  1. Choose version 1.1.0 It's the second option, not the top option. You will need to make some selections (red arrow) and then "Go". https://line6.com/software/index.html
  2. Line 6 does not participate on this forum. This is a user forum. I suspect it is doubtful any of our users will recognise that part. You should contact Line 6 with your question. https://line6.com/support/tickets/
  3. Did you try plugging your guitar straight into the amp to determine if the amp works?
  4. I'm not sure what you expect from the IR-X so I will address this from the most rudimentary angle possible. Forgive me if it seems like I'm talking down to you. The IR-X is a tube preamp with two channels in the same way lots of amps have more than one channel. That doesn't make it stereo. You pick one channel or the other. You don't run both channels at the same time so it's more than just the loop that is mono; it's the whole thing. The IR-X output is a TRS because it is balanced, not because it is stereo. I'm not sure how you expected to be able to derive a stereo signal from a mono device but I have a thought. It sounds like you run FRFR cabs on stage which makes me wonder what the function of the IR-X is exactly. If it is only to get the Friedman preamp tone into your sound maybe you could consider treating the IR-X as if it were an effect unit. Run the IR-X into the HXE's loop instead of the other way around. Then you could still have your stereo F/X after the IR-X and run that into your FRFRs .... no? Just a thought.
  5. This pic shows how to implement 4CM with a Helix device. It is basically the same thing as the other pic I posted except that the effects are blocks instead of separate units. If you are going to use stomp boxes in addition to the HX device you should divide them into the two groups of pre-preamp and loop and connect them in series with your HX device in their respective places; ie: input or loop. If you have a distortion box you might choose to place it before or after the HX device in your signal chain. That part is up to you but if it were me I'd probably place it after. (the orange one above) If you have one or more wet effect units that you will use in addition to the HX device you can place them in the amp's loop either before or after the HX device, again your choice. I hope this helps.
  6. Any effects you want in front of the amp go to the input of the amp. Any wet effects should go in the amp loop.
  7. He's never going to see your comments. He left here in a snooty huff two and a half years ago. Just saying ...
  8. Interesting. Maybe weird is a better word. I'll be watching this thread.
  9. Switching amp blocks can also make loud pops. Some people employ two amp blocks, one for clean, one for dirty. Turning one off and the other one on can be rather noisy.
  10. Global Settings>MIDI/Tempo>MIDI PC Send = MIDI Set H9 to respond to MIDI Channel 2 when Helix Base Channel is set to 1 In each Helix Preset go to Command Center and set IC1 to send desired H9 PC# on MIDI Channel 2
  11. ^^^ This is correct. Individual strings cannot be routed through Helix separately from the others.
  12. If you mean Helix does not show up in Explorer (Win) or Finder (Mac) then that is normal. Helix only shows up in HX Edit. It is not a storage device that you have access to like an external drive or an SD card.
  13. Right. I was looking at your crunch snap. My bad. Got your PM asking for my input. Three things: - It would never occur to me to use a Marshall for a clean tone so I have no idea what the Placater preamp does. I've never tried it. Placater is a Friedman and Friedmans are Marshalls so in my mind Placater is a Marshall. I've never owned a real Marshall and the few times I've messed around with Marshalls on Helix I've ended up going another direction so I have no idea if your settings should work. That's what I'm saying about that. I can be of no assistance there. Maybe someone with Marshall experience could chime in. I'm not trying your preset on my Helix; I am viewing the preset with a web based preset viewer. Link below. - you never did address the extra 3 dB you're shoving into the power section of your actual Marshall. (the merge mixer) That has the potential to push the power tubes harder. It probably won't make a monstrous difference but it also can't be helping either. Which brings up the third thing. - you never did say how the settings on your Marshall amplifier are adjusted. Those things aside, I don't see anything in your preset that jumps out at me. If your amp is set clean with Helix bypassed, if the extra 3 db isn't doing anything and if the Placater pre is set for clean then I don't see where the problem might be. https://hxview.netlify.app
