I use mine going right into my UAD apollo via SPDIF, not sure if yours has that option but works great for me.

makes sense, at least within the line6 world, all the FBV type controllers are compatible wiring wise at least. what gets controlled can vary though.
-
No risk at all. It’s just a controller!

spider jam is also really old (spider III generation tech, released with the spider IV generation amps) and cannot use the spider edit software at all.
i do believe that the spider jam being built around a looper will use the express in jam control mode to do the same as ABCD on the full shortboard.
(NO BANK CONTROL ON EXPRESS AKA NO E BUTTON)
also no reason to worry about MKII versions of the express or shortboard as the jam will not utilize the USB...

you need variax workbench software, not workbench HD, that is incompatible.
-
No, But the floyd rose version was always a limited run.
the variax standard and shuriken models are the new ones... i wouldn't be surprised to learn all the JTV models are going to get harder to find.

yes its free.

Not possible. At All. No How. No Way.

I could have sworn someone necroposted a thread from 1997... nope!

Gearbox is still the editor... pod farm is just a plugin available for use. you cant use pod farm for what you used gearbox for.

No.

you probably need updated drivers for your usb or chipset... i have used an app like slim drivers (google it) to find and update the drivers in the past and it's always helped.
-
only alternative to the USB Variax interface is a XT Live, or X3 Live (or pro) pod. trying anything else will likely damage the variax.
i don't believe that the older models came with the interface... it was a 100$ addon.... the James tyler variaxes (59,69,89) did come with it.

you need gearbox: https://line6.com/software/
make sure you tell it you have windows 7 (the last officially supported operating system)
works fine in windows 10.

jitter... you basically have something else on your machine interrupting the usb stream.
you might try removing other usb devices... or updating the chipset drivers for your system
ive found a utility like slim drivers (google it) can help find and update these unknown corners of your operating system.

The correct power supply is very important the output is AC not DC like most aftermarket power supplies that could damage the guitar.
What you need is a Line6 px2 power supply.

the FBV control only changes what it controls on your computer... pod farm etc....
the express pedals cannot bank, or loop (i have not verified on spider V, but could not on previous spiders)
you need the shortboard MKII or FBV3
you can likely find the shortboard used for about the price of the express....
but yes.... there is a reason it costs more than the express.. and you've found a couple of them.
I've got the same problem and apparently the FBV Mk II Express cannot control either the 'Bank' control on the Spider V 60, or the Looper functions, even though the 'Line 6 FBV Control' application hapilly allows you to assign both of these functions to the buttons on the FBV. Why have Line 6 stopped these functions working with the Spider V ?
GAKs only suggestion was to buy the FBV3 pedal which is well over double the price and much larger, both of which I don't want; or to buy a dedicated looper pedal which would mean I lose wireless to the guitar (for me THE main feature) and also need an extra power supply.
The main reason I bought this amp was the wireless guitar connection and the floor based looper so sadly, as I'm loving the sounds, it's all going to be returned.
Also, the amp totally failed 2 days ago and stopped giving any guitar sound :( :(

they all have a license for pod farm version 1.... version 2 is different. try version 1 if you dont want to spend the money on the upgrade.

same organization as before except when you select reverbs for example you will now see
MONO
STEREO
LEGACY
your selection will produce relevant results.
Does anyone know, will the legacy effects all be under one category or will there be like Legacy distortion, Legacy Modulation, etc. I'm hoping for the latter.
-
you can see mono stereo details for the M series effects here:
http://line6.com/support/index.php?app=core&module=attach§ion=attach&attach_id=474
I see. So either it will be trial & error to know which of each model is mono, or stereo.
OR...
I can just hope each model will have some sort of label, or icon stating mono, or stereo.
I appreciate the responses on the matter. Thank you for that.- 1

Legacy is legacy... no sub categories for mono/stereo they didn't exist in those categories in the M-Series, we just knew some things were stereo and most weren't....
Thanks for the info, I assume there is a mono, and a stereo folder under legacy that houses these. Like it is now, but just under the legacy section?
-
existing reverbs moved to legacy area.... but it wont affect your current patches.
Are the Legacy Effects all new or have some of the existing Reverbs and Delays moved to the Legacy Category?

you'll forget about the money soon enough... the full floor has everything you mentioned.... adds future possibilities and a more robust build.
worth it.
