  1. Hi, I keep saying that I will stop doing this, but here we go once again. There are only so many times I can be bothered to cut and paste this information in this forum before we run out of space. This is possibly the fourth time I have had to supply the same info in the last couple of weeks - it is now very, very tedious. Once more from the top! HX Edit cannot connect to a device in a failed state! Use the Line 6 Updater Utility and perform an offline update. Go here and follow the instructions to the letter, but bear in mind this is from an older post, therefore all references to version numbers must be the very latest available for the 3.71 firmware update. Hope this helps/makes sense. Also, when seeking assistance from other users, it’s a very big help to know exactly what computer and operating system you are using.
  2. Hi, It’s very rare that a firmware update would actuallly turn your Helix into a paperweight. It’s a computer (a very specialised computer, but that’s what it is) and software. To save me from lots more typing, and for the third time in the past couple of weeks, I will simply say - go here and follow the links that I have provided there. Follow the instructions and do not deviate from them and also during the update procedure do not let your Mac lose focus - i.e. if your cursor leaves the update window it may fail. Hope this helps/makes sense. Oh, yeah - don’t forget about the “Gatekeeper”!
  3. Hi, Ho Silver! I keep saying that I will stop doing this, but here we go once again. 4. Hi, You have encountered Apple’s over zealous “Gatekeeper”. It’s a total PITA - Override it! Here ya go! https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT202491 Hope this helps/makes sense.
  5. Hi, You still haven’t said how this is actually causing a problem with your 4 channel Helix setup, other than you have long cable runs from the 1/4” outs. Is your audio suffering from interference/hum? Unless you to have incredibly long leads going over/near lots of cables/devices that are electrically noisy then there’s no point in worrying about this. Plus, if you really do need to have the 1/4” jacks supply a balanced out to your mixer, simply stick a DI box on there to convert the jacks to XLR. These are very cheap and do the job. Here is a very simple solution: https://www.behringer.com/product.html?modelCode=P0176 Hope this helps makes sense.
  6. Hi, I have just re-read your original post and I really cannot comprehend why you have a problem with this? If you connect you Helix to “whatever” final output device, or monitoring system, does it work? Is this causing and audible issue, because if it is, you haven’t said how anyone else maybe able to reproduce this? Suffice to say AFAIK: +4db = Professional Line Level Standardised Equipment. -10db = Consumer Line Level Standardised Equipment. Have you considered that using a TRS jack would switch the auto impedance to use the balanced option and a TS would be unbalanced. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  7. Hey, mwrigor, about the HX Stomp request! Just thought I'd let you know - you're shouting into an empty room! There are no Line 6 staff here and only very occasionally do they visit these forums - (See the “sticky comment” in the black banner stripe at the top of this page entitled “Welcome to the Line 6 forums”). This link is where you need to go to have any hope of your suggestion being seen by anyone from Line 6: https://line6.ideascale.com/c/ Before posting any new ideas, please do a search to see if it's already been listed. Multiple requests for the same thing will thin out the votes. Also, post your ideas one at a time. Many users don’t vote for combined suggestions. Then you should use the “sticky thread” in this forum to let other users know what your suggestions are, with links to IdeaScale, so they can vote on it if they wish. Hope this helps/makes sense
  8. No - here's a link to the Tech21 Owner's Manual that shows a few different options for hooking up 2 FRFR PowerEngine Cabs. https://www.tech21nyc.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/PowerEngine_DeuceDeluxe_OM.pdf Essentially your Helix XLR outputs connect to the Cab XLR inputs. Note: All 4 available paths in the Helix Floor are stereo paths, but can be configured to suit many options. Also see the comments in the posts above from @MGW-Alberta and @DunedinDragon for more clarification. Hope this help/makes sense.
