1.30 for POD Go and POD Go Wireless is now available

    What a great update !

I just miss the improved Glitch Delay with the ability to set the 2 note intervals.

Hopefully, this will be in a future update.

    Thanks a lot.

nonono ..  That's what a seed is number is.  If you start with seed X, then generate 1000 random numbers using the seed, you will always get the exact same numbers.

I fully understand what is a seed number for generating pseudo random numbers.
Indeed, I've worked on Monte Carlo simulations. And when you want to have the same result on each simulation, you need to use the same seed number but also the same initial value for all parameters.

If you don't have the initial value of parameters (i.e for the glitch delay the number of slices, the order of slices, reverse / octave for each slice), generating the same sequence of pseudo random numbers to affect the delay is useless.

And yeah my point is that if you get the 'magic' pattern "N, R, N, O1, R, R, O2, N" and play with it for 2h, well, if you turn off the Go, or change patches, or whatever, when you come back, you'll get a totally different pattern.  So if you had built some song and techniques with this pattern, well you lost it, each time, it's a different pattern.

To be practical or usable, we would have needed a seed # (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Random_seed).

Agreed. Setting the Seq Drift to 0 freezes the current sequence but this sequence is lost when you turn off the POD Go or change patches.

However, having a seed for generating random numbers predictably would not be sufficient. The current sequence needs to be saved as well to serve a a starting point.

So basically, the current "magic" sequence just needs to be saved. This could be done each time the Seq Drift is set to 0.

Maybe we can request an enhancement to Line 6 ...

  4. I haven't played a lot with that delay but randomness is clearly intended.

From my understanding, it's the Seq Drift that has the most influence on randomness :

    • Seq Drift—Determines the likelihood of the entire sequence changing every time it loops around. When set to 0%, the same sequence loops forever. TIP: Assign this parameter to a footswitch set to toggle between a higher number and 0%. If you hear a random sequence you want to maintain, press the switch to set Seq Drift to 0%, and it’ll repeat that way indefinitely

If you want a small amount of randomness, you should set the Seq Drift to a small value.

But if you don't want any randomness at all, this is clearly not the adequate delay.

Is anyone else having this glitch on their new Pod Go Edit v1.21 or is this just me?

Also, and this could of course be intentional & due to the acoustic simulator using more DSP than the fixed EQ allowance, but in the fixed block you don't see it as an option - only if you go to the EQ models in a user block. Bit of a shame as you can't then swap the fixed EQ for the Ac Sim.

I use only POD Go Edit to update my POD Go !

But on the POD Go, you cannot select the acoustic sim in the fixed Eq block.

You can only select the acoustic sim from the Eq category of a freely usable block.

So this is the same weird behaviour as in POD Go Edit.

This looks like a bug or at least an inconsistent and counter intuitive behaviour.

Just to be clear, I have not seen a single lockup since updating to 1.12....I have never seen the boot up with no sound...I think your issue is hardware if you have updated to 1.12.

A hardware issue would not be easily fixed with just a reboot...

As a former software engineer, I know from experience that some software bug can create issues only randomly.

I'm glad for you that you have no problem.

But I faced those problems and it seems others also (see the latest posts on the topic "New POD Go freezing up").

Maybe it's a hardware issue or maybe the software is not sufficiently robust to take into account some hardware behaviour.

After the update i played with it several times and seemed to be fine, but yesterday, when I power on, the sound was always the same. No matter which footswitch, button, i press... i had to restar.

Anyone having this problem on 1.12??

It happened once for me with firmware 1.12. I could not change the sound whatever I do. And I had to restart the POD Go.

I also had once a freeze during the boot. And several times, after the boot, no sound at all. Again, a restart fixed the problem but it's not very satisfying.

  8. I also experience some latency with the 1 switch looper during an overdub. And indeed, the 6 switch works better in the same context.

However, for me, it's not a real problem as I tend to engage the overdub a little while before the "decisive moment".

Fortunately, there is no such latency during the initial record.

I am an amp model addict. I love the choices. I love the variety. I love the subtle difference.

First, a big thanks for your DSP allocation chart https://benvesco.com/store/helix-dsp-allocations/

Like you, I love choice and subtle difference but I'm more a delay addict ;-) !

Did you know Helix actually has two models of the RE-201? One is the Cosmos Echo which is the new HX model. The other is under the Legacy folder and is called Multi-Head and is the RE-201 model from the POD HD series. Fortunately for us, the Multi-Head model of the RE-201 is available on POD Go! It's a different sounding model but is still a quite good delay and can help capture that classic RE-201 sound. Try it out!

Yes, I know the Multi-Head and indeed it's a useful delay where you can choose the heads you want to use. But I would love to tweak the wov / flutter, splice and other settings that are only available on the Cosmos Echo.

Given your chart, the Cosmos Echo (25.6%) is just a bit more DSP intensive than the Xenomorph Fuzz (24.7%) but less than the Ampeg Scrambler (31.7%), the latter being included in the POD Go.

Hopefully, we could have all FX models that uses equal or less DSP than the Ampeg Scrambler in a future POD Go firmware update.

I gave up hoping the Poly stuffs (even if they are included in the HX Stomp) ... I just received an EHX Pitch Fork + yersterday and I'm quite happy with it so far.

Also, I think Line 6 might hope that a fair number of Pod Go customers will 'progress' to buy Helix (LT or Floor). If they put more into Pod Go they'd be losing some potential upgrade market.

I may be wrong but I don't think that many POG Go users will upgrade to the Helix LT or Floor given the huge price difference.

The HX Stomp and HX Effects are closer to the POG Go price wise.

The HX Stomp and HX Effects have more routing and input/output options (eg MIDI in/out) ... The POG Go has a built-in expression pedal and a great and simple user interface. They're different in terms of "hardware" and usage.

I've chosen the POG Go and I fully understand the limitation of a single effect chain and the lack of choice for mono/stereo per effect type for simplicity sake.

In the photography world, Fuji is well known to improve their cameras through firmware upgrades.

Their cameras differs in terms of hardware or physical features (dedicated physical dials, weather resistance...).

But for the same generation of image sensor and processor, the entry level and the high level cameras have the same image quality and features. The choice is based on the hardware / physical features.

I hope that Line 6 has the same philosophy as Fuji.

I hope the POD Go to have the same individual effects that the HX Stomp and HX Effects have and not be "locked artificially".

  11. Hi all,

I've submitted the following idea on line6.ideascale.com

Idea 5555 - DSP intensive effects on POD Go

The POD Go sound and user friendly interface are great.
However, the DSP intensive effects from HELIX (e.g. Cosmos Echo) are not available.
And this will probably be the case for other HELIX 3.0 effects.

It would be awesome to be able to use these missing Helix effects even if selecting one of them means fewer or no more blocks available for other effects.
And without compromising the streamlined interface of the POG Go, these effects could be visible only if a preference setting (e.g. "Enable heavy FX") is chosen by the user.

May be some of you will agree and vote for this idea.

I'm not quite sure why the 3 Osc Snth wasn't included in Pod Go as based on the Helix DSP useage it would use up less DSP than the dual pitch, which is included in Pod Go

According to the FAQ, it's because this effect exists only in stereo, and the POD Go only includes mono version of Pitch/Synth effects.

you sure? I knew at least one or two amps are not there. if I go wrong, good to know.

Take a look at the "POD Go FAQ" topic. Every HX amp / cab are included.