  14. Whatever, make the DSP capability expandable is what I'm suggesting.
  15. Well for starters, you have a tubescreamer enabled so you might want to bypass that. That's a no-brainer right there. Also, your merge mixer is set to +3 dB on the output. Not sure why. If you're using the volume block on EXP1 as a volume to back off and clean up then you might want to think about changing it from linear to logarithmic. You don't have to. It's your call. I would. Also I don't normally use a volume block in my presets so I don't have any experience with switching from EXP1 to EXP2, where your Wah lives. Maybe someone with experience in that can shed some light on any possible conflicts or issues during performance. I find the placement of your volume block odd. It makes sense to me to place that either near the front of the chain or at the last but since I don't use them maybe you have a reason I don't see yet.
  16. Oh wait. Maybe there is one thing on the outside. Complete opposite of the OP though. The external Line 6 expression pedal is a cheap flimsy thing. I'd like to see them make a solid feeling metal one just exactly like the one built into Helix Floor and a latching mechanism to clip it onto Helix floor so they lock together nice and solid like. The AXE-SYS had two treadles, the AX2-212 had two treadles, the Vetta had two treadles. Helix should be able to have two treadles. Two good ones, not one good one and one flimsy thing that's loose and moves around. Helix is the flagship and it doesn't live up to its predecessors in the treadle department.
  17. Helix Floor is perfect the way it is. It is already the ideal form factor and they need not change a thing except for maybe a change on the inside of the unit to include some memory slots so users can upgrade their DSP capacity. The outside is perfect.
  18. To reduce your toe tapping (confusion?) you can swap snapshots, copy a snapshot to a different snapshot location. You can move $h!t around. You don't have to confuse things by having your snapshots in odd locations on the board. Unless you want to, of course. Then by all means keep doing what your doing. I don't think a day goes by that I don't read about somebody using Helix in a way that would never occur to me. Whatever works for you is great. Just saying you don't have to if you'd rather make it simpler. I'm all about making things easier and simpler.
  19. Yes you have missed the point I'm afraid. This is what the OP asked. A foot switch can have one function per preset, regardless of which snapshot is engaged. One. You cannot assign a foot switch to turn on/off a distortion block in snapshot 1 but instead use it to jump to a MIDI channel or different preset in snapshot 2. If a foot switch is assigned to a function in snapshot 1 it will be assigned to that function in every other snapshot in that preset.
  20. The easiest way to explain why this is not possible is as follows: Foot switch assignments are made on a per preset basis, not per snapshot. It's the same as block selections. Block selections are made per preset. You can decide which blocks in the preset are engaged or bypassed per snapshot (or adjusted) but you can't change which blocks are selected and placed in the signal path in that preset. Or rearrange them. If you need to change block selections, block placement order or foot switch assignments then you need a new preset. What you are asking is beyond the scope of a snapshot.
  21. I like this preset viewer: https://hxview.netlify.app but it also will not load ROCK.hlx Might be a bad file.
  22. Right. So after we get the connections and levels sorted out the right way let's have a look at that preset file. See if we can't figure out why the clean tone is suffering.
  23. FYI In case anybody reading this does not already know: Marshall JCM 2000 effect loop is selectable to either line level for compatibility with some rack units or instrument level for stomp boxes and most other devices. There is a control for this function on the rear panel right beside the loop jacks. I recommend keeping everything at instrument level on both units. It's just easier, less complicated, less confusing, easier troubleshooting. Whenever possible, keep it simple.
  24. I'm not sure why rd2rk suggested that approach. I'm sure there must be a reason but I can't think what it is. I always use a loop block, loop 2 in my case. I connect to send 2 and return 2 both on instrument level. I never have issues but then I don't play Marshall amps. I know guys with Marshalls and the loops and the direct outs can be finicky and noisy on some models. The Vintage Moderns for example are particularly noisy and troublesome with regard to the loop and the direct out. Your use of two Hx loops to create one loop aside, you appear to connecting it correctly or at least close enough. Could you please upload your preset file to this forum so we can take a look at what you've got going on there? Thx. At the bottom of the post-dialog box there is a link to choose files to attach to your post.
