  1. phil_m's post in Can't Update M13 Due To Monkey Issues was marked as the answer
For whatever reason, Line 6 never implemented Monkey support for the M13. You have to install updates with a third party sysex player.

2.04 is the latest firmware version, though, so you shouldn't have to worry about doing anything at the present time.
  2. phil_m's post in What String Gauge Shipped On Jtv69s was marked as the answer
All the JTVs come strung with D'Addario 10-46 from the factory. I believe they are the EXL110 set, if you want to get specific about it.
  3. phil_m's post in Can I Use An Electro Harmonix Expression Pedal With Any Of The Hd 500's Inputs? was marked as the answer
The EHX pedal won't work with Line 6 devices. Line 6 uses a different sort of configuration for their expression pedals - that's why you only need a TS cable to connect the EX-1 to the HD500.  In pedals that use TRS cables to connect to expression pedals, the value of the potentiometer isn't important. For Line 6 products it's critical. I know the EHX pedal isn't using an actual pot, but it still work by varying the impedance between the tip and ring channels of the cable.
  4. phil_m's post in Hd500x Volume Changes My Gain was marked as the answer
You could either move the volume pedal effect to somewhere after the amp model, or you could try controlling the channel volume parameter in the amp model with the expression pedal.

But I should ask, how are you listening to the HD500X? Are you plugged into an amp, or are you just listening through headphones?
  5. phil_m's post in Hd500x Volume Drop Issue was marked as the answer
This is by design. The XLR outputs are at mic level since it's assumed people will plugging them into a channel strip with a preamp. The 1/4" outs are at line level, assuming you have the amp/line switch set to line.
  6. phil_m's post in U.s. Jtv was marked as the answer
Yes, it is... And you can get a maple neck on the 69 in the US version as well (you can get a maple neck Korean 69S, as, though). Hardware-wise, there's not a whole lot of difference, although the US version does come with HipShot locking tuners. To me, the US version just seems a bit more solid all-around than the Korean version. Mine came set up perfect from the get-go, too.
  7. phil_m's post in M5 Rack Question was marked as the answer
It behaves the way you want it to. If you power it off with an effect engaged, it will be the way you left it when you power it back up again.
  8. phil_m's post in Battle Of The Quacks was marked as the answer
Well, it's been over 24 hours now, so I guess I'll reveal what's what.

Quack1 is the Variax, and Quack2 is the American Standard Strat. More people ended being wrong than right in the poll, so I guess kudos to Line 6 here.

There is actually a giveaway in the tracks if you listen close enough. On the real Strat track you can hear the hum from the middle pickup kick in when I slide the 5-way switch past it. In the Variax track it's quiet through the change.

Do you have a cord plugged into the 1/4" jack and have the guitar's volume knob turned up?
  10. phil_m's post in Line 6 User Forums Are Not For Users was marked as the answer
Line 6 switched over to new forum software a number of months ago, and in doing so had to orphan the old forums. Those forums, however, still appear in Google searches, and they are still viewable in read-only format. But they are no longer active, so that's why you can't reply to those posts.
  11. phil_m's post in Pod Hd500 And M13 Sync With External Cc Via Midi Problem was marked as the answer
You would have to pick up a device like this to filter out the messages you don't want getting through. I have one, and it works great. They have a little software utility that you can use to program it, and as long you understand the basics of MIDI, it's not too hard.
  12. phil_m's post in New 2013 Jtv's Issues Fixed? was marked as the answer
The switching issue on the 59 was dealt with quite a while ago - like in 2011.

The neck on the 69 was kind of trickier. They have changed the slope of bevel on the frets, I believe, but the neck is still somewhat narrow, and there are some people who seem to be really bothered by it. But anyway, Line 6 did change that spec on the neck. It's not a huge change, though.
  13. phil_m's post in Storing Two Independent Patches In One Fs And Controling With Exp Pedal was marked as the answer
You can still do it, but setting it up would be a little different. You need to assign the channel volume parameter in both of you amp blocks to be controlled by the expression pedal. You would just have them set opposite one another. So when one volume is at 100%, the other would be 0% and vice versa. As long as you have the pan in the mixer block set to center for each tone, you can keep the tone stereo as well.
  14. phil_m's post in Dotted 8th Settings? was marked as the answer
On the delay that you have set to the dotted 1/8th, you'd want a relatively high mix and low feedback (I'm assuming you're after something like the classic Edge-like dotted eight sound). By relatively high for the mix, I mean around 55-60%. You essentially want the repeats almost the same volume as the dry signal. You don't want the repeats to hang along for long, though, so you probably don't want the feedback more than 30%. I like the digital delay with modulation for this delay.

For the quarter note delay, you'd want it almost the opposite - low mix and higher feedback. I'd say try the mix at 30% to start with. Than the feedback you can adjust to taste.
  15. phil_m's post in Can't Get Audio Through Usb On Pc was marked as the answer
You won't hear audio through your PC's speakers when you connect the HD500. The HD500 becomes your system's soundcard when you connect with USB. So if you want to hear the audio you either need to connect headphones to the HD500 or connect your speakers to the HD500's output(s) in some way.
  16. phil_m's post in Digital Recording With Dt25 & Hd500 Possible? was marked as the answer
    I believe that's correct.

