  1. I would contact Line6 support directly. They should be able to fix your 600.
  2. The reason the USB doesn't power the Variax is that the Variax requires a bit more current than the USB standard supports.
  3. The stand alone USB interface does not support any Audio. Only for Code Updates and WB.
  4. I have never seen anything from Line6 officially on this! I have seen it said in this forum several times but if it was really a design issue, I would have thought they would caution against it in the manual or at least somewhere that everyone who owns a Variax would see it in writing. IMO it is BS.
  5. Remove the plastic tab that is on the side of the Ethernet connector. That is what hangs up in the jack. It is not supposed to be there when you have the shell.
  6. This is a common problem with that cable. The tab that locks it in should be removed from the jack in the shell.
  7. No - there have been no electronics changes just FW changes which you can do yourself. Your guitar was made in 2012. (Serial number W12....)
  8. Paperless for manuals is the only way to keep them up to date. I too like reading a paper manual though.
  9. If you want really good acoustic sounds, you need a full range speaker system like a PA. (or an acoustic / keyboard amp)
  10. Not at all surprising since the Snapshots are a new feature that was not in the original FW. The thumb drives were probably made before the change.
  11. Tweed Deluxe and Deluxe Reverb are actually quite different amps. One is cathode biased and the other is fixed bias. Both use 6L6 tubes. I have built clones of both amps and they are quite different.
  12. I agree that this design flaw is a real weakness. I think it's worse for folks that tend to sweat and get it on the bridge during playing. Pretty soon you have a bad connection on at least one of the piezos. I replaced the piezos with Ghost saddles on my Variax 500 several years ago and it' been perfect ever since. Two wires per pickup is the right way to do this.
  13. Grounding issues can be odd and hard to track down sometimes. A DI is often a good solution.
  14. BS! There is no way you would get voltage doubling. The higher voltage will provide the power. There is noting in the Variax docs that says take the battery out when not using it!
  15. Somebody said that a Tele neck might fit but I have not heard any more about that. Strat neck does not fit the Std.
  16. By the way there is nothing in the written pilot's guides that says you can't do this. But it's been said here. I'm not sure I buy it but it's a bad circuit design if this can overload anything. The two interfaces are not the same hardware. One is digital and the other's analog. I would love to hear an explanation from one of the Line6 circuit designers but I don't think they are on this forum.
  17. It is not recommended but for the life of me I don't know why!
  18. I have the Peterson App for my Iphone too and I don't think it works as well as my Peterson VSII Tuner. Not sure why but I get better results with the VSII.
  19. Doesn't mean squat! Many music stores have sales people that have no clue about the products they are selling.
  20. The biggest difference is that the Ghost pickups have two wires each (signal and GROUND) this is much more reliable and these pickups are definitely an upgrade! Only down side is that they have much more output so you have to dial the gain down on the strings in WB to keep from saturating the DSP.
  21. Eneloops will work fine in the 500. Get a couple sets so when your battery dies, you can swap in a new set. One more thing to be bvery careful of - When changing the battery carrier, do NOT every touch it with the wrong polarity or you will smoke one of the components on the board. Look carefully and make sure you mate the connector the right way every time! It won't mate the wrong way but you can make the connection with reverse polarity and blow stuff up. It has happened to a bunch of folks on this forum.
