm, Center Pin: 2mm. I cannot seem to find that size adapter anywhere in an aftermarket option, as I am looking for a way to get a cord 10' long or better. It seems using the OEM adapter is best due to the 3Amp rating, so I don't know how a 1 spot could handle this safely, since if the device draws more amps than the rating, it could be a fire hazard.
  3. Thank you very much! You appear to be the Tone-Legend here. :D
  4. Yes, but from what I see, all of his uploads and his profile on there have been removed.
  5. I just found out about Nico's absolutely astonishing patches such as this one https://soundcloud.com/hurghanico/am-i-an-helix, but I can't find his patches anywhere. Can someone help me acquire them if you already have them downloaded? I am actually most interested in the sample posted above. Thank you!
  6. Maybe that is what I heard. I'll give it another try.
  7. I was suspicious of that being the case, but I am not sure what to do with the mics to change that. Oddly, when the cab is off, the sound is affected if you alter the mics, but there is no option for no mic! It doesn't make sense to me, as it should shut it off completely. Since the IR is the wav form representation including whatever mic was used, wouldn't that be all I need? Not sure what to do at this point.
  8. Hey all, I gave some Ownhammer (the free 412 Marshall) Impulse Responses a test, and I am thinking that the HD500X isn't really a good option to pair them, so please correct me if I am wrong. For reference, I tested this using Presonus Eris E5 studio monitors, as well as a Roland KC-550 FRFR amp. When you disable the cab on the HD500X, it sounds like more than the cab turned off. A preset that previously sounded amazingly full and balanced in bass, mids, and treble, instantly become a quacky low-fi sound with the cab off. Applying the IR via LeCab in Logic Pro X did not resolve that, but simply gave the physic dynamics as expected. I can definitely give a nod to the cool capabilities of IR's, in which case I really wish I could use them since they add such depth and spacial dynamics, but the only way it sounds partially decent was if I STILL used the HD500X cab in the preset and then applied the IR. This unfortunately resulted in an overbaked sound that was muddy and pointless in my opinion. It wouldn't make much sense to tweak the presets to work with that set up, yet be entirely unusable with the IR. My hope was to have the presets work great as is, and then simply turn off the cab model as needed. Perhaps my time is better spent tweaking the inherent capabilities of the HD500X directly. Thoughts?
  9. That is a real disappointment. I posted the idea if you guys want to upvote. http://line6.ideascale.com/a/dtd/Use-HD500X-HD500-and-Helix-as-controller-for-Firehawk-1500/821366-23508
  10. Does this also mean the hd500x expression pedal (wan/volume) and switch assignments / loop work as a controller for the firehawk 1500? Has anyone verified this, because line 6 phone support just informed me I couldn't use the HD500X as a controller and would need their new controller?
  11. Thank you! Great thorough response. I will give this a try.
  12. Good day, Can someone please help me understand how to properly use the Tube Compression? I am playing my HD500x into a Roland KC550 (A full range Keyboard Amplifier). The sound is great, but I am looking to get the articulation of my tube amps, where I can play soft with a smooth cleaner tone, and then get a blooming distortion under attack for nice harmonics, etc. Right now, the only way to simulate it is if I roll off the guitar pots volume to thin it out, and turn it up when playing heavier, but that is not practical for real dynamic playing. I think I may be getting closer now that I am looking at the Threshold and Level in reverse....but any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  13. What do I do? I just bought an HD500x, and the HD pack bundle, but run OSX El Capitan, and don't have a Windows PC! I can't believe Line6 has responded to this thread!!! Even though I have many guitars and gear, this is the first Line6 product I have had, I am not very happy with this first impression. Line6, where are you?! Do you provide support, or just happily take money and run?!
  14. Did you find out anything about this not running on OSX El Capitan? I didn't realize it would not show as a device to be authorized in the License Manager (I have 1.09). I just purchased the HD Model Pack and cannot use it since the device is not found. Please help.
  15. Thanks all. Fantastic and very helpful responses. As a first impression, you all seem to make up a very helpful community here. While I don't have much experience with it, I have been using Guitar Rig 5 more and more, with my Presonus Eris E5 monitors. I imagine that they would work great for the HD500x, but if I am going in, maybe I'll grab the L2T/L2M. I love the idea of stereo. Hopefully Line6 puts some better OEM samples on the unit. If I test a combo modeling amp in a store, I expect the preset dial to have some typical basic samples that will give me clean, classic, metal, etc to quickly sample some capability. I just thought the first 10 banks would have been something like that. Had that been the case, I may have walked out with one, but as some of you have said, I too have been listening to video after video trying to discern what is room acoustics, etc. Thank you again for all the helpful replies. I did come across the Axe-FX II, but that is a different world altogether. Granted, it goes for the "feel" (blooming delay maybe) of tube, but at that price, I think I'll leave it to the pros.