But, really, trying to record the audio from the HD500's USB with the DT25 connect is kind of missing the point of using the DT25 with the HD500. The whole point of using the DT25 with the HD500 is to have the real interaction of the power tubes and speaker, You wouldn't be getting that with the HD500 USB output. Also, the output mode the HD500 uses for the DT25 isn't what you'd want to record with over USB.

So as far as recording goes, the choice you have it to either not use the DT25 and simply record direct with the HD500 and use full amp models. Or you can use the DT25 and mic it or use its XLR output. I'd mic it, personally.
  17. phil_m's post in Volume Pedal Level Hell: Hd500 was marked as the answer
I just tested it out on my HD500 using two patches with the volume pedal effect in them, and the patches always reflect the physical position of the pedal. In both patches I had the with a min of 0% and max of 100%. I moved the cursor over to the volume effect so I could see what percentage the parameter was being set to, and I set it to 55%. I then switched patches. I moved the cursor in the next patch to the volume effect, and the position was still at 55%, and there was no jump when I moved the pedal.

One thing comes to mind with your case, though. Are you connected to HD500 Edit when this happens? If so, that's probably why it's happening. Moving the expression pedals while connected to Edit seems to cause weird things to happen.
  18. phil_m's post in Use Podhd To Pan Two Acoustic Guitars. Can't Be Done Without Adding Amps?! was marked as the answer
Sure, it can be done. You just have to create a dual tone with Path 1 and 2 completely separated and hard panned at the mixer block. I'd start off with something like this. Just don't put anything in the amp blocks.

  19. phil_m's post in Power Profile For Hd500 was marked as the answer
When you look at portable battery packs, you'll see them rated in amp-hours, or AH. That will give you an idea of long they can power a certain load. I'll use this one as an example. It has a rating of 12 AH, and its terminal voltage is 12V DC.

    http://www.amazon.com/Duracell-DRPP300-Powerpack-Starter-Emergency/dp/B009YR00L4/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1374584969&sr=8-7&keywords=portable+battery+pack+duracell

The HD500 power supply is rated at 2500mA at 9V, so let's assume the HD500 actually runs at 80% of that. That means the HD500 consumes 18W. At 12V, the current drawn by the HD500 would be 1.5A. So 12AH/1.5A = 8 hours. So at you could expect about 8 hours from that battery pack. But even then, that's assuming a pretty linear performance of the battery. In real batteries don't necessarily perform that way, but that's how you could get an idea of your run time. It's also ignoring the fact that there's probably some internal losses inside a battery pack like that when you transform the voltage from 12V DC to 120V AC.
  20. phil_m's post in Line6 Jtv Ba12 Battery Charger Output Voltage/current/polarity was marked as the answer
It's 12V DC, 1000mA (that's what the adapter is rated, have no idea about the actual draw), center positive
  21. phil_m's post in Dt25 With Hd500 And Two Amp Models Selected was marked as the answer
The power amp setting on the DT-25 (topology, class, pentode/triode) defaults to match whatever amp you have in path A when you first select that amp, but they can be set to whatever you want them to be. If you put an amp model in path B, the power amp setting on the DT-25 won't match the amp you bring up (well it might not - you could use an amp model with similar defaults), but it's still being sent through the DT-25's power amp. So you're essentially blending two preamps signals to send through one power amp. You have to decide how you want the power amp configured.

If you want the DT-25 to completely ignore Path B, you'd have to set that in the L6 link settings page. Under the audio portion, you can select what you want sent to each DT-25 - it can be the left and right output (this is default), Amp A, Amp B, or Amp A/B. With just one DT-25, you're probably OK just leaving it left and right, but everything you put in the tone will show up at the DT-25.
  22. phil_m's post in Hd500 Looper Decay Like Dl4? was marked as the answer
This is the one difference between the HD500's looper and the DL4. It's kind of odd because the looper on the M9 and M13 behave like the DL4. The overdub parameter on those pedals controls how quickly the recorded loop fades out. On the HD500, the overdub parameter control the level that new overdubs are recorded at. I don't know why they didn't make them all behave in the same way. It's especially confusing when a parameter is labeled the same thing on different products, but it does different things on them.
  23. phil_m's post in Pod 2.0 Floorboard Trem/chorus Button Malfunction? was marked as the answer
Have you tried using a different Cat5 cable between the POD and the Floorboard? That would be the first thing I would check out. The symptoms you describe kind of fit that.
  24. phil_m's post in Can The M13 Send Midi Program Changes? was marked as the answer
Mostly correct... It uses PC #0 - 47 for the scenes.

There's a table on page A.2 of the Advanced Guide that says what PC#s are associated with what scenes.
  25. phil_m's post in Query: Mic Models In Hd500 was marked as the answer
As far as how they sound, I'd say if you search on Google under the different model names of the mics, you should be able to get some opinions. All the mics are pretty standard studio mics. If you want to add distance between the mic and the cab, this is what the E.R. (early reflections) parameter does. Setting it higher will moves the mic further from the cab, so you get more of the sound of the virtual room.
