  1. Hi, The main difference between Helix and LT are the connections on the the back. The LT don't have as much. The rest is only small details for home use. In my case i can plug a mic and an acoustic guitar into the helix (and something more) in the same time for live recording. If you have no use of all the extra connections, go for LT and buy the monitors. Ultimately the sound is what matters at home use and they sound exactly the same. The scribble scripts, I don't even watch much what is on it, i have few patches at one time, I could live without. If you plan to go live band at some point, it may be good to have the extra options... Or find a second hand helix :) Consider also the rack, if you don't change patches much.... no need the floor rack, maybe just an expression pedal... cheers O
  2. Hiya, I have a weird problem that happens since i updated logic... or my system... I am using the helix as output with headphone (got family sleeping) Everything is fine until i launch Logic, then the helix sound is turned off. Not the playback, just the live guitar, the output from logic works, and guitar is back on monitoring when i hit record. I tried the input monitor but it makes no difference, the live guitar output is gone, even if i turn of Logic. The only way to get it back is to reboot the helix. I didn't have that problem before, and i don't know if the problem came with a logic update or system upgrade (el captain), or something else. I didn't made changes in the helix at that time for sure. The problem is there did it with v2.1 i have updated to v2.3 same. And is more likely to be a logic related answer. I think, somehow, logic is sending an order to the helix to "shut up". Any ideas how to bring back the guitar live monitoring ? cheers Olivier
  3. Hiya, Can we hope having at some point Variax collaborations with some other guitar brands ? or some kind of custom shop line6 to adapt existing guitars with variax system. I would buy a real fender "variaxed" or a Chapman one for exemple... The actual range of variax choice isn't attracting to me yet. The variax sounds and concept though , I really like. cheers Olivier
  4. Just thinking through your setup. As good the idea sounds about getting your own monitoring direct from the helix, the problem i see straight away is that you will not ear your band mates anymore. That is a dangerous risk to play live hearing yourself a lot and not much the others. Unless there is a very loud volume on stage and you need earplug to reduce it and then taking the chance to add a touch more of your guitar.... just saying ;)
  5. To get back to your sound card question. As others have said, yes, the helix is basically a big soundcard, you don't need any monitors if you don't want. The helix will play in your computer as soon you select it as an input. Using a headphone you can select in your computer the helix as output too if you want, so there is no need of input monitoring DAW, you ear the guitar all the time, and you get the sound from the computer too... just using USB If you have monitors or simple speakers already, use them as output for your computer, the helix will pass through them in same time that your backing tracks. I have a sound card i used for acoustic and vocal recording, it became obsolete with the helix, I can plug a mic in same time than an acoustic guitar, and even an other guitar if i wanted.
  6. When you say "more clear", are you talking about a volume difference or some differences in the tone ? - The headphone volume, like the main output volume, have nothing to do with the usb output volume. You set that in the global parameters. There, basically you can add or remove some db, even having a different EQ on usb than headphone. Check if everything is set to zero on usb. Your preset may be to weak in volume. I have everything at zero in usb and don't have any problem. I usually have my headphone volume at 12oclock and the sound volume in recording not far off. Though if you use the monitoring input on the recording track it may sound louder because you ear the guitar twice in same time. - An other possibility is that your patch is using 2 channels output (like one amp in left, an other in right) so while recording, you would need 2 tracks. One listening to input 1, the other listening to input 2.... or 3... depending how the patch is set. Has your patch 1 simple straight line or few lines ? Check all of that, there is a good chance the problem is hiding there. Cheers
  7. Problem solved !!! It toke a while and the help of line 6 support. The problem is CCtoggle have both dim and lit value of the footswich set to 127 to send info. But when selecting a patch helix send the info of the status of the footswitch value, and by so, send a trigger to logic, in fact all the info : stop, play, record, go back and cancel last record. It turns out logic start playing but i did notice a red flash like he start record but cancel... The answer is instead of using CCtoggles, using MIDI CC, all works fine now. cheers
  8. Hi, mmm, I don't think so, those are on top on the toggles, but I'll double check when i go home tonight. This is what i did : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85hngtC7CoU Do you mean that cc trigger is not the right option to use ? or there is an option i overlooked ? cheers O
  9. Hi there, I am using the CC Toggles to control Logic pro x from my Helix. I have a few recording patches, when inside the control screen, there are some foot switches assigned to trigger record, stop, play.... on LogicPro. It is working fine. My problem is that when i select one of these patches, it triggers the play straight away. Just choosing a patch is sending the trigger. I tried to save the patch with all the foot switches set to the dim value, but it still trigger play when i select the patch. I got lucky it didn't trigger record instead.... so basically, how can i avoid that problem ? did i do something wrong or is it a bug everybody gets when doing that ? cheers Olivier
