Check if you dont have some impedance jump between the two presets. This is from the official notes from L6;
"...note that there may be a slight hiccup when switching between two presets with different impedance values for the Guitar Input."
Nice catch! I would think this might be particularly relevant if you have the 3.0 firmware's new impedance parameter in global settings Preferences --> 'Auto Impedance' = "First Enabled". This could easily cause the impedance to switch in between presets without you explicitly setting it to do so.
Even having that parameter set to the old behavior of "First Block" could still result in that "hiccup" if the two presets you are switching between have different effects with different impedance values in the first block in your signal chain, active or not.

If I was Datacommando that would definitely be my new favorite preset :-)

Hey All. I have a HX Effects which I updated to 3.01. When I engage the Looper (any one of them, whether or not there are other effects engaged) my unit freezes. I can't engage (or disengage) the effects in my presets, but sound comes through. I don't need to save any of the presets in the unit, so I would absolutely wipe the unit if I needed to. Oh one more thing, I did of course back up the unit before the update, and when I tried to revert to the back up, it didn't seem to work. I absolutely could (definitely) have done something wrong, so I open to any suggestion, and If you suggest something I already did, and forgot to mention it, it'll just help me eliminate some possibilties. Thanks!
First off make sure you installed HX Edit 3.0. When you say "revert to backup" did you do a 'Restore from Backup" from the HX Edit menu? If so can you provide some more details on how it failed, e.g. error message or hang? First thing I might try is taking another backup, not critical as you say you are willing to sacrifice your current presets but nice to have if you can get one to work. Try a global reset and then restore from backup. If that does not work I might try re-updating the firmware.

Thanks, I will probably upgrade again to try that. Or even better, does it work for you? Are you on 3.01?
I am on 3.01 but have not gotten around to testing this. Will post back if I do.

Back to the exp-pedal on the Helix Floor (3.0): I have the same issue with the toe-switch (doesn't engage). I get the Wah to function when i put it on exp-pedal2, but no way to run it in Exp1. I read attentively this thread, but all what i could deduce from it is that i have to use (brute) force: So i put the pedal on the floor, but nope, still the toe-switch isn't engaging; ...and i do not want to jump on the thing...
Perhaps the solution is in the presets of the pedal, but it seems that i am too stupid to find the trick.
With the pedal down, i see on the display "Exp1 Exp2" (whereby the letters "Exp2" seems to light brighter than "Exp1").
When i use the pedal, the letters "Exp1" disappear and are replaced by %(-indications), so "x%Exp2".
Theoretically, one would expect that after switching to Exp1, the display shows "x% Exp1", but not one time the display showed that.
There was a moment (while i was trying to work at the presets) that the wah went in bypass when the exp-pedal (on Exp2) was fully down, but as soon as i moved the pedal, it restarted to function on Exp2, but alas no toe-switch to Exp1.
Does somebody know what i have to do?
This may not be your issue but I have seen some folks have problems with switching to wah because they improperly select assignments that are contrary to the Helix defaults. Just want to make sure you are not having an assignment issue. By default the Helix assigns a volume block to EXP 2 and the wah block to EXP 1.
If you have not already try this simple experiment. Select a new/blank preset, add a volume block(don't assign anything), now add a wah block(don't assign anything). Now stand up and apply a fair amount of pressure to the expression pedal's switch in the toe-down position; press hard. You should see the highlight on the scribble strip above your expression pedal move from 'EXP 2' to 'EXP 1'. If you watch the blocks they should be switching from activating the volume to activating the wah. If it does not you may have a problem with your latest firmware update or hardware.
Btw, on a preset with absolutely nothing in it you should be able to switch the highlight between 'EXP 1' and 'EXP 2' by pressing hard on the expression pedal's toeswitch.

Hey there,
I own a Line 6 HX Effects, for which I installed the update 3.0 yesterday. Lots of super cool features and it's definitely a game changer.
However... A feature that I really loved seemed to be now disabled, and I don't know how to get it back. I use the bleat chop tremolo a lot, and before the update, every time I would press the tap tempo button, it'd restart the sequence of the LFO. Super handy feature when you want your tremolo to start on time, on a particular sequence.
Anybody has the same problem, or know how to get it back? Basically I just want to use the tap button so the tremolo starts on time, and not randomly in a complex sequence.
In advance, thanks and have a great day!I suppose it could be that something about the operation of that effect has changed with the firmware revision. Barring that the first thing I would look at is 'Tempo Select' and 'Global BPM' parameters under the global settings 'MIDI/Tempo' category. Maybe your globals have changed since the update.

