yes, the mobile amp uses the models from the pod 2.0 not the HD

you have to go to the license manager (its part of monkey and in the same folder in your start menu)
and authorize the DI-G.
gearbox is long unsupported, but pod farm (version 1) should have no issues.

you can do any tuning you like... the 89 comes with different tunings out of the box, but it can do them all.

I don't think that the dry out works with the variax, because the variax is a digital input and the dry out is an analogue bypass out... (no analog in, no analog out)
there is no extra internal D/A conversion available to convert the variax to analog.

Not really... if you turn off delay within the same patch they stay... but if you change patches... no dice, unless you are using the fx loop you suggested.

you don't have a pod farm 2 license... install pod farm 1. (that's the license it sees)

no... XLR is only mono analogue... L6LINK is digital stereo (among other things,.)
 

you have to enable multitrack recording in garageband first, its off by default.

then you need to select the mono input on the instrument screen (to the right of your multitracks)

 
do this for 2 tracks and set the input as appropriate arm them and have at it.

you can't open an x3/xt bundle without having an x3/xt attached... unlike the newer pod hd software, gearbox and line6 edit do not have an offline mode.

pretty sure you can just bind the expression pedal to the channel volume... make sweep for amp 1= 1-100 and amp 2=100-1
 
(or whatever min/max volumes you wish really)

you cannot import from the x3
it has 1 bass amp and cab currently, but many presets for bass.
the looper does not need tap tempo, it has no rythym components or quantizing etc...
no, one looper not multiple channels etc.

the DT50 will set the output mode automatically when using L6LINK... so the mode depends on whether you have the combo or the head.

I'm fairly confident that you are correct, but can't seem to locate any document to point you to.

you need to update your variax first thing... the issue you are experiencing may have already been addressed.....

you won't be able to use one of the custom banks after updating, it should have a model of the 89 pickups.

well pod farm 1 is generally free with the x3... in some cases later pod farm 2 was included.... if you bought it used, more than likely pod farm 1 is the only license.
 
i'm confirming very plainly though... that the standalone pod farm (1 or 2) is 100% not included with the x3... forget about it it won't work unless you bought a pod farm license independent of the x3.
 
there is only one installer... that installs both the standalone and the plugin... they will only work if you have a license, even though they are both installed.
 
download and run pod farm 1... it will likely work and unlock all the models with the x3 as a plugin. that would probably solve most of your confusion.

I do not believe that the CD input would be relayed to the L6Link so it probably would not work for you.
The microphone might.. but i'd suspect it wouldn't work well.
