  1. phil_m's post in Noise in effects loop with analog stomp boxes, even when bypassed? was marked as the answer
If you have the trails parameter turned on in the setup menu, that effects return stays on even when the effects loop block is bypassed. That why the noise is there even with the block off.
  2. phil_m's post in POD HD500 versus HD ProX - balanced XLR output question... was marked as the answer
The XLR outs on the HD500 are mic level only. On the HD Pro X they can be switched from mic to line, so, yeah, it will do what you're wanting. If you want line level on the HD500, you need to use the 1/4" outs.
  3. phil_m's post in How to connect the VDI Cable (the one with round plugs!) to the USB Interface? was marked as the answer
After further review, it does appear that they have started shipping the interface with just a regular ethernet cable now (well, perhaps an ethernet with larger clips). All the warnings you mentioned reading above are correct. You have to be very careful with the connection into the guitar with a non-ethercon end.

If you own a POD with a VDI port, it kind of becomes a moot point because you could just use the actual VDI cable with the POD and not worry about the interface.
  4. phil_m's post in Restart internal clock's cycle with MIDI/Footswitch was marked as the answer
On the M13, if you hit the tap tempo button once, it restarts the LFO for the modulation effect you're using. I believe that works on the HD500 as well. So I guess what I'm saying is that I think it might already work like you're wanting it to. You just have to be careful to only hit the tap tempo button once.
  5. phil_m's post in HD500X Midi interface? was marked as the answer
In short, yes. The HD500X doesn't have any capabilities as a MIDI interface. The MIDI ports aren't seen by the drivers.
  6. phil_m's post in Can the M9 send MIDI program changes? was marked as the answer
Whenever you select a scene on the M9, it sends the PC# associated with that scene, so I think you'd be able to do what you're talking about.
  7. phil_m's post in What is the JTV-89F nut width? was marked as the answer
Here it says 42.9mm. The closest standard Floyd Rose nut width to that is 42.85mm, or 1.6875". So I'd say that's what it is.
  8. phil_m's post in Multiple Parings? was marked as the answer
The amp can be paired to as many compatible devices as you want it to. Like you said, though, you can only really use one at a time. I don't know for sure what would happen if you had two devices on at the same time. I imagine that whatever one you were paired with first would stay connected, and that you simply wouldn't be able to pair the second one to the amp until you unpaired or powered down the first one.
  9. phil_m's post in Two Delay Settings in One Slot? was marked as the answer
The Stereo Delay model will let you have a different delay time for each side, but those are in parallel opposed to series, so it will sound different. But, really, I think all you need to do is assign both delays to the same footswitch. That will allow you to turn them on and off with one switch. And actually, if you wanted to, you could control your overdrive with that same footswitch as well. You can assign as many effects to one footswitch as you want.
  10. phil_m's post in Arrggghh was marked as the answer
Any of the stomp, mod, filter, or delay blocks can be changed to any effect type you want. When you hit the block to go into the effect editing screen, if you hit the icon in the upper right corner of that, it will take you back to the menu that lets you select the specific effect you want. In that menu, up in the upper right corner, it says "Type". If you hit that, it lets you choose what category of effect you want that effect to be.
  11. phil_m's post in Turning off FX in chain disables all volume - normal? was marked as the answer
I'm wondering if this could possibly have something to do with the speakers. Specifically, I'm wondering if your woofer isn't working. The output from the mod and delay effects is sent to the other speakers, but not the woofer. So perhaps your woofer isn't working and just aren't realizing it?