As for the useless and completely subjective semantics discussion, I wonder why articles like https://www.sweetwater.com/insync/easy-alternate-tunings-for-guitar/ never mention things like “Van Helen Tuning - down 1/2 step” as surely it’s the easiest “alternate” tuning that ever existed.
You're kidding right? Your post is what kicked off the "useless and completely subjective semantics discussion" when you essentially double-posted what I had already said with what appeared to be a semantic correction. Not that I mind an occasional digression into semantics as long as someone doesn't become the self-anointed grammar/semantics police. Not that you did. Hey its COVID quarantine. Many previously unwanted digressions have become welcome amusements. Cheers :-)

First thing I would try is unplugging any unnecessary peripherals and rebooting my PC and trying another USB cable and/or USB port. You say you downloaded the flash file so that to me indicates that you have already tried using the Updater manually. Btw, make sure you don't have HX Edit and the Updater up at the same time. Have you also uninstalled and reinstalled HX Edit 3.0 with all checkboxes checked?
Next thing I would attempt is when the device stops updating, exit HX Edit and restart the update process or if that does not work unplug/replug the USB cable and restart. Note: this is contrary to the clearly printed instructions printed in red on the install screen and has the potential to either leave the PC unable to "see" your device or leave your device with a scary error message and unable to start properly. It will not however be "bricked". You can almost be guaranteed that short of an actual and unlikely hardware problem this will not be the case. If all else fails open a ticket with Line6 and they can walk you through the update(or you can just start the process by contacting them and potentially avoid dire looking error messages).

After installing the 3.01 update on my Helix HX, something is off..
The pedal tends to freeze after a few minutes.
Strange also that I do not have all of the new effects. I have the poly delay but that's about it.In the editor I can see the new effects, but the letters are grey and I cannot select them...
Can anybody tell me what is going on?Thanks
AJM
I would do a backup, global reset, restore my presets and global settings and if necessary reinstall HX Edit 3.0 if necessary.
Your poly blocks are greyed out because they are very DSP intensive and you don't have enough DSP left on that path to use them. Try starting from an empty preset to get a feel for what can be added when you have a Poly block in your signal chain. There is also a spreadsheet on the forum somewhere that lists DSP usage. I'm sure someone can post up the link for it.

I tried downloading the 3.01 update for Native and when I tried to launch it I get a nsis.sf.net/nss_error. I tried everything suggested, redownloading, downloading from a different computer, launching from an external USB drive, running from a command prompt, same result. I even turned off the firewall and disabled antivirus protection. I'm running Windows 10. Anyone have any ideas ?
Have you tried using the "Line 6 Native Uninstaller". Available from Windows settings "Add or Remove Programs", and then reinstalling?
Check out this link for how to solve NSIS errors. One thing to check is if you have any Windows updates pending?

I believe the correct terms are alternate tuning and detuning. Alternate tuning being where you change the relative tuning of the strings so the intervals between the strings are different than EADGBE. Detuning is taking the whole EADGBE tuning and lowering or raising the whole thing, keeping the intervals between the strings the same. I think that's it. I could be wrong.
LOL, and the confusion multiplies. To me "detuning" always means lowering the tuning or maybe even just taking the instrument out of tune. I have never used that term to indicate a raised tuning.

Sounds like you need to download and install HX Edit 3.0. The output block remains visible(circle with an arrow). At least on the Helix.

Seems to me that anything that isn't EADGBE standard tuning is an "alternate tuning"... it's an umbrella term, encompassing every other tuning out there, from the commonplace to the weird. What else would we call it?
Now if we really want to get into a semantic argument, what the new poly features can't do is produce open or drop tunings, where different strings are shifted by different intervals, and/or one or more strings are shifted and the rest are left alone entirely. That's where the Variax has the edge... though in my experience, they're far from perfect.
I own the same umbrella . Have to admit that is how I always viewed the term "alternate tuning" and how most musicians I know have used the term. When Malhavok made that post though I went and looked that term up and the descriptions I saw did not include raised and lowered tunings from standard. So maybe he is technically speaking correct even if common usage includes those tunings under the catchall "alternate tunings". Any Berklee graduates or music majors want to weigh in on this? Now I am curious.
One thing I think is unanimous in the posts responding to this question is that a much wider range of tunings is available using the Variax. The Variax also includes an additional layer of integration with the Helix such as auto-select of the Variax's pickup models as well as the ability to use the guitar's tone and volume controls to manipulate parameters on the Helix. So at others have said, "no" the new Poly capabilities will probably not make the Variax redundant for most players. Just in case though if I were Line6 I would put a hex pickup in the next generation of Variax guitars just to help guarantee its longevity :-)

The Poly Capo can't do alternate tunings (neither can any other poly shift affect). It can only standard-tuning up/down by half steps (or micro tones on things other than Poly Capo). You still need a variax for Drop-D, DADGAD, etc.
Yup, you are right. Dropping or raising all the strings the exact same interval from standard tuning is I guess not technically considered an "alternate tuning". I think we were both pointing out the same thing though. Thanks for the clarification.

I wish the Helix had blocks of classic rack gear for studios. I don’t see any reason we couldn’t leverage the DSP ala UA with the Helix. There is already a mic pre, make a neve, already an 1176 wouldn’t a Distressor be awesome? I am surprised this hasn’t happened years ago.
I'm in favor of this. We already are starting to see it on the Neural DSP where you will be able to use their plugins on the Quad Cortex. Plenty of users employ their HX device strictly in their studios. In addition many posts on the forum exhort users to understand that they should not expect an "amp in the room" sound but instead a mic'd amp more like you would hear in a studio. Seems fair to turn around and say why not have at least certain models of rack type effects. LA Studio Comp, 3-Band Comp, Dimension D Chorus, and Trinity Chorus to name a few are already in there btw. Pretty much in that ballpark.

