  1. don't think you need monkey with the pod pro... to work with tones, you likely need either line6 edit or gearbox.

I just bought a used Pod Pro, and I have downloaded some great tones by title. I have downloaded monkey but it seems that the pull down menu has every line 6 product but the Pod Pro. I have registered it with line 6 and I cant seem to get what I need in Monkey to update the unit much less get these custom tones on it. I may burn it and go back to my boss floor board for my recording needs. Am I doing something wrong here possibly??? Also, i don't have cheap midi cables.

    cheers

  2. doubtful... and messy... because the variax interface doesnt carry audio so you'd still need a separate interface and a 1/4" also coming from variax.

Perhaps you could answer this? Will there be a way to control the Variax without the Helix via native? Ie the standard dongle that comes with the JTV?

  3. i do this in a number of ways when recording... as i suggested with guitar tracks...

but i also use drum plugins like toontrack to change drum kits etc... after recording (via midi kit)

but yeah... great way to change the whole song up without performing again.

and you can record both the wet and dry tracks to different armed tracks....

    which gives you a reference

Wow, I never thought of that.  Recording a dry track and then having the power of Helix to shape the exact sound I want is a great tool.  I imagine I can even make changes throughout the recording by bringing in different effects and different settings?

  4. the big thing you're missing, is that you can record the dry tracks and reprocess the entire thing through a while different setup in software....

you can use a dry track and a pair of headphones to create tones from your living room that you can transfer to your helix for live use....

you can also use any of the effects elsewhere in your recording at relative ease... add compression or reverb to the odd track....

but yes.. pretty much what you said at the end of your post. :)

  5. it's still there :http://line6.com/software/readeula.html?rid=3121

its just never been tested for newer windows etc... so you have to select an older version of windows from the drop down menus...

    still works fine though....

I know this post is old, but I changed my laptop and I need something like gearbox, which I can't find, because they took it off their website. I use windows.

If any of you know how to find gearbox or a good alternative please let me know

  6. more amps... within a more cluttered interface... just make it more frustrating and confusing.... the right few amps=more time to play....

seriously... try not to get to overwhelmed with the technology stuff.... it will hurt/limit/slow your playing!

  7. yes, compatible.... just limited to preset selection within a single bank..... can't change banks, and can't control individual effects on/off or anything else that the shortboard is capable of.

    Hi !

I understant that FBV Shortboard is the best board available and perfectly compatible with Rack Unit Line6 POD HD PRO X.

But, after all, what about FBV Express MKII ? Is it not fully compatible ?

  8. you have to buy the model packs to get the rest. none of the tone ports come with everything unlocked.

however... you may only be getting the trial version if you have pod farm 2 installed... pod farm 2 is not a free upgrade either...

try installing pod farm version 1.x if thats the case and you will get the full standard set of amps and effects.

  9. no problem, you can install on up to 4 devices from one purchase. you're fine. nothing to buy.

(unless you want the other packs....)

Hi guys, hopefully someone may be able to help?

I have an HD500 with the metal add on pack installed which I use for recording, but I want to buy a 2nd unit for playing live as I'd rather my recording unit stayed at home full time as I use it daily for playing and recording.

So my question is, do I have to buy another download of the HD model pack or am I permitted to install on a 2nd HD500?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me on this!

  10. you have to be on the device/computer to deactivate yourself... however... if needed line6 support can deactivate for you if you no longer have access... such as change jobs, computer crashes, etc

Okay then, I assume then, if I wanted to de-activate my license for my school account I could do that from my home computer Line 6 License manager right, if I ever I left my job for a different school?

(apologies for the neurotic questions, I don't have much experience with the license manager haha)

The plugging the iLok USB thing doesn't sound too much of a hassle, but I guess it's better for more than 4 devices, whilst in my case I'm only using 2 devices (my home computer and my school login)

  11. yes, you can run the license manager, and setup an active license on 4 devices or computers at one time... you can also deactive a license and activate on a different machine at any time.

the ilok requires a usb port

and the ilok cannot use model packs! its either standard or platinum....

the main reason of course is explained above... you have to move the ilok device and plug it into a single computer at a time....

the pod farm license does not support the ilok computer authorization license.

Okay, so if I buy the standard version, just run the license manager on the time I use it on a computer and then I'll be good?

Can I ask, why exactly don't I want/need the iLok version?
