    Hi,

I would suggest the standard ticket option with Customer Support.

Although, IIRC, the “fast Native cursor” issue was supposed to have been addressed in the latest release of Helix Native and HX Edit version 3.51. I realise this would not solve the Stomp hardware encoder, but it may be worth verifying if the problem with Native is actually fixed in the new version which was released on 29 November 2022, prior to your first post in this thread and only mentions v.3.50.

    Hope this helps/makes sense.

Ya, it's faster than ever in 3.51.

  2. Do I just open a regular support ticket or is there a different route to support for bugs/suggestions?

I'd guess the speedy Stomp knob and fast Native cursor are both related to the 'improved ballistics.'

A simple min/max slider seems to be the move here.

There are other reports of Reaper crashing with 3.50 Native. Check the dedicated Native forum.

    https://line6.com/support/forum/90-helix-native/

I'm having crashes in Reaper also.

My Reaper crashes when playing, not when inserting Native.

It crashes when Native receives midi input from another track, for snapshot changes or other parameter and only if Native window is visible. If I close the window it doesn't crash. Only happens since 3.50 update.

Do you have any midi hardware connected to reaper? Or midi tracks? Is the track where you insert Native receiving any sort of midi instructions?

Unrelated to midi, maybe your Windows Security is protecting the folder where the vst or the rest of native is installed. Check if the controlled access folder is activated.

Or maybe get rid of any native install you have. And clean the old and new installation folders. Fresh install may solve the problem. Maybe it's a conflict with both versions installed, a VST vs VST3 conflict or some leftovers from the old version still present.

    Always backup first.

    Cheers

Ya, I got a footswitch going it all the time (it's part of my template). I'll try removing it.

Also, I never keep a VST and VST3 version of the same plugin; just keep the VST3.

    Thanks.

This was posted in the Helix Native area of the forum.

See the last reply from “matsulli”.

    Hope this helps/makes sense.

Does it matter that the OP is on Windows, and I'm on Mac?

AH HA! I was looking for Native to totally crash out of Reaper. Apparently, something I did crashed the Reaper Audio Engine. I wasn't looking for that!

After closing Reaper and reloading it, the project totally crashed Reaper. I needed to open the project in safe mode to delete Native, after which the rest of the project was fine.

You've got a BUG! Open a Support Ticket and PLEASE report back!

I'm not much on the technical side of things... I'm not sure how to phrase the support ticket, since I'm still not sure of the exact cause for the crash.

Babyfaces are a great choice. You might not be able to get them at this point in time, though (massive supply shortage). Heck, Thomann has even taken them out of their shop since a while already.

I have as well heard pretty good things about the latest Motu offerings.

In case you're prepared for some reading (but for the most complete information on that very subject as well), I highly recommend this thread on Gearspace:

    https://gearspace.com/board/music-computers/618474-audio-interface-low-latency-performance-data-base.html

Unfortunately, that won't work. Latency is always as high (sometimes even a bit higher) as what the slowest part of the aggregate device is able to deliver.

I was afraid of that... So, if I get the Babyface, I'd have to rec everything separately, to use my UAD plugs during tracking. That seems like a hassle.

If you can clarify that I'll try to duplicate it, but Reaper 6.69 hasn't crashed on me so far.

Now I'm on Reaper 6.70 and Helix Native 3.50 is still crashing it. I created a blank project and opened every plugin (from my template) individually...and then just like it idle. The only time it ever crashed was when I had Helix opened. Every time Reaper eats it, It's from a completely different action in Helix...it could be anything from changing a parameter to opening a second instance, etc.

I'm not sure how I can reproduce something like this tho. Lmk if ya got any ideas.

  8. I'm currently using a 1st generation Silverface UA Apollo 4p. It's a great unit, but has high latency numbers.

Ideally, I'd like to setup an Aggregate Device with a small interface, with low latency, for my guitar input, and the Apollo for everything else.

Is the RME Babyface Pro FS the best it gets for this situation, or are there any smaller/cheaper interfaces with equally good latency?

    Thanks.

  9. It seems like the new 3.50 native update is crashing Reaper (v6.69). It doesn't happen right away, but not long after moving a box will cause the crash.

    Anyone else experienced something similar?

  10. Anyone use a Tube Preamp infront of the DI box w/ Helix Native? Whether it be a studio grade Mic Pre or All Tube Guitar Pre, altho I'm more interested in the later....

I was reading how it can really improve the realism of the Amp Sim.

    What has your experience been?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

I’m not entirely sure how relevant this is, but this is noted on the Reaper download page for Mac: (my bold italics)

”Note: the macOS 10.15+ macOS download is notarized and uses the "hardened runtime," which may reduce compatibility with certain plug-ins. You may still run the regular 64-bit macOS download on macOS 10.15 - macOS 12; however, you must shift+right click and choose "Open" when running that version for the first time.

    Hope this helps/makes sense.

    Oh, rad! Thanks.

I've seen this before, but always forget to do it.

  12. Anyone having this issue? I'm using the latest version of Helix Native, 3.15, that supports Silicon.

I'm trying it from an empty Project...I create one new track, select Helix Native (VST3) from the Plugin Browser and CRASH!

However, I also have a template that loads an instance of Helix to one of the tracks, and this works as expected.

From here I can copy the instance to other tracks as well.

It's only when I try loading Helix from scratch that it crashes Reaper.

I have the latest ARM version of Reaper, 6.41, and I'm opening it natively.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks.

  13. How accurate is the acoustic tone from Helix, when using a Piezo pup?

only been able to get so far with a humbucker. The sound is still really thin and lacks any of the body tone.

I've never used a Piezo, so I'm kinda sceptical on it getting a usable acoustic tone...that's good enough to pass for real in a recording.

Any recommendations on a quality Piezo?

    Thanks.

No, they are separate pieces of software. Go to the Downloads page. Make sure you leave the hardware dropdown set to the default, "Choose Hardware". Then select "Helix Native" from the software dropdown(middle) and then select your OS in the third dropdown.

Oh, right on. I was clicking on the link in the release notes...I need to go to the download page.

    Thanks!

  15. I took a chance with Mikko and bought the VX30 pack.

Either the Darkest AC30 in existence was used, or all settings on the sound capture equipment are tailored for the modern chugger.

I've owned Mikko for a while now, and to date, when I want a vintage tone (which is 99% of the time) it's never made it into one of my guitar's plugin chains.

I have used it for Sabbath type stuff, but as the title says, I'm leaving Metal out of this thread.

I'm usually going for 70's glam tones.

Has anyone got a good vintage, NON-Metal, sound...with any of the Mikko Cabs?

If so, please share your method.

    Thanks.

  16. Hey, I'm having a hard time figuring out how to change the Snapshot with my MIDI Foot Controller. Where can I set this?

I see the "Snapshot Index" parameter in Reaper, but it only goes from the current Snapshot to the 8th one, when I assign it. I'm guessing this is better controlled inside of Helix, ya?

    Thanks.
