  1. Another thought to consider is to get an HX Stomp which has an very high quality Audio Interface, plus contains all the same firmware amps, cabs, fx, as available via Helix Native, all in one small box. And, via HX Edit you can access and control the HX Stomp directly via USB from your computer screen with the luxury of the full HX Edit visual display. Alternatively, use the HX Stomp solely as an Audio Interface, and it's headphone jack (if you wish for Zero Latency monitoring of your guitar). Plus, purchasing an HX Stomp which is currently on sale from Line 6 and many resellers, you are also entitled to a significantly discounted price on Helix Native, so it may be an ideal way to go. As @silverheadjust posted, do your research! Happy Holidays.

  2. @Drybonz yup! It could work for lots of Block types. I'm sure Line 6 would think this through thoroughly before they set out to actually code it for a new feature enhancement. If you've got specific ideas and thoughts, the best place to present them to Line 6 is in the Idea Scale thread. That's where Line 6 pays attention to the votes and input! If you have other Helix Users also spread the word to them to vote it up and submit their thoughts.

  3. This morning's Line 6 Ideas email had a great suggestion!

The idea is to keep cab block parameters while changing cab blocks.

I voted it up and added to it.

Check it out, upvote if you like, so Line 6 might consider it for a future update

Keep Cab Block Parameters to switching btwn/amongst cab blocks

  4. @Mxzx Also available for you to use to your best advantage is the Customized User Default for the Amp Block of your preference. Although not the same as a Global configuration which would automatically adjust your existings Presets, the ability to change the Factory Default settings of the Amp block you prefer and Save it as your Customized User Default is a very handy feature! The Customized User Default feature does not allow you to rename the name of the Factory Default Amp Block. It is very similar to its "sister" feature of creating a User Favorite which requires you to enter a name to save any Block (Amp or FX) with the customized parameters you desire, so you have it available under Favorites when you select a Block Type.

    Hope this helps.

  5. @hcmiv if your budget can handle the additional expense of the Helix Floor, go that way! You are not likely to regret the dedicated AuxIn for use with your guitar's piezo pickup. Plus, you will have greater flexibility how to use and route the two individual guitar signal feeds. And, you still have the Floor's four Send/Returns available for whatever you may wish to explore!

  6. @MarcelineauYour inquiry about locking the rotary knobs, or perhaps more appropriately: rendering the knobs inert, could be a very interesting and desirable feature for those whom may benefit from it.

Strongly consider searching the ideascale site and if not found previously, submit the feature suggestion.

    All the best.

Okay, so here's an update. Got some 50 ohm Sennheisers on sale, and whaddya know, no more volume problem with the Stomp. With the 80 ohm Beyers, I had the volume knob all the way up and it was still too quiet. Using the Senns, I only have the knob at 50% and it's the perfect volume with most of my presets.

I'm really glad I got these instead of the 250 ohm Beyers I was also considering. I'm guessing they would've been even worse with the Stomp than the 80 ohm pair.

So at the end of this whole saga, in this layman's opinion, if you've got a Stomp you want headphones with less ohms, not more.

The Sensitivity Level parameter of any given headphone is far more indicative of what the SPL level will be at a given drive level. That's the spec you should be looking at, and compare between units. It is also possible that your Beyers are flawed.

  8. In addition to the suggestions of@rd2rk and @cruisinon2, if you get an HX Stomp or HX Stomp XL and connect it to your FRFR, you will have the benefit of the HX Audio Interface in the device itself! Plus, you can also connect it to your laptop and run HX Edit to more easily visualize and access the many features of the HX Stomp/Stomp XL. By doing so, you will have the benefit of using the HX device's physical features, buttons, footswitches, etc., and also have the ability to use your laptop for enhance visualization, or real time access and control. Best of all HX Edit is free of charge! So use whatever method may suit you best. Hope this helps.

  9. @rx7carlAs far as the consumer marketplace is concerned the family of Helix products is ever growing and there is no current indication of a replacement to the Helix Floor. At some point in the future, there will likely be a successor. At this time it remains the flagship! Sibling Twin of the Helix Rack & Controller.

If the Helix Floor suits your needs, grab one from your local retailer. Should it fail to exceed your expectations you can always return or exchange it as most offer that ability. Just be certain to update the hardware to the latest firmware version (currently 3.71, as I recollect) using the Helix Edit software and precisely following the download, installation and update procedures as the software guides you through the process. It's essentially painless.