One way to test this would be to try the headphone out and see if you notice the signal cutting out when you turn the effects off.
  12. phil_m's post in Drum Machine into Aux In HD500X was marked as the answer
If you want to use the Aux In, you'd have to have both tone paths separated in your patch as well as having the inputs set up correctly. It may be easier to just use the MP3 in.
  13. phil_m's post in Unable to get sound to cabinet with hd500x and spider ii 112 as power amp was marked as the answer
In that thread, the guy said he was connecting his cabinet to the Spider's speaker output. That would work. I don't know if the Spider has a 1/4" jack for the speaker connection or if it's hardwired. From the pictures I've seen, I can't tell. If it's 1/4" jack, you should be able to just take a speaker cable from the jack to your speaker cabinet. Obviously if you do this, the speaker in the combo will be disabled.
  14. phil_m's post in AC Flanger Mix Control was marked as the answer
I don't believe there is a mix control for that effect in actuality. The one that's shown in Edit is probably a copy and paste error from another effect. I think if you look on the HD itself, there won't be any mix parameter. I know on the M13, this effect has no mix control.
  15. phil_m's post in POD HD 500 Midi was marked as the answer
The HD500 can't be used as a MIDI interface. The MIDI jacks are solely there so it can be controlled or control other outboard gear.
  16. phil_m's post in chaining M9 power supply to Relay G30 was marked as the answer
No, they use different voltages. The M9 power supply is 9V AC, and the G30 needs 9V DC.
  17. phil_m's post in FBV4 Silver & Black 4 Channel Pedal was marked as the answer
    Yes, it will work.
  18. phil_m's post in HD500X as a midi-in interface? was marked as the answer
The MIDI jacks aren't seen by the driver, so there's no way to use the HD500X as a MIDI interface for another device like you're describing.
  19. phil_m's post in Disable EXP2 altogether was marked as the answer
I guess I'm having a hard time seeing why this is a problem. You just need to assign the wah to be controlled by EXP2 and don't assign anything to EXP1, and it will do the same thing that you're wanting.
  20. phil_m's post in M9 Firmware update - What is required??? was marked as the answer
If Monkey recognizes your M9, then it might be worthwhile to try sending the update with only the cable from the interface's MIDI out to the M9's MIDI in connected. You don't really need the cable from the M9's MIDI out to the interface's MIDI in to do the update. You could also try doing the update manually outside of Monkey using one of the SysEx players. I like Bome's SendSx: http://www.bome.com/products/sendsx
  21. phil_m's post in Hooking HD Pro with an external Midi Foot Controller? was marked as the answer
The tuner is turned on when the HD Pro receives a command on CC#69 with a value between 0 and 63. It's turned off when it receives a command on CC#69 with a value between 64 and 127. On the FCB4N2 (I have that pedal, too, btw), you can program up to 4 PC and 8 CCs to each footswitch. So if you want to have the tuner turn off when you hit one of the other switches, you'll have to program the CC#69 with a value of higher than 64 in it to each one as well as having the PC programmed.
  22. phil_m's post in Are footswitches better in HD500X? was marked as the answer
Well, it's a different plunger mechanism from what I understand, and it is being marketed as being more robust. As to what that means, I can't say exactly. I can't say I've seen anyone complaining about the switches on a HD500X failing, but I do see people having issues with the HD500 switches every now and then. But, of course, the HD500 is an older product with a broader user base at this point, too.
  23. phil_m's post in JTV Workbench (v1.9) model positions inconsistent was marked as the answer
Those are actually correct. Positions 3 and 5 in the Special bank are a different guitar than Position 1 (actually a Les Paul Junior only has one pickup - the bridge, so there wouldn't be anything else to model for the other positions). It's the same thing with the Tele. There's three different guitars in that bank.

  24. phil_m's post in Thinking of buying preowned (possibly already registered FBV Shortboard MkII was marked as the answer
The previous owner can and should de-register it when he sells it to you. It's not a big deal at all. As far as using it to do the update, you don't even have to have it registered for it to connect to Monkey and do the update. That's the case with all Line 6 products. Firmware updates are never dependent on the product being registered. Monkey will ask you if you want to register, but you can say no and move on.
  25. phil_m's post in Need App To Adjust Presets? was marked as the answer
