Shame mine shipped with no manual in it..so if I'm going on line to research it, makes sense to come here.

I've attemted a few things.

Attach a switch to Master in the amp...even a 4db shift offers little difference and in some cases, the amp block just goes dark when I press the button.
Add a volume block, call it gain, at the end of the signal chain...Nope...that didn't seem to want to work well either..lost all the tone.

So...I know it can be done...
(Pretty sure when I get more money, I'm going to the Racked version..has a few bells and whistles I miss from Fractal..)

Y connector, BLACK end (isn't that sheild? or Sleeve?) attached to Helix and it works great..thanks

THanks...will try that. The Legacy Talk box runs off an LFO and not controlled in any way useful by pedal.

LOL Well, I alread ordered the Breakout Y connectors. so, same same but will work.
It never ends no matter who the maker is.
Fractal has proprietary plugs. Helix has proprietary plugs or jacks.
Just stupid...Cuz everyone knows a LIGHTNING connector is far better than a USB-c...lol.....

Cutting the blue wire didn't seem to do the trick....Just ordered three of the Y cables.

it's doing the 0-100-0 thing on both TRS and TS

so it would appear that now I need to sell the MFC 101 Mk III, and the two Fractal Pedals as well as the EV1 that isn't LINE 6 (Both exhibit the same behavior)
Since it also seems I have to get Mission pedals made FOR HELIX?

the Manual leaves a LOT to be desired.
Perhhaps it's in there and I just can't find it.
But, in the verison I have (my unit came with no manual so I had to get it online...I assume the one for Helix 3 is the right one?

No info on expression pedals as far as calibrating them....the current volume pedal, attached to Exp 2...MIDWAY is 100%...Toe down..0
Toe up  0....50% is 100%...and I can find NOTHING in this manual for it.

Preset choices maybe? So far, I've not had to tweak output volumes anywhere NEAR the degree to which is was a never ending nightmare with the Ultra

1. I opted to make this number one because it was a constant source of irritation with the Axe.
NO TWO PRESETS HAVE THE SAME VOLUME LEVELS ON AN AXE..and in some cases, there is NO OUTPUT at all until you readjust or shut off the compressor.
I would spend an hour creating a preset and four hours trying to accurately match the volume levels to the other presets.

EVERYTHING comes out at the same relative volume on the Helix.

2. Some of the amp models exceed the Ultra in that they already have an amazing sound and I don't have to tweak.

3. I do MISS the Formant Filter..which emulates a talk box by creating a group of vowel sounds rather than Wah sounds. Haven't seen one in here yet..may be called something else though.
Still poking around..so I don't have the full lay of the DSP landscape yet.

4. Much less Labor intense to create, edit, move etc...a preset

The switch numbers on the device, are 1A 2A 3A etc...and the documentation refers to Sw 1 or Sw 2 or Sw 10 or Sw 11....so, is there a map or legend that shows what switches are which number? Cuz it isn't clear to me at all
I think i've determined that across the bottom, its' 11 down to 8 across the bottom and that's it..after that I'm lost.
And I only realized that because I want to assign a switch to a device I want to add....Helix Edit works great for that..except...I have no idea where the switches are it's asking me do I want to use.

If you are using a Helix Floor, your external pedal cannot be switchable.  Plug in a pedal and it's immediately EXP 2. 

 

On Helix Rack, you can attach the external pedal and have it be switchable.

Personally I'd love a FORMANT filter....the original wah that never happened...it creates OO OU OW AA EH Ma and a few other vowel sounds..creates the perfect talk box.
The ONE thing I miss coming from Ultra II that was stolen...didn't want to wait four or five months for an AXE III to be available (Same issue with the Helix Rack..can't wait..I have no gear till this insurance mess is cleared up)...may get the rack after insurance settles.

Ok...a little research did it.
Exp 1, will ramain WAH with switch..I don't use the volume pedal in that way unless it's specific to a certain song..I will use Exp 2 for Volume, and Exp 3 for, whatever parameter I want to attach in a given preset

By the way, the Floor unit, 3.10 at least, has EXT 2 and EXT 3 on it.
I can use the mission pedal AND the Fractal Exp Pedal as well for just paramater changes.
Hopefully there is a formant filter coming....I'm a Casino / Wedding musician...I need that filter...We do some bon jovi stuff.
I don't want to have to buy a Banshee (self amped talk box) cuz that's more crap to carry...lol

Couldn't wait four months for the rack.
My entire rig was stolen in Sept from a locked trailer..and now have to sue the errors and ommisions insurance on the agent because after it was explained we were insuring music gear used to make a living..he sold an apartment renters policy to the drummer who owned the trailer...now it's a fight..I needed gear now..if they pony up the $36K we lost...I'll get a rack..but I'm pretty sure I'm not going back to Fractal....I don't want to spend 10 hours a day tweaking..I want to play

and DAMN this thing is NOISY when I run it in audition mode (plugged into computer AND outputs to amp)

What I'm looking for is, to use my Mission SP1, two output (Toe switch and expression out). So I attach this to Exp 2? Where do I send the switch?
Also, is there a FORMANT filter so I can create a talk box? (so far the only main difference I'm seeing between this and the $2,400 more expensive Axe III

Starting to feel like I may have made a mistake coming from Axe Effects to Helix...I had a toe switch Mission Exp Pedal that was dedicated wah....it was active on all blocks and it acted the same as a Cry Baby....nothing happened unless I pressed it down to activate the toe swich..it was also the same pedal that controlled my Formant Filter (talk box) which appears to not exist in the Helix.