  9. Hi, Well, your preset should look much like any other preset in your HX. For acoustic guitar, I use something along theses lines: Guitar > Studio Tube Pre > LA Comp > Simple Delay > Dynamic Plate > Out to LR Monitors. Mix and match the compression, delay and reverb to suit what you need. You could also add a slight chorus or dimensions effect to taste. Some folks like to add an IR of an acoustic guitar to mix into the signal. Basically that’s it. Give it a whirl, and see how it goes. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  10. Hi, IIRC, the Owner’s Manual is only updated on major revisions of the Firmware. For example: Helix 2.0 Owner’s Manual and Helix 3.0 Owner’s Manual. This has been mentioned previously, with reasons given, by Digital_Igloo (Eric Klein) who is the guy who writes the manuals. That’s why you don’t see any mention of the Dynamic Reverbs and new Line 6 amp models etc., listed in the manual. Also, this is a user group, there are no Line 6 staff here and only very occasionally do they visit these forums - (See the “sticky comment” in the black banner stripe at the top of this page entitled “Welcome to the Line 6 forums”). 11. Hi, Since this was first raised, way back in 2018, and neither the OP or the follow on poster have returned to provide any more insight into this issue, I would suggest your best bet is to raise a ticket Customer Support. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  12. Hi, Oliver, You need to update the firmware in your HX One to version 3.70. The issue was fixed as mentioned in the Release Notes. HX One: When using stereo inputs, in certain cases, the right channel would be offset by up to 6dB—FIXED Hope this helps/makes sense.
  13. Hi, Well, taking the USB Cable out of the PC and plugging it into the MBP is the easiest solution, and it would work exactly as it does when connected to your PC. Why complicate things? Oh, yeah - XLR are balanced and 1/4” are unbalance outputs. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  14. Hi, IIRC, mine was in the main Helix box, along with all the other bits and pieces. Shake the box and see what falls out. Anyhow, FYI it’s an 8mm (0.3inch) hex wrench (Allen key). Hope this helps/makes sense.

  16. Hi, Welcome to Helix - along with the info provided in the posts above, Line 6 provided a bunch of “quick start” videos for the HX Stomp. Start here: Hope this helps/makes sense.
  17. Hi, When you perform an update to the Firmware, you are required to perform a Factory Reset. It is the “Reset” that returns all your Global settings back to the default settings. This is why you’re instructed to make backup of all the stuff in your hardware unit prior to the update. Following a successful update of the firmware it is also suggested that you perform a “Restore from Backup” using HX Edit. When using this, you have the option to restore all your “Global Settings” to return them to how they were before. It’s very quick and very simple, but necessary as the new Firmware resets everything to how it was straight out of the box. See page 84. https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a4167cd654eae06274c7/application/pdf/HX Edit Pilots Guide 3.70 - English .pdf Furthermore, regarding your earlier post. 18. Hi, As this is more of an Apple Mac specific question, and to save me from lots of typing, I will refer you to this:- Create an Aggregate Device to combine multiple audio devices https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT202000 Hope this helps/makes sense.
  19. It's not flaming anyone, its just simple facts about various USB ports, connectors, cables and hubs along with all the "voodoo" that surrounds it. It has all been discussed for a very, very long time among the threads in the forum. As pointed out by @PierM in the post above, it about other things that are also connected at the same time. In much the same manner as the update release notes recommend users should not have other audio apps running while updating, and especially with Macs, don't let them lose focus while updating. There are lots of posts on here where people have complained about losing USB connection, only to reveal later that that they were watching YouTube, listening to Spotify or whatever. It happens to everyone at some point I guess. I leave my USB connected to the Helix USB2 from a (USB3) port on the rear of my iMac, and never have a need to disconnect it. All my other USB stuff - Arturia KeyLab61, X-touch Controller, 2 printers, 5 external hard drives, and various other peripheral pieces hook up via a Belikin Thunderbolt 2 Express Dock HD and a USB hub. I know that there are certain thing on my Mac which will cause HX Edit to fail to connect. Simple solution, I don't try to open HX Edit while running a large 3D render in the background. It has been this way since first buying the Helix 2015, and very seldom do I experience USB disconnects, and if I do they generally could have been avoided by a little forethought. This has been done to death - this horse is now dead. Or, type “random usb disconnects” into Google and watch it light up.
