I gave up and ordered a looper pedal which will be much better anyway.

I have the MK II Express pedal and a Spider V 60 amp.  I can't find any way to start and stop the recording of the Looper on the amp.  The MK II manual doesn't mention this and is mostly useless to me.  I can control it by pressing the button on the amp but this leaves a blank space in the loop as I reach for the button.  How can I set the foot pedal switch to start and stop the recording?   I have also looked at the Line 6 FBV control software interface with the foot pedal connected to my computer but there is nothing that says start/stop looper or anything close to that.

Power is always colored red for + and black for - (except in rare cases like the mag pickups) so looking at your picture, the tip and sleeve would be the yellow and white wires (four wire connector).  If you have an ohm meter you can find out which is the sleeve easily (not that it makes any difference in this case, but just to check).  However, I echo the concern about shorting the modeling amp since we don't know the effect on it. 

Lipid, it's possible that the speaker died since everything else works.  Usually if an amp output shorts it will shut down the power supply, which we know works.  Also possible that the headphone jack is defective like gtrman100 mentioned.  No mention was made about which model.  I recently got the 60 which is working ok.

Where there's certainly a standard set of parameters for factory setup, I'd consider them nominal settings to be optimized by the owner based on playing style and other personal preferences.  They might offer a starting point for adjustment but I think it's a mistake to consider them a goal state.  Maybe I haven't been paying attention but I'm not aware of other manufacturers publishing their factory setup parameters.  I'm aware of some that get passed around but I don't know that you could go to fender.com and get the setup specs for an American Standard Strat. 

You can't build anything without a spec (which includes a tolerance).  Imagine the Egyptians building a pyramid with no spec, which would be - just keep piling up the stones and we will see where it goes or power supplies that are 12V +/- whatever.  The factory will have a spec to adjust the neck. and many other specs for every piece of the guitar.  They may not publicize it but there is one and a luthier will also have some guide spec to adjust the neck bow.  My issue is I don't know what to shoot for but I think .024 is a bit high and reducing that to half would be good.  I will get an answer from the vendor.  Otherwise, I love the guitar.  thanks

Well, I have been trying to find the Spider V editor for my Windows 10 computer but couldn't, now I know why, there is none.  Luckily, my Android tablet works with the app.  I also noticed that the firmware updates descriptions don't include how to check what version is on your amp.  Press and hold the home button and the firmware version will be at the top on the LCD screen.   Use the Line 6 updater on your computer to update it over USB.  My amp was purchased in May 2017 and the firmware was 1.02

I jut got a Spider V60 amp and after downloading the Spider app from the google store for my ASUS Zen tablet (Android 5.0) and connecting the USB, it worked fine.  I have not seen any way to save settings using the app but I can same them using the control knob on the amp.   One thing, the tablet uses a USB C connector and I had to go to Monoprice and buy an adapter cable that is USB A female to USB C.  This allowed a printer cable (USB A to USB B) to be used with the tablet. 

Thanks for the replies and I understand that an expert can be very useful at times.  The guitar is brand new and it should be near perfect setup as it was tested and setup up before shipping.  However, I think the neck bow is a little much and I want to adjust that and this seems like it is not hard to do.  I'm a retired engineer and try to do things myself (except I only do minor things on my car).  The company I bought it from said they will check with one of their techs have them get back to me.   I think a small adjustment to the truss rod will correct it, though its odd that this spec is a well kept secret.  After all, they provide tech support and why pay to have a simple thing fixed?  Learning is part of the fun.

I'm talking about the bow or the height of the straight edge above the fret (sorry, I put in the wrong word).  Here is the video so we can be on the same page. 

I have a new JTV-89F and I think the string height is a bit high.   I used a straight edge and feeler gage on the seventh fret and it was .024".  I saw a video about adjusting the truss rod and this measure was .008" on a different solid body guitar.  That is a huge difference.  I searched the Line 6 knowledge base and this forum but found nothing.  Does anyone know what the spec is?  The company I bought this from supposedly did a check on all the settings, which seems in some doubt to me.

I just bought a new JVT-89F (red) from Sweetwater.  It's a beautiful guitar.  It says made in Korea on the box (serial # starts with W16) but the fit and finish is first rate.  I haven't used the Workbench HD yet (just installed on my win 10 computer).  I also got the Spider V 60 amp.   I found that my Android ASUS Zen tablet (Android 5.0) seems to work well when connected to the amp.   I had to order a cables from Monoprice (USB C male to USB A female) and then connect that from the tablet to another cable often used for printers (USB A to USB B).  I haven't figured out how to save a setup using the tablet app yet, they should make that obvious.
