  1. phil_m's post in 2.10 Firmware : Workbench Hd Functionality When Connected To Pod Hd500, Pod Hd Pro, Pod Hd500x, Pod Hd Pro X was marked as the answer
It means you can access Workbench HD through and of the POD HD devices with a VDI interface. Before the only way to access WB HD was through the USB dongle. It doesn't affect anything in the HD500 itself.
  2. phil_m's post in Changing Machine Heads On Jtv59 To Locking - Problem was marked as the answer
It's not all that uncommon. I found a few videos showing a few methods just with a quick search. There are a few different ways to go about it with larger screws, but with a small screw like this, you're probably looking at something like this:

  3. phil_m's post in Fbv Shortboard W/hd Pro was marked as the answer
It sounds like you have the HD Pro in "FS 5-8" mode rather than "ABCD" mode. If you want to be able to switch presets immediately, you'll want to be in "ABCD" mode. This can be selected on Page 1 of the Setup menu.
  4. phil_m's post in Hd500 - Is There A Way To Save Custom Default Effect Settings? was marked as the answer
No, there isn't a way to do either... I wish there were, though.

The one thing you can do is an existing preset as the starting point for a new one by copying and pasting it from one location to another.
  5. phil_m's post in X3 Live Pod Farm 1 was marked as the answer
The license you get with the X3 is for the plug-in only, not for the standalone version. As far as getting the plug-in to show up in Ableton, I'm not sure how you do it, but most DAW will either search for plug-ins automatically, or you can manually load them if that doesn't work.
  6. phil_m's post in Jtv 69 Shoreline Gold? was marked as the answer
Is it a 69 or a 69S? Shoreline Gold is one of the finish choices for the Korean 69S, but it's not available for the Korean 69. It is available for the US 69, though.

I do see what you mean, though, about it not showing up on the website. I don't think they discontinued that finish for the 69S, but I'm not sure. It looks like it's still available at retailers.

    Yes, that's normal.
  8. phil_m's post in M13 And Pedaltrain Powertrain 1250 Possible? was marked as the answer
To put a finer point on the earlier comment, the M13's power supply, the PX-2, is rated at 2000mA, and the M13 seems to consistently draw around 1300mA. The overall rating of the Powertrain is only 1250mA. More importantly, the M13 only runs on 9V AC power, not DC. So no dice on using this with the M13.
  9. phil_m's post in Older Firmware Or Newest Firmware? M9 was marked as the answer
The latest one is all you need.
  10. phil_m's post in Adjusting The Bending Of The Strings On A Jtv-59 was marked as the answer
Well, the JTV59 comes strung with 10's. The Elixir Super Lights are 9's, so yeah, 10's are generally a little harder to bend.
  11. phil_m's post in Custom "funny" Alternate Tuning For 12 Strings Models was marked as the answer
You can have alternate tuning on 12-string models, and you can make any model a 12-string by turning on parallel pitch in Workbench, but you can't have the octave string be another note than the base string. You can adjust the octave string's pitch by a semitone in either way by changing the "cents" parameter, but that's really there for fine tuning purposes. So you won't be able to have the 3rd and 4th strings play completely different notes like you want.
  12. phil_m's post in Pod Hd Pro X Vs Pod Hd 500x was marked as the answer
They're both using the same processors and as far as I know, the same converters, so, no, there wouldn't be any difference. The difference between the two is simply in form factor and output options (the Pro X gives you a few more output options than the 500X).
  13. phil_m's post in 'output' Mode was marked as the answer
No, you can't. Output mode is a global setting.
  14. phil_m's post in Workbench Hd : Does It Come With Jtv59 Or Is It Sold Separate? was marked as the answer
Workbench HD is free software. To connect to it, you need the VDI interface. This comes with the JTV along with a short VDI cable. So you'll have everything you need to connect to and use Workbench HD when you buy a JTV.
  15. phil_m's post in Pod Gx With Cab/pa? was marked as the answer
You know, I was thinking that the GX had 1/4" outputs similar to the UX-1 and UX-2. I forgot that it only had that 1/8" stereo out. But it doesn't change that much. You would have to get an adapter to go from that to dual 1/4". If you wanted to run both to the board you could, or you could just do one. And, yes, by direct box I do mean a DI.