I use my Variax almost exclusively for alternative tunings. I play metal mostly, I have no real use for the different guitar models. The alternative tuning function on the Variax is good, I wouldn't say brilliant, but it is a little better than using my old EHX Pitch Fork stomp with my standard guitars. The Pitch Fork was good sonically, but the slight latency between picking and hearing the sound made it limited.
Now that Helix 3.0 is out with Poly Capo, does this make the alternative tunings on Variax redundant? Has anyone tried both and how do they compare? Artefacts? Latency?
Would love to see a side by side comparison.
Interesting question. I suppose at some point I will get around to testing the differences between using the Variax and a standard guitar with the Poly Capo for alternate tunings.
The Poly Capo or Poly Pitch move every string the same interval. You can't do more exotic tunings or something like a Drop D where only one one string is dropped. If you don't use your Variax for anything other than alternate tunings and poly covers all the ones you use, then I suppose you could use the poly blocks instead. So many other things you can use the Variax for though.

SAME PROBLEM !!!
- Amplifi 75.
- Using ANDROID cell phone (Note9) and tablet (Tab 3) both Sumsung with the latest version update.
- Opened a ticket , sent a mail and contacted via messenger - however they directed me o the forum here ( I guess they dont have the solution for us the costumers).
- I did the FACTORY RESET and I updated the amp\app to V 2.6.
THE PROBLEMS REMAINED THE SAME !!!!
Bluetooth crash and disconnect all the time (amplifi remote app) .
Cant search tones ( Connection error even when everything connected and indicating that as well).
Cant identify the tone from a song.
Very frustrated :(
Same for me. The Bluetooth connectivity for my Amplifi 75 is spotty and drops constantly rendering the amp pretty much unusable. The consistent drops in connectivity make it intolerable. Avoid! Abandonware!

Hi!
I bought a used AMPLIFi TT a pretty long while ago, it was sold as "defect" as the 9V power cable was missing. A missing power cord shouldn't be classed as "defect" I thought, and the pictures showed a unit that looked barely used whatsoever. A little sooner while ago, a move across the country and a first child arrival later, I finally went ahead and bought a new cable, and the unit powered up but behaved really strange. I could get sound from it through the headphone jack, but basically nothing more than that. I couldn't get any sound from the outputs on the back, I couldn't change preset and the LEDs for bluetooth connection and tap tempo wouldn't light up when I pressed the buttons.
So, I connected the unit to the Line 6 Updater through USB, and thought I should try a software update. Then I saw that the updater software recognises my AMPLIFi TT unit as an FX100! Also, my Mac recognises it as an FX100 when I check in the system information.
I've figured that the flash memory, somehow, probably contains the FX100 software. I've also figured that this probably shouldn't be possible. But anyhow, in my AMPLIFi TT there is FX100 software installed. Now I've tried everything I can think of, and I've been googling a lot.
So, a long shot maybe, I wonder: does anyone here by any chance have a disk image of an AMPLIFi TT flash memory? OR, another solution, fix, tips or whatever that could take me in the right direction, hence getting my AMPLIFi TT to be a TT and NOT an FX100 anymore! I would really like to use this little thing for my portable studio, since it's a perfect size.
Best regards,
Jonas
Which version of the Updater did you try last?
In addition to showing the wrong device, the version of the firmware your screenshot is displaying is from 10/27/2014. That would be a really old version of the firmware. Perhaps one of the old versions of the Updater and Driver, roughly correlated to the date of the firmware version you are showing might recognize the device properly. I would start by trying the latest version of the Updater and driver(uninstall current driver first after noting version if possible). If that doesn't work I would go to the download page for the Amplifi TT(NOT the FX100) and start downloading and installing the older paired versions of the Updater and driver and experimenting to see if any of them can see your device as an Amplifi TT. Make sure to uninstall/reinstall the driver in between each different version attempt.

Yep, pretty much abandonware as far as I can tell at this point. Much like the Stagesource M20d mixer(with the exception of one relatively recent bug/compatibility fix for the Logitech G Hub). Shame about both of these products. They both had some nifty innovations.

The Undo/Redo function(curved arrows) at the top of HX Edit works well if you are just for example comparing a change in one or two parameters.

These posts all seem to be legitimate failures of the LED ring but just thought it worth mentioning that there is a global setting, Displays --> 'Tap Tempo LED' that can turn the LED ring off on the Tuner/Tap switch. Worth checking this first for anyone who comes to this topic with a non-functioning LED ring on this switch.

Hope this helps/makes sense.
Like datacommando I am mystified. Might be time to open a ticket with Line6. Btw, if you only get the problem with HX Edit not opening with the HX Stomp plugged in, try alternate USB ports and a different USB cable. There are other posts in the topic that datacommando referenced that give additional details on getting to the fix but start with this one.

Btw, this applies to global settings and even things like amp and effect blocks. If the bar towards the bottom of the screen is only lit partially that means there are more parameters you can page over to.
