@PierM please post your Support Ticket info here and I'll be happy to attach it to a post I just submitted to the Beta Testing Team.

Same goes for any others following this thread whom may have submitted Support Tickets.

  2. These toys are useless these days. Too much wireless pollution that only pro grade wireless stuff can probably handle.

I did the same mistake, buying a G10S with the hope to solve the connections issues I was getting with the standard G10, but was pretty much the same glitchy experience, if not worse.

The Rotary Encoders' sensitivity was enhanced in firmware 3.50.

If you are experiencing instances with selections skipping or jumping when using any of the rotary controls, submit a Support Ticket to Line 6 describing the specifics of your findings, so that the sensitivity may be further refined in the next firmware update.

The best place to report anomalies is by posting a Support Ticket to Line 6!

Not sure what would be the point to implement a sensitivity curve to the preset/block knob (which I believe is just a mechanical encoder) . In fact I always thought the encoders affected by the speed of rotation are just the params encoders under the display.

As for the support ticket; I do always do that, but when it's about hardware behaviour the answers are always the same by protocol.. Global reset, and then ship to service. :)

I will report this as possible bug tho.

    I haven't noticed anything yet.
(But then again, I only switch presets when I'm "switching" bands that I'm playing with, i.e. whether I play e-bass, a-bass, fretless bass, e-guitar, a-guitar, etc.)

Of course it happens even when you are editing a preset, and scrolling lateral through a path. That's bloody annoying as sometimes it skips the block you need to edit.

OT; i had the chance to hold an Ampero Stomp II and I wish Line 6 would make things feeling that solid. Smooth knobs, no wobbling pots, no clicky clicky FS, no cheap feeling...

    Hi all,

My HX Stomp has developed a fault whereby turning the scroll wheel causes it to jump two presets. This is making it very difficult to use live, as I need to press PAGE and then change presets using the footswitches. Is there any fix to this?

    Thanks

Yep, rotary encoder misfiring. I'm getting the same problem since last week. Not much you can do, as these encoders are sealed and I wouldn't suggest to attempt a contact cleaner approach.

I'm using a midi controller now to browse presets as it's skipping one every four, or five...just random.

Not really a mystery - according to his status on LinkedIn, he left Line 6 way back in 2015, that explains the failed mail.

Same old, same old in here. They just don’t care - maybe time to visit TGP or Facebook.

    Sigh.

Just dropped a message to Frank L.

Let's see if he's aware, or he doesn't care. XD

That would be a very good point, but the same message occurs if you try to upvote anything in the Catalyst, or POD/Firehawk sections of IdeaScale. As the message states “Community is set to Read Only” it would seem to be throughout the site. The “Contact” menu button at the bottom of the page simply gives an email link to <sdevino@line6.com> which I intend try now.

    EDIT:

My email to the listed contact was bounced by the mail sever as undeliverable - very efficient!

    Hi,

Hmm…? Something very odd going on with the IdeaScale at the moment, because a couple of people have reported that they had found that trying to “upvote” a suggestion did not register. In fact, trying to vote brought up this message:-

Community is set to Read Only. Any update operation is not allowed.

I’m not sure what is going on there, and I’m not even sure who should be responsible for the maintenance of that site. I will have a scout around for any other reports of this issue and see if I can find a way to report this situation. Thanks for advising the current status.

Could be the product is on its EOP ramp (which would be expected after almost 9 years), and they are just wrapping things up.

  9. Single coils are very sensible to interference (60Hz or 50Hz hum/noise), and that's being enhanced with hi gain amps.

See if you find a spot in the room that does reduce the problem.

    • Thanks 1
  10. I had a floor; 2 scribble strips broken, joystick fail, rotary fail. Repaired all by myself and sold.

Then I had the rack; joystick fail, repaired under warranty. Joystick fail again, Helix Control with tap tempo microswitch misfire.... repaired by myself and sold after some time.

Now I only own the HX Stomp, patch rotary encoder starting misfiring.

As a loyal HX owner, fanboy and daily user, I can confirm hardware is subpar (at least in my own little statistic). :)

  11. I keep reading requests like that, but you dont need any extra function.

Just set a FS to work as press/release and set "Stop to press" and "Stop to release". Pressing that once will erase the loop. (commands/looper)

Using dedicated commands you can setup a full featured looper, still I see people complaining.

Right on! Keep voting for this on IdeaScale (as discussed above). Its seems almost silly to have to vote, though. Do people have to vote to have access to roads?  Or toothbrushes? Every amp sim I am running these days has a standalone app. Except Helix Native.

    Looks like votes are locked? Getting this message;

  13. As a G10 owner, I don't suggest this system for gigs. They can be fine for rearshal if room is clean from WiFi. Extremely unreliable unless you are playing in a location where you're sure there aren't many WiFi devices around. I can't use this system anymore because of that. Also tried to solve grabbing the G10S, but didn't change anything. There is not a single reliable and stable channel due the fact today every single house has at least a WiFi router ongoing, then there are access points, mesh systems, repeaters etc... This is a problem that only a professional wireless system can handle.

