I ordered the H-DK 2.21 Drone Kit for Helix (to make it fly to my gigs).
Guess I have to install the self aware update first...
Any experiences or recommendations?
Furthermore, I need the WiFi cloud connector (H-WFCC)
to update Helix anytime and everywhere.
With H-DK, is it possible to update the firmware
during the flight (hover mode)?

I noticed my "classic" boss gt5's belly is getting bigger. I think helix has been sneaking out of its case.
Come to think of it, all my tube amps have been "acting" different lately.....hmmmmmmm.
How do I keep Helix in it's own bed?

Also heard that 'tube' food tasted better and had more organic nutrients in it. My palatte can't tell, but some tube snobs insist that 'Tube Food' is better.
Geraldo will want all organic and gluten free diet or every amp will turn into a model of a Gorilla amp.

This is what I used, It's called a standard railing flange.

Two nuts, two bolts (make sure they are long enough), and two large washers.
It seems very sturdy. I'm a little worried about a drunk person using it to hold themselves up and bending the mic stand or ripping the wood out of the pedalboard but I think that's a low probability.
Measure the diameter of your mic stand to be sure but 7/8" is pretty standard. The 3/4" rating of the flange is because it fits a pipe and the interior of the pipe is 3/4" so don't let that fool you.

For $10 I added a mic stand to my pedalboard. I can't believe how easy it was.

I have a Mimiq pedal that I put in the loop of the Helix at the very end of the chain only before reverb. It does a good job of giving a fuller sound and making the guitar sound in stereo. I'm the only guitar player in my band (hard rock cover band) so I feel it's a little more 3D experience this way. I only plug into the effected side of the Mimiq and keep the dry side untouched.
What I was doing before I had the mimiq was to use a Simple Pitch block last in the chain before the reverb with it's own path panned to the right 100% and a dry signal on the left panned 100%. The Interval is zero, cents at -6.9, Delay at 20ms, shift level at 10.0, Mix 100%, Level +5.0dB. The right (effected) side will sound a little warbly like a chorus but with the dry side it give a great stereo sound. This is very close to what EVH achieved on the albums 5150, OU812, and F.U.C.K.
I really only prefer the Mimiq by about 20% and it doesn't use any DSP on Helix so that's a bonus too. You can mess around with the cents and delay time a little and see what you like.
Here is a recent video I did comparing the sounds. I was running both side of the Mimiq at this time but the effect is the same.

The ojai is quite small, but of course there's a power adaptor.
What about the power cable for the Helix? I like the right angle.

Can you please share where you got the power cable and midi cables from? I'm trying to streamline my board as well.
The hardest thing I am dealing with is actually the power supply. I have at least four things to power (three are bricks) so I'm looking for a way to make that neat and clean. Yours is under the board so that's easy. Mine has to go on top.

So maybe I misread a little bit. I use the Helix live and I have seen several other bands in my area using the Helix and no amp also. If you do it right there should be no problem.

I found on the Jim Dunlop website that most of the Wah pedals have manuals. There are specs for many of the wahs listed with heel down and toe down frequencies.
For example, the EVH Wah:
Filter Parameter Low Pass ..................... 300Hz ~ 380Hz High Pass .................. 1.9kHz ~ 2.3kHz
The Q also makes each wah unique, which is the width of the frequency that is spiked. If you like Fassel inductors then you start with the Fassel wah model.
What I hope Line6 does in the future is allow the adjustment of the Q in the Helix. At that point you can pretty much customize the Wah to sound like whatever you want.

Seeing your follow up post above I would say that I am constantly tweaking our PA and mixing board to make things sound better from gig to gig. However, your guitar tone should be consistent. Whatever you use live as your monitor your should be using at practice and rehearsal. You will be more familiar with the sound (so will the band) and you will also be familiar with problems that might pop up.
You are not crazy.

I didn't read anything in that email that said anything about your tone or the quality of the Helix. Your bass player did not eloquently state his case. I feel from my experience I can extrapolate a few things:
- He couldn't hear you at practice. You probably need to get an amp, FRFR or some other solution so that he can hear you.
- Your band doesn't have a PA or not a very adequate one. So far, my band has only played maybe 5% of our gigs where a PA and soundman was provided. Our PA is very loud with two mains, two subs, and two monitors. I also have my own two monitors I use to hear my guitar and the band mix. If you don't have your own dedicated monitor or amp you must get one. I pretty much feel this way about each band member. It's your responsibility.
- You're tones were all over the place and some tones don't match with the band. There is a strong desire to want to have a different tone for every song and try to match the artist. In my opinion, that couldn't be further from reality. I use one distorted tone and one clean tone for pretty much 95% of the songs we play. I do have different presets due to special FX for certain songs (like I might only use a tremelo for one song so that has a special preset). Keeping your tone more consistent between songs allows the other members of the band to pick you out of the mix easier. Also, you find your sonic space that way. Put it this way, does the drummer use a different snare for each song to try to match the tone?
I don't think your bass player is correct in pretty much anything he said. Bottom line is make sure the band is able to hear you and they are comfortable telling you to change something. They should be able to say "that song sounds horrible on that guitar can you try another guitar" without fear of hurting your feelings.
The bass player seems pretty set in his ways but many soundmen used to be also. The prevalence of Kempers, Axe-FX, and Helix have changed many minds in the last 3 + years.

So it seems that Mission Engineering has a "spring load" option on their expression pedal. It will always go back to a heel down position.
I would like to do this on mine but I think I would have to send it in to them and have them make the modification.
Has anyone done their own modification to an expression pedal like this?
I've seen people convert Wah pedals by turning around a metal piece under the foot thing but that is not easy to get to without possibly damaging the pedal.
Adding a spring? Foam? Any other ideas?

The gray flanger is the MXR Flanger. It sounds pretty good but not as good as the real thing. I can pull off "Unchained" with it but it's just not the same. The phase 90 sounds amazing. I don't think anyone can tell the difference on that one.

This should answer most of your questions:
I think this video does an excellent job. I would say the only effect on the Helix that does not deliver the top notch quality of the rest is the reverb. The delays are outstanding. I use the phaser and chorus (it's a model of the old BOSS CE-1 analog chorus) that sounds great.
The only beef I have with the Helix is the sweep of the Expression pedal. It is not comfortable for using as a wah in my opinion. But you can buy the Mission exp-1 L6 and that feels just like a wah in the sweep.
Find someone in your area that has a Helix and ask to buy them a beer (or a coffee) and try it out for 15 minutes or so.

You are wrong sir. The Helix 2.3 update contains multiple modeled buffers. The all digital signal through the Helix needs buffers to help eliminate the fizz. It won't get rid of all of it, however as mentioned previously.
