  1. Many guitar forums are saying the same thing. Some youtube demos have been removed because those retailers said in the video these are Mac Win iOS and Android compatible when they should have said "have Mac Win iOS and Android connectivity via USB, but you can't use the App and stream USB audio at the same time." If you connect to a computer and mobile device even using a USB dual adapter or hub, it doesn't work. They wanted the same mobile features in the app, and or didn't feel like making a editor for Mac or Win. They underestimated their consumers. Marshall did the same thing with their Code line. It was mobile which made sense being Bluetooth ready. Spider V are not BT ready. When I talked to my Sweetwater salesguy he said "take a number for the editor complaint line!" I asked is it that bad? He said it was currently the biggest reason customers were asking about returns. He was telling customers to hang on to their Spider amps because Line 6 should have a computer editor pretty soon. I don't know if that's true or not. A good sign if that is true. Marshall Code purchasers had a fit there was no computer editors. Somebody over there made one for it faster than I have seen a mfg make an editor before. Works good with my Code 50. The windows editor is really nice. I would have sent it back too if there was no intention of making an editor. I don't like editing from a tiny phone screen and I would not buy a $300 tablet for something that cost about as much. That is what users posted on Marshall forum. Line 6 is starting to see some of that here also.
  2. There are some big differences in design from what I hear, and they are not as transparent of playback systems. Spider doesn't have the same FR bandwidth and it sounds much darker.
  3. Follow the votes in Ideascale so they will add a folder option in your App so you can save your files on your mobile device. Presently, the files are saved and hidden in the App. There's no access for those saved files from user sections. The app needs to be changed so it adds a user Folder called Line 6 with subfolders for user data like saved patches. I'd also like a way to save FX presets. Then you can import those to the preset. I Doubt any of this will happen though considering the same requests were made for Amplifi which is 2 years old already. What I have done is save the file with a date stamp. IE. "Plx V1 Dc26 2p" and "Plx V2 Dc27 8A" That is the only way you will see the time stamp. Why there is no user accessible file structure in mobile app is well beyond me.
  4. You can't. Not yet. I have seen a request at Ideascale for tempo adjust.
  5. Haha hey speaking of the tut's at Sweetwater. My rep said the guys that wrote the notes for the Spider V etc that indicated these units would work in Windows and Mac as well as iOS and Android, said they confirmed with L6 rep before they went live with their video demos. I would say I believe them because Andertons and other music co reviews state exactly the same thing. They may have been told the app would work with Win and Mac even though that was not the case. Every retailer site for Spider V clearly lists "USB connectivity for Win, Mac, iOS, and Android" and there is NOTHING in the product descriptions that state app is mobile ONLY. I can't fault Sweetwater for misinformation when they were misinformed. My rep says they also have seen quite a few returns and irate customers because the amp is not Win or Mac usable for the editor. Some of the sales reps at my Guitar Center store said the same thing. "We were told these editors would work in Windows and Mac OS, so that's not our fault!" I went to the store mgr and asked what he thought. He said "if they go back they go back. Sales associates can't s**t a computer editor!!"
  6. Vote in Ideascale for a Win and Mac editor. Maybe enough votes will prompt some action for this. Enough users (100's) at Marshall forums did for the Code and a WIN/Mac editor was created pretty quick.
  7. As far as I can tell anything in the APP that you are saving is hidden. I have not found a file folder in Android that shows where the preset files are hosted. A group on youtube said the Spider V app files are hidden in the APP, not in the user file manager.
  8. That'd be cool if they would provide that, but it's very doubtful. There's a few looking to do a different app for Android as well. They need a Windows and Mac editor. So much easier when recording and so on when you have things in the same OS. Can't use Pro Tools on iPad either and GB is bleh.
  9. No, I didn't see that exp pack. The Asus tablet is USB 2.0, My Surface Pro 4 is USB 3.0
  10. Where does Spider Remote save preset files in Android? I don't even see a folder in File Mgr for this or generic Line 6 anything. Just wanting to know so if I clear cache or other things, I'm not removing my files. Why the "save as" function? Do you have to use both, or does it save to the same location, just under a different naming?
  11. Bought a 240. Spider Remote app works on my Note 4 and Asus TF700, but it has it's share of bugs. Works on Virtual Box in Win, but is really iffy. Loses connection often, doesn't always save settings. Can't really use it offline. Needs an A/B feature so you can test tweaks before and after. Talked to my Guit Cent salesmen today. He says I have 45 days to return it. Salesmen said he hears a lot of complaints from people about the touchy app, it cutting out, and others mad they have to buy a tablet. He said himself, it's kind of lame to not have other more standard OS editors. He offered to replace mine with a Katana (it has pc editors). I said no thanks. I'll see if Line 6 can fix the current app or make one for pc.
  12. OR this can be avoided with an actual Win or Mac editor I have a decent Android tablet (asus TF700) and it works with OTG cable, but it's as finicky as the VB workaround. Hangs up, Spider Remote crashes etc. Just look at posts here and other forums. People not wanting the amps because they are forced to use a mobile app vs PC app. Quite a few people wavering over the idea of using mobile apps and having to buy additional tablets. That $40-$200 and up for a tablet can go toward a G10T or FBV. If you by the options with a Spider V 240 that's $900 there about. A few hundred more for a Helix, AX8, used KPA, Atomic AF12. If only interested in the Spider V 30, yeah ok, because fewer would buy the optional accy's.
  13. What might help is a "preset level" addition to the firmware. Since the models themselves vary in volume based on cab selection, amp type, eq added, comp added, I can see where some may want to try to keep their final sound levels consistent, especially if used on a gig with the FBV. In some of my own presets, I have the comp on with low gain to take down some of the higher volume presets. You can still get the headroom in the amp model, but its a workaround for leveling. Same with using the extra EQ. Manage vol via the gain, just watch the other freq band controls because they are not like you think a typical PEQ would be (interaction is different). Use those sparingly, and you can both shape the sound, and help with consistency. Master Preset Level per patch would be a great addition.
  14. I found this video today on Gear pg site. This can be a workaround. Spider Editor will work on your pc desktop or laptop. I'm not sure if the USB audio can be recorded while using the editor. Have not tried it yet. I doubt it will. This is a way to use a Virtual Box program to run Android. Dependent of your computer, the VB screen size may have limits.
  15. Just got my 240. Tweak the additional EQ. It helps having that on. Another thing is look at those amp model volume levels. Many of them are way down. When you use a real amp like Plexi's JMP and others, the real sweetness comes with that amp volume up. Balance the rest out to match your presets. Some models will need a higher volume in the amp model than others. The amp itself has plenty of headroom. I think the closed back is fine
  16. It's a decent amp. Plenty of areas to tweak and you need to. Try different cabs, mic positions. Add extra EQ. Factory presets are like all factory presets. Some you like, most you won't. Mine might go back if they don't announce a Win PC or Mac editor before my 45 days is up. Using a phone sucks ! WTH were they thinking? Every other brand now selling have editors for Win and Mac. Sweetwater made it seem like the Spider V's had that. Wrong!