  20. Hi. I have seen this error previously, but on a Windows computer. See my comments in the thread - it seems to have fixed it for him. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  21. Hi, again, First off - we seem to have some confusion here. When I mentioned a “bypass switch”, I was referring to the possibility that there was one on the rear of the Vox amp, AFAIK, a couple of Vox amps have that option (custom combo and head -AC30C2(X)/AC30CH) Second, and more concerning is the fact that you say that - “the cable coming off the amp was live and buzzed when we touched the 1/4" plug.” Well, that would seem to indicate to me that the cable wasn’t grounded properly (bad earth). Further to that, you say that you ”didn't literally plug the cable into my guitar”. Huh? When trouble shooting situations like this it is advisable to start with the very basics. For example, start with your guitar, then connect to a cable which is known to be good, attach the other end to the input of the front of the amp. If that provides audio from the speakers then you can progress to add in the HX Effects between the guitar and amp by adding another known good cable. If sound comes out - success, if not check by using another cable. Still nothing? O.K. The HXFX may be the issue, although you say that it works at home with your other gear, that would be weird. Even more weirdness. You also say you were using a borrowed pedal board that does work with the Vox, which didn’t get a mention in the original post. You then say that - “This is a new pedal board to me.”. Curiouser and curiouser! Does this mean that you were trying to chain the HXFX to the other pedals to this “new” pedal board, because if you are, that could be another contributing factor here. As I stated earlier, you need to start by isolating various items in the audio chain to find the issue. Also, when there are strange anomalies like this; when your hardware functions as it should in your home environment, but doesn’t in your rehearsal space, you should ask one simple question. “What changed?”. Without being psychic, it’s quite difficult to figure out what is happening between your home and rehearsal space. It doesn’t make any sense to me. Hope this helps/makes sense to you!
  22. Hi, O.K. a few points require clarification. First up, as noted by @MGW-Alberta in the post above - did the amp work by simply connecting your guitar to the front of the amp? Secondly, what model Vox amp? There are a few variations. Also, you didn't say how you were hooking up to this amp? Guitar > HXFX > Amp input (all at Inst Level), or Guitar > HXFX in Amp FX Loop. I mention the FX loop because IIRC there is a bypass switch on a couple of models at the side of the Send/Return sockets, and if it is set to bypass then you will get no sound at all out of the amp. From the manual AC30C2(X)/AC30CH BYPASS ON/OFF: This is a true bypass effects loop which means if this is set in the “BYPASS” position, absolutely none of your original signal will be running through until it’s switched “ON”. I realise most of this sound obvious, but your post isn't very clear about some this, and when seeking assistance from other users it's advisable to supply as much relevant information as possible. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  23. Hi, In the Global Settings, set the Volume knob to “Phones” and the 1/4" main outputs remain at unity gain. See page 51 Global Settings > Ins/Outs in the HX Stomp Owner’s Manual. https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a418962611d636e7c51b/application/pdf/HX Stomp 3.0 Owner's Manual - English .pdf Hope this helps/makes sense. Note: This is a User Group forum, there are no Line 6 staff here, and very rarely do they visit. They do sometimes hang out in the digital and modelling section of TGP.
  24. HI, There is a whole world of mystery surrounding USB cables and connections , no matter what type we happen to use - you with your iMac and the OP on Windows PC. So when you say - "worked flawlessly with my iMac (USB3 only AFAIK) for 3 years", you will note that there are actually three different versions of USB 3. Micro B Mini B 8 Pin Lightning Type A 2 Type B 2 Type A 3 Type B 3 Type C 3 Oh, and let's not forget USB4. Here's a fun discussion about Helix USB disconnects which started in Jan 2021 right through to Jan 2024. It is well documented that anything to do with updating the Firmware requires people to avoid using USB hubs, or the front ports on certain Windows PCs, etc. It may well be that you have successfully used USB 3, for however long previously, but that doesn't detract from the fact that the Line 6 Helix is designed and marketed as a USB 2.0 device. Deviate from the advice and you may well encounter problems. Just saying. I said it was complicated!
  25. Hi, It is possible to revert back to the previous version (3.70), until there is a fix for this issue. Hope this helps/makes sense.