You could try going into amp and cab if the amp head has an effects return. You could try taking a 1/4" cable into that (again, you'd have to get the correct adapter to go from the 1/8" out). If you do that, you'd probably want to try disabling the cab model in POD Farm. You might get that to sound OK, but I think the PA would probably sound better. The PA would also be easier in the sense that you wouldn't have to necessarily change anything with your existing tones to have them sound right through the PA.
  16. phil_m's post in What Is The Longest Time I Can Use A Dt50? 6 Hours Max? was marked as the answer
Well, that's the thing, when these amps are tested, they're tested I imagine for running for very long periods of time - probably days, if not weeks. The solders, transformers, and other electrical are designed for continuous use. The thing that degrades electrical components is heat, and the components in the DT50 are designed to withstand the heat the amp produces for an indefinite time period. What happens with electrical equipment is that it warms up to a certain temperature, and then basically stays at that steady-state temperature until turn it off. There may some fluctuation in temperature based on how loud you're playing the amp, but it's probably not all that much.

Basically what I'm saying is that I wouldn't worried about playing the amp too much. It was designed to be played through. As long as you do the common sense things like use the standby switch when turning it on, avoiding turning the amp on as soon as you bring it in from a cold environment, and other typical tube amp care things, I don't think it's something you should really be worried about.
  17. phil_m's post in Cumulative Firmware Patch Pod Hd 500 ? was marked as the answer
Yes, you only need to install the latest version. Essentially, all firmware updates totally re-write the eprom chip, so the update contains everything from previous updates.
  18. phil_m's post in Load M13 Scenes Into M9, Not Working … Can It Be Done?... was marked as the answer
The files aren't compatible between the two devices. You'll just just have to re-create each scene from the M13 as best as possible. Of course, you only have three effects slots in the M9 compared to 4 in the M13, so you may not be able to do everything with the M9 that you were doing with the M13.
  19. phil_m's post in M13 Update Problem (please Help!) was marked as the answer
That looks like one of the inexpensive, generic USB to MIDI adapters in that video. Unfortunately, those types of adapters have a very spotty track record as far as people having success with them in getting the update to go through. The big problem with them seems to be that they use the default Windows drivers, and those drivers simply don't have very tight specs when it comes to things like data transfer rates. This is why Line 6 recommends a higher quality adapter like the M-Audio Uno. It's more expensive, yes, but the success rate with those is near 100%.
  20. phil_m's post in Old Vs New M13? was marked as the answer
    1. You need to update the firmware. 2.04 is the current and latest version of the firmware. It will add a bunch of new effects, including Particle Verb, and it gives you 36 more scenes. The update instructions can be found here: http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/effects/m5-m9-m13/m13-firmware-update-instructions-r364

    2. I don't know, but the color quality of LEDs can vary pretty significantly from batch to batch, especially the lower cost LEDs used in electronics like these. I wouldn't worry about it too much.
  21. phil_m's post in Account Info Wiped? was marked as the answer
Are you sure you're using the same account? I know it may sound like a dumb question, but I think quite a few people use different accounts to register their gear and to put posts up here.
  22. phil_m's post in Any Idea When Workbench Hd Strat Bug Will Be Fixed? was marked as the answer
You should be alright as long as you don't try to save the Spank model back to JTV. So I'd only upload the models you want to work on rather than hit "Upload all". If you do want to mess with the Spank model, all you have to do is swap the positions of the neck and bridge pickups. I actually think that all three pickups on the Spank are identical, so if that's the case, you're not really losing anything compared to the factory model by doing that.
  23. phil_m's post in Tremlo Bar Fell Out was marked as the answer
The trem bar actually screws in. It does seem upon first looking at it that it just pushes in, but there are threads at the bottom of it, and it screws in similar to a typical Strat trem bar.
  24. phil_m's post in Dt50 212 Direct Out Recording was marked as the answer
The direct out on the DT50 has cab and mic modeling applied by default, so using an IR cab may give you some weird sounding results. If you've installed the 2.0 firmware update, you can turn that off by sending the appropriate MIDI CC message to the DT50, though.
  25. phil_m's post in Hd500 Amp Pre Vs. Full Models was marked as the answer
So I think what you're experiencing might have something to do with how the POD handles a single input with a dual tone. If you just using Tone A set to Variax, Tone B is essentially being muted if you have it set to Guitar. So that signal comes and when it hits the split, it essentially gets halved with one side going to the amp model in Path A and the other in Path B. So the signal going to the Pre model is attenuated versus what you're sending to the DT25 when you switch the amp in Tone A off. Try setting Input 2 to "Same" and see if the sounds are any closer. It should give you a hotter signal going into the Pre model. It will increase the signal going into Path B as well now that I think of it, but there may be no way around it.

Essentially, even though the preamp models in the HD500 and DT25 are the same, the signal paths going to and from them can be made to be different. I think you may have stumbled onto one of those times where this becomes apparent.