  14. Well, using the looper you just set the loop time by ending the recording. All the overdub will still fill that same cycle time.

So, if you need a 7 seconds delay time, you tap Rec, count 7, then press again. Then start overdubbing, will always cycle 7 seconds.

Im not Aldo. Im PierM everywhere I go. :) o/

  15. Yes it is totally possible with the looper, and very easy to do; just set the overdub level to be around  -3dB (or more), so you'll get old material fading away while adding new material (overdub decay) like happens with the two tapes technique (frippertronics).

Said that, the original concept was that Delay Time was the result of the distance between Record Head and Playback Head, so a more realistic tape frippertronics would be achieved with a standard mono Delay block, set in the 4~8 seconds range, and using the Feedback parameter to simulate the natural sound on sound decay. Trail better if set to on.

You can then add some filter at subtle levels, like Retro Reel, to give the tone the proper tape'ish sound.

    Works great with both methods.

    Oh, dear,

I guess that we are all getting really weary of this sort of nonsense - if you cannot follow simple instructions, how about following a video.

    Hope this helps/makes sense.

Although, judging by some of the other total insanity happening in here , maybe not.

There is for sure people doing wrong, but there is still room to improve the update system imho. I'm reading WAAAAAY to many of these problems. It's too easy to mess things up, and a solid firmware update mechanism shouldn't allow that.

Funny thing is we are now heading back suggesting the use of the "old" l6 updater, instead HX Edit...which was supped to solve the l6 updater problems back in the days.

My point is that if you're an authorized shop, you need to know what you are doing.  If you take on a repair job, then you complete it.  Instead of that, the guy opened it up, said "f this", and then stripped all the screws, didn't put the lid back on properly and said "I think we'll pass".  This is unacceptable.

This applies to other things, like cars.  I have a Ford and ever since the beginning my car was constantly treated like a piece of junk, even when it was a few months old.  Just a general lack of care, responsibility.

Yeah man, I said already I totally get your point as that guy was really unprofessional.

I was just pointing out that an authorized repair shop remains an independent bench, so he can refuse any task, but wasn't an argument against your POV, which remains totally justified. (In your shoes I'd be pissed off like you, if not more)

Also, there is no "certification". It's just a repair shop that has a deal with yamaha to take care of their stuff, but again, they are forced to do nothing if they don't want to.

That guy should have said NO THANKS since from the start. That's where he messed up.

Well, in case you're a certified Line 6 repair shop, it might not be the best move, though. Otherwise, you might not be a Line 6 repair shop much longer...

Not sure how it works over there, but never heard of "certified" centers, just authorized. (worked myself in one of those "authorized" centers for Quad amplifiers when I was very young)

An authorized center isn't forced to do anything (it's an indipendent bench, that's it), they just are authorized from a specific manufacturer to do a task, access parts, and stay compliant with the manufacturer process and warranty regulations. Then, if you have problems with a repair shop, you contact your local/area distributor, which is the proper entity that has to help you finding another one.

There is no such thing as corporal punishments if you don't do a job you don't want do, lol!

  19. On 12/5/2022 at 10:18 PM, theElevators said:

That is absolutely fine to say "we don't do this" or "no thanks".  You don't instead agree to work on something, then after 4 days realize it's "PITA".

Agree. This is just unprofessional. 100% unprofessional.

  20. Not justifying the guy at the service, but Id be curious to know how much money they get from tasks like these.

Honestly Id be probably one of those guys telling "no thanks" as those are a PITA to repair, yep I can assure you (and I do repair my audio devices on my own since late '80)...

Hi everyone, I installed the latest Line 6 HX Stomp Driver2 (Version 1.97.0.2) for Windows 10.

When I try to start a recording session on Ardour, the HX Stomp is recognized, I can select the drive ASIO...

but then when I start the session Ardour crashes...

Has anybody have any issues with the HX Stomp, a DAW on Windows and the latest driver(s) ?

    Thanks

    Vincent

In the previous driver there was a bug crashing Cakewalk, that they fixed in the latest version (which is the one you have installed). This means could be there is another one crashing Ardour. You should report it in the bug section, and maybe open a support ticket.

For now seems working fine with Ableton, but each DAW has its own code to call and use the ASIO drivers.

  22. They are not like those PCs with negative internal pressure due the forced airflow, pulling tons of dust and crap in the inside.

Air Pressure inside a passive cooling device, that also has no vents like the Helix, it's same as the outside. (Always better to use a vacuum cleaner instead of compressed air)

Risk to damage an electronic device opening and touching circuits, twisting and pulling ribbons, is WAY higher than a bit of dust.

As for the tactile switches; Isnt dust the problem...they do either naturally break or get surface oxidation.
