    oh yeah, that's a common "hack" :)
  2. TheRealZap's post in Transfering model packs from POD XT Live to Toneport? was marked as the answer
you dont need to transfer anything... just download monkey and use the license manager to authorize your other devices... (you can have up to 4 authorized)
  3. TheRealZap's post in POD Studio GX and POD Farm iLok license was marked as the answer
typically the ilok license is its own thing...

    you need model packs....

you can try calling and asking them to accomodate you: http://line6.com/company/contact/
not a sure thing... but maybe worth asking...
    good luck.
  4. TheRealZap's post in midi controller search was marked as the answer
i personally use and love my m-audio axioms. i have the 25 and the 61.

you'll likely have a lot of setup no matter which one you choose...
that's just the nature of the beast.. some units have downloadable templates from the manufacturer, and some will have community provided templates...
that can sometimes help... but don't count on it.. may not fit your needs.
  5. TheRealZap's post in Output mode setting changing after power down was marked as the answer
the setting will be saved if you hit save after you change the setting on the L2
however if you power it off, you may need to change from one tome on the pod back to the tone in which the output setting is saved....
    this should recall the setting...
  6. TheRealZap's post in Stagescape Version 2 planned? was marked as the answer
they do post.... rarely... and they NEVER post about what they are working on....
so threads like this are always just other users speculating...
they will not give you an answer here...
    having said all that...
i'm positive that they are not done with stagescape etc...
surely more to come... and they would probably tell you as much...
    but nothing specific.

  7. TheRealZap's post in How is the Guitar In-Z supposed to be set? was marked as the answer
you do not set the input z based on the guitar you have...
input z is affected by the first effect in your chain....
set to AUTO the input z will use the authentic input z of the modeled pedal...
some people don't like to have their tone affected in this way, and prefer a static setting.....
this feature was not available in earlier firmwares... and the default then was 1m
so this feature allowed those users to revert the setting back to 1m so as to not change the tones that they made....
i personally would recommend the AUTO setting...
as i want to learn the nuances and work within the confines of the actual pedals being modeled...
but it is YOUR tone... so use whatever setting that pleases you... there really isn't a "RIGHT" setting...
and the guitar you use... does not matter in regards to this setting.
  8. TheRealZap's post in Can you update firmware for recently bought used equipment? was marked as the answer
yes, as long as you have access to a FBV MKII shortboard or express.

  9. TheRealZap's post in Rubber plugs for bean POD stand? was marked as the answer
wouldn't be that hard to just get some right size bolts... then slip little bits of rubber hose on the protruding parts really...
probably less than 10 bucks and you could experiment with the size and get a nice snug, secure fit.
  10. TheRealZap's post in Help connecting SPIDF from HD pro to Focusrite 6i6 was marked as the answer
perhaps your interface has some limitations or settings that it's looking for.
I've used the SPDIF on mine without issue. I actually used it to transfer the dry sound (for future processing), and also captured the wet via analog.
so that i would have both...
anyway there are some spdif setting in the pod that you can change regarding sample rate etc...
try cycling through those, maybe you'll find one that syncs up and works... not familiar enough with your interface to be more specific.
  11. TheRealZap's post in Vetta II 2.03 and 2.5 firmware download was marked as the answer
    from the support manager:

the number of times we’ve seen units become inoperable because of a break in the data stream during the installation of the Vetta firmware, we feel it is best to remove the update from our website. Any circumstances that require the firmware to be reinstalled should be referred to our support staff via support ticket or phone call. Our team can be contacted at www.Line6.com/support.

have you made sure the volume is up and that a standard 1/4" jack is plugged into the guitar as well?

  14. TheRealZap's post in POD FARM 2.5 platinum (only runs in trial mode) was marked as the answer
probably need to logout of the license manager and make sure that you log in with the same account.

everything looks correct except the license manager does not show the addons.
either you've logged in with a different account than you made the purchase on, or something could be wrong on the line6 backend.

also you are using an older version of the license manager... 1.01
    try version 1.07 from here:
    http://line6.com/software/readeula.html?rid=5666

also be a good idea to make sure you are using the latest pod farm 2,57 as well here:

  15. TheRealZap's post in Ux2 - No Output Sound was marked as the answer
that's not how it is supposed to work...
from your description it's running correctly...

for best quality you want the same hardware controlling both the input and output...
this controls latency and avoids potential digital artifacts...

you can do what your asking if you don't mind the quality tradeoff....
    it's of course, unsupported...
but look up aggregate audio devices on the mac...

it's not advisable, or preferable... but some people just want to do it anyway...

  16. TheRealZap's post in DSP Chip Upgrade. was marked as the answer
positive that it can't be done without a very specialized machine that they use in the factory...
    just get a 500x if you want a 500x
  17. TheRealZap's post in Signal routing (POD USB + multiple cards) was marked as the answer
Sound quality, latency, additional digital to analog conversions, possible noise introduced by cables or lower quality sound cards in the signal path.
    A few quick examples.
It's really not worth it to avoid an occasional volume adjustment IMO
  18. TheRealZap's post in Variax 700 with hd 500x and workbench was marked as the answer
the original workbench software will not work with the hd500x or hd pro-x
    sorry....
you'll need an older pod. (the hd500 does work, and everything older)
  19. TheRealZap's post in Help! Get Nothing But Line 6 Logo On My Hd500 Screen. was marked as the answer
hold the left direction while plugging in, this should make the logo loop stop.
it resets your global settings, so you may need to review those after doing it.
  20. TheRealZap's post in Does Toplogy Matter When Using A Hd500x With Dt? was marked as the answer
they decoupled the reverb to a degree with the pod/dt combo... in part to give you more available DSP on the pod... because you can do that entirely on the DT.

just FYI though... all the models in the pod etc... are based on specific cabs... there is no model that has a "no cab" default...
if you like what you're hearing... great....
but if you're AC30 doesn't sound like an AC30... that's probably why (or whatever model....)

the topology will matter... although its not really topology in that instance anymore (topology is basically standalone terminology)
when used with the pod pre's it's basically how you want the REAL power amp to work... (when using the pre's the power amp is NOT modeled)
switch to the various default pre's in a blank patch and watch the topo light change...
you'll notice that certain amp tones are built on certain power amp configurations....
you can stick with the defaults or change it to build a custom tone.
  21. TheRealZap's post in Assigning Foot Switches For Individual Patches? was marked as the answer
make sure that you are in ABCD mode on the footswitches in the setup menu.
should be easy to switch tones.
  22. TheRealZap's post in Fbv Shortboard Mkii - Tone Customization/presets Edited was marked as the answer
No, you cannot edit or interface with a computer in any way with the spider III amps.. you need a spider IV for that.
  23. TheRealZap's post in Pod Hd Pro - Recording With The Dry Output. was marked as the answer
for simplicities sake i'd just plug the regular 1/4" outs into the other interface.
just much easier to deal with a single interface.
you could do it the other way but then you'd have to move your outputs too... not worth the hassle in my opinion.
  24. TheRealZap's post in Reverting To A Saved Preset? - Pod Hd Desktop was marked as the answer
as long as you've never hit the save button... move to another preset and then back and it will restore the original settings...
there is no way back if you hit save... computer or not... unless you saved it as a file.
  25. TheRealZap's post in Pod Xt To Pod X3 On Pc was marked as the answer
should be as simple as plugging it in, as long as your current with the drivers and gearbox, then you're all set.
