  1. The presets are relatively quiet. It isn't so easy to just turn each one up. Some of the snapshots are effecting channel volumes, output volumes, etc.

I was going to add a gain block to each preset... about 4dB to get them to match the rest of my patches. If Glenn is adjusting them, I'd rather just re-download the new patches.

They do sound great, BTW... I haven't been a huge fan of the stock cabs but he managed to get them to sound excellent.

So does this mean he agrees that this set of presets are too quiet? If so, are there plans to release the fixed versions? And why haven't other people complained about that? Odd.

    Check your PM's guys!!!

  2. I bought a Glenn De Laune patch and when i loaded it up to my helix, i went to try it out and when i plugged everything in, it was producing no sound at all and both my amp and my guitar are working fine. Now, not even the factory patches work.

    PLEASE HELP

This issue has been resolved via email. His Helix needed to be updated. He was on firmware 1.12.

  3. Even though all of the guitars I am using lately are passive, I am using the input pad. I find I am able to drive the amps distortion farther without it sounding "unnatural". To my ears it gives me a more 'Creamy" "Smoothed out" overdrive sound. Kind of like compression but without the squash and added noise!! If that's makes any sense.

  4. has anyone tried these included ir's with other amps? my understanding is that they aren't actually cabinet IR's but Glenn has made some sort of tone shaping IR .? correct me if i'm wrong.. i'm just interested to see if you can get a bit of mileage from them, using them outside the preset they are meant for..

Yes absolutely you can use my Custom IR's on other patches. I've done that with great results. Thank you guys.

  6. Hello all! When I first got my HD500X, I purchased a big pack of Mr. Delaune's patches. After messing with them a bit, I finally gave up on them. They all sounded like my L2M's had pillows laying on top of them. I just chalkd it up to "must not be my thing."

I recently purchased a Helix and again, I heard his patches on youtube and read nothing but praise for the fella (and he seems like a really cool guy on his videos). I bit the bullet and bought the big pack-o-patches and am having the exact same issue.

I KNOW this is user error on my end, which is why I am asking for help. Before you say it, yes, I know different pickups, body styles, picking styles etc all matter, but not to this degree. I've been playing for 27 years so I know the difference between my buddy plugging into my rig and sounding different as opposed to what I hear now.

I just downloaded the patches after I bought them and then imported them directly into the Helix. They all show up, but again, sound is completely muffled. As mentioned previously, I am running out of a stage source L2M set up for FRFR.

Please give me some tips if you are able. :)

First off Thank you so much for your support. I sent you a private message with my contact information. We'll get it sorted out for sure. Thank you again Sir.

  7. I think the answer is Yes. With an update Line 6 always addresses "bugs" that were in a previous firmware that have been reported. Just recently with V2.0 the Eb tuning trick used to drop your guitar down to Eb didn't work so good. It worked Very good before the update. Line 6 has addressed that issue and in the new V2.1 update the Pitch Algorithms for the Pitch effects have been reverted back to V1.12 settings. So they are listening. Best thing to do if you think you've found something odd is to post it here so other people can check it our for you.

  8. It can't hurt to try it again. Here are the detailed instructions. Pay particular attention to items 2, 3 & 7.

IMPORTANT! YOU *MUST* FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS TO INSTALL 2.0!

    1. Shut down all Line 6 software as well as any software that streams audio, including, but not limited to: iTunes, Spotify, DAWs, etc.

    2. Use your CURRENT EXISTING Helix application to back up all of your presets and IRs (if you want to keep them). If you’re running Helix FW 1.12, your current Helix application version should be 1.12.

NOTE: You may want to back up individual Setlists so you can restore them to empty setlists without affecting the new 2.0 factory presets.

    3. Quit the CURRENT EXISTING Helix editor application and download and install the NEW Helix editor application (2.00), available here: http://line6.com/software/ This also installs the newest version of Line 6 Updater (1.09).

    4. If you’re using Helix Rack with Helix Control, turn off Helix Control.

    5. Using the latest Line 6 Updater (1.09), update Helix/Helix Rack to the newest firmware (2.00). At the end of the update process, Helix/Helix Rack will reboot automatically and begin rebuilding presets. Wait for this process to complete.

    6. If you’re using Helix Control with Helix Rack, connect and power on Helix Control. The inspector will ask if you want to update its firmware. Press Knob 6 (OK). Wait for the update to finish.

    7. Turn off Helix/Helix Rack.
HELIX FLOOR: While holding footswitches 9 and 10 (middle two switches on the bottom row), turn on Helix.
HELIX RACK: While holding knobs 5 and 6 below the screen, turn on Helix Rack. DO NOT LET THE SWITCHES GO UNTIL YOU SEE THE MESSAGE“Will reset Globals and restore stock Presets, Setlists and IRs…†to appear and then let go of the switches. YOU MUST RESET GLOBALS AND RESTORE PRESETS, OTHERWISE HELIX 2.0 WILL NOT WORK PROPERLY.
  9. About that "CURRENT EXISTING Helix editor app" -

1- I bought this unit used so I really don't know what I'm doing.

2- I couldn't get the app to back up anything (before anyone says it - I know, just another techno challenged user).

3- I thought since nothing would back up that the IR's were part of the factory presets (duh) and obviously I lost about 24 of them that came with the unit from the previous owner. Any chance I can recover them?

4- Why can't I find any detailed instructions about "backing up setlist/presets etc or using the new SNAPSHOTS? I haven't found anything in the users manual. Is there an updated users manual for 2.0?

5- Are the bundles you make going to continue working with 2.0 and future updates? - I am looking at purchasing some of them?

    Thanks, TW

Yes Tom my previous patches are all compatible with Version 2 after ding the necessary updates to the Helix.

  10. You probably just need to update your Helix Editor on your computer.

You may or may not need to do this final step.
As outlined by Line6 on the instructions for the update, read this again carefully please.

  11. So glad I found this thread. I updated to 2.0 but then had a presets that locked up Helix.

I was sure I had installed the 2.0 App. But when I checked my version, it was 1.2. Must have downloaded, but not installed

Thanks to Glenn for troubleshooting for all of us!

You're welcome. I've been sending that same message to lots of folks the last few days. Happy to report all it was is that the Helix editor needed to be updated. The Firmware update goes so deep that the current editor just doesn't have the same functions that the new one does. It's amazing how much stuff Line 6 added here.

  12. According to this, The Helix Editor 2.0 should be the very first thing you download and install before you even update the firmware because you need the latest updater to install the new firmware.