If you're considering buying a used unit, check the condition and run the serial number by Line 6 to determine if it the one time Helix Native discount purchase has been used. Otherwise, based on the condition and price of a used unit, it could be a screaming deal or a nightmare. YMMV.

Hope you like the Helix Floor. I've had one for several years and it's a blast! Keeps improving with every Firmware update. Also have a HX Stomp and it's also fantastic.

Post back with what you ultimately do, to share the info with others.

  10. @VoodooFlossingThere is also no way of knowing how the unit may have been adjusted or the factory presets resaved with any variety of user or store employee settings. So unless you did a Factory Reset of the unit before using it, there are any number of variables that might have contributed to what you heard. Even with that being said, as @cruisinon2just posted, the best way is to create your own preset from scratch. Only that way can you experience adding and adjusting each block you choose to the signal chain. Plus, if all you place in the signal chain is an FX block without an Amp and Cab, the resulting audio can sound odd.

  11. @optofonikAlso know that should you opt to install any older version presets, always perform an Update Upgrade to Latest Format Power On Routine Following your installation of any of the older Presets to assure they brought into compliance with the currently installed newer firmware.

For instance, if you are using a HX Stomp, you would Power On while holding the Upper and Lower Knobs to Rebuild your Presets. If using the Helix Floor, you would Power On while holding the F10 & F11 to upgrades existing presets to the latest format.

  12. @cmscss also know that DSP allocation varies depending on the specific model selected of any Block Type. Often the allocation difference may be insignificant. At other times, for instance, when selecting different Amp types, some consume significantly different DSP amounts, and with FX, the Stereo versions are larger than the Mono versions.

For an excellent reference of DSP allocation see:

  13.  I can only reiterate what @Schmalle and @silverhead have posted. I have the DT770 Pro 250 Ω and Sennheiser HD6xx 300 Ω, either can get too loud for my preference with my HX Stomp, or Helix Floor.

@agreenawalt my only suggestion is to be sure your Signal Chain and final Output Block settings on your HX Stomp are properly set as not to attenuate your signal output. Also be sure that you have updated your HX Stomp firmware and HX Edit to the latest versions, to assure nothing is amiss with the firmware.

  14. Wipe exterior with a mild damp bit of soap to clean. Brush lightly if really bad. Otherwise, hand wash in a suitably sized sink or tub with a tiny bit of laundry or dish detergent (aka Dawn). Rinse well and allow to air dry. YMMV.

Can I use a Boss PSA 230S with my HX Stomp or is there another power supply that is "proofed" that can be used?
I need a second power adapter for the rehearsal room so that i only have to take the HX Stomp with me.

If you have an  Wall pluggable USB Power block, or a rechargeable USB Power brick, you can use a MyVolts Ripcord made for the HX Stomp. The Ripcord is a durable, inexpensive (about $25) USB to 9V 2.5mm right angle Center Positive adapter cable. It works flawlessly with the HX Stomp. Just be sure you use it with a at least a 5V 3Amp or higher USB capable source. I have two and have been using them for a few years without problem. They are available via Amazon (when not out of stock) or from the actual OEM, as well as others. Google for it.

  16. File > Import Setlist

    File > Export Setlist

If you're referring to using HX Edit with an HX Stomp, the HX Stomp only loads one entire Setlist. I believe the same is the case with the Stomp XL.

  17. The Mixer Block is automatically created when a Split Block is placed in the Signal Path. The Mixer Block provides a means of merging (or mixing) the Split Signal Path back into the Primary Signal Path if needed. AFAIK, there is no way to remove the Mixer Block while a Spilt Block remains.

  18. I find the existing block representations presented in the Signal Chain portions of the HX Edit and HX Native displays sufficient (primarily because this method is compact). Nonetheless, for the larger predominant editor portion HX Edit and Helix Native's displays (i.e. the lower right of the screen), I would vastly prefer a skeuomorphic actual representation of the selected component's adjustment parameters. Currently, I use the graphic display of the block types rather than the list display. This could be significantly improved if the selected item were displayed as 3x larger at the top of that graphic area occupying the full width of the area. Line6 has often asserted that allocating programming resources to accomplish a skeuomorphic display is viewed as an unnecessary allocation of programming resources otherwise better used to evolve, optimize and otherwise improve the Helix and HX Family firmware.

As the world has now reached 2024, perhaps the day graphics become more widely embraced will be sooner.
