  1. Ive been using a Celestion Vintage 30 by adding a speaker jack in the back. Really happy with the metal tones; and the clean tones are excellent with the Celestion. .

It is now very hard going back to a single amp

  2. Is your Spider still under warranty? If so , should go this route first.

Since I updated my Spder V30 with new major firmware update, the tone imrovement with stock speaker is night and day.

I am now switching between stock speaker and hiu fi speakers, depending on the song. They are all good, just differnt.

  3. I have a Spider V30; I found that it is far more reliable to edit your tones with a laptop than the phone.

This is how I operate: download presets from the cloud and pick the best ones (4) and save it to the users slots.

Open Spider remote on your laptop and edit away, even while you are playing. The Laptop can save your presets to the amp. additionally, you can save individual presets to the laptop hard drive , or do "backup" and save all the presets at once.

One bad thing: If you use the same laptop to play backing track, it will play thru the amp. I could be useful for some, but I use a second laptop.

    Hope that helps

  4. I use drop A on all 3 of my metal guitars on my Spider V30.  I always play with backing tracks or with a small band; and the built in presets may not sound good depending what speaker you use.  Making my own presets from scratch works best for me; and I always fine tune my tone as I play just as I would with a normal amp. Hope that helps.

  5. The V30 speaker is very loud, but due to the small size of the amp. it really restricts speaker tone. Boxy and no bass.

My solution is plugging in the headphone out to an old Rotel PA amp. and use a choice of Celestion Vintage 30, a Yamaha 12" organ speaker, or an old Sansui hi-fi speaker.

All 3 sound much better than stock, but I prefer the Yamaha Organ speaker
