  1. I'm doing some monkeying around with trying to use two amps. I have a Park 75 and a Plexi 100 Normal. When I solo the Park it sounds fine. Strong, lots of gain and sounds like it should. But when I solo the Plexi it sounds weak and pale. Very tinny. Like there is no power going through. I should be able to solo either one and hear how good each one sounds on its own. I've enclosed a screenshot. Not sure of where I'm going wrong:
  2. What was preventing me from finding a Randy Rhoads tone was the fact that I was using a Duncan Custom in the bridge. No not work. Wrong pickup. So I decided to order the Dimarzio PAF 36th Anniversary model and put it in the bridge of my Les Paul. Excellent tone. Now I have the PAF Pro in the neck and the 36th Anniversary in the bridge. I'm using a preset downloaded from Custom Tone that uses both the Park 75 and a Marshall JCM 800. Works beautifully! High gain pickups = this way lies mud.
  3. The problem I have with them is they are very dark. And I'm currently using a Les Paul. So how can I brighten up the speaker some? I love the sweetness they have. They sound sweeter than any other speaker. I try to avoid the equalizers in this unit because they are simply too hard to understand and configure. And the Q Filter at the front of the signal chain idea is not a good one either because that queer device is so strange it makes your guitar sound like a thousand bees that have nasal allergies.
  4. I would not agree with his tone being unattractive. His tone on the Diary album was fantastic. But his tone on the Blizzard album got a little buzzy indeed. And his live tone was very good indeed. I think his tone was way better than Stevie Ray for sure. I never did like Stevie Ray or his tone much. Many other Strat players had a much better sound than he ever did.
  5. Thanks for the Firehawk video. I don't know what a Firehawk is though. But when I get my Les Paul back from the shop I will try some of his settings and stuff and see how my POD responds to it.
  6. This is one thing I would like to accomplish on my HD PRO X. I know there are some Rhoads presets on the Custom Tone site but they just don't work for me. Maybe they aren't interacting in a favorable way with my Les Paul. I've actually come much closer emulating the Yngwie tone (even with my Les Paul too). I've also looked at a few YouTube videos too but so far the tone has eluded me. So if you guys can post some tips on things which you feel are the most important elements to capturing his sound with my HD PRO X, please post your suggestions.
  7. I have never been able to make the T-75 sound good. And isn't that what Yngwie uses? And I love him. But they sound almost too clear and clean and they don't want to break up very easy. So if anybody has any tips to make them give an nice high gain tone that works well for hard and heavy stuff please post. I've used mostly Marshalls in my experiments so far.
  8. I need to find an adapter to take the eighth inch plug and convert it to a quarter inch. The one I have here at home has threads on it. I need an adapter that does not have threads. Something that I just stick the plug into and it clicks in place and I'm done. If you know can you post a link?
  9. I'd like to play along to a backing track using my HD but I would like to have a friend be able to listen as well. So I would imagine I could pick up some kind of adapter to plug into the phone jack on the front of my HD and be able to hook up two sets of headphones? My local Radio Shack closed (the company went bankrupt) so can't do that. But can someone give me a link that would show an example of what I need?
  10. What do you mean not synced? I'm not using a floor pedal or anything, I'm just plugging my guitar into the front of the HD Pro X.
  11. I thought that the Parametric EQ was an Equalizer than allowed you to decide what the frequency bands will be. Now I think this EQ does that in the HD Series, but I don't see how you can set more than one band. I mean, since there is no memory button how do you adjust the settings for one specific frequency and program that into the EQ, and then move on to the next frequency? Without disturbing the settings for the previous band that you just got done setting? I don't see how you can do it since everything shares the common dials.
  12. I have a HD Pro X and I've noticed this thing: Let's say I download a Malmsteen preset from Custom Tone. I load it into my POD and I'm looking at the settings in HD Pro Edit. Now it's using the Park 75. I look at the Amp Settings and the Master is turned completely off (all the way counter-clockwise). So I'm thinking the Master Volume on the amp is shut off completely. Okay, so I turn the Master all the way to the right so it's full on. But there is absolutely no difference in volume at all. The volume has not changed one bit from having the know fully counter-clockwise to full clockwise. What am I not understanding about this?
  13. I decided to reinstall my sound card. Problem solved. Thank You.
  14. A while back I removed my sound card from my computer and decided to just use my POD as my sound card for listening to music. Works fine. However, when I plug my guitar into my POD to practice, my guitar is also coming through my desktop speakers. I really don't want that. I only want the guitar sound coming through my headphones. I have my speaker cables hooked up to the unbalanced outputs on the back of the unit. So is there a way to shut off my guitar so it doesn't come through my speakers?
  15. For years and years I have been using my EMU 1212m sound card and it still works pretty good, but I'm always looking for ways to simplify my setup so I've been thinking of removing that card from my computer and just using my HD Pro X as my sound card. But I would need to know where to plug in my speakers to the rear panel of the HD Pro X. I'm guessing I stick them in where it says Unbalanced Outputs? I'm using quarter inch phono plugs.
  16. Thank You. That is the clarity that is needed. I have it sounding better now.
  17. And when I play a note my note does not sound natural. It sounds like it's too abrupt. Like maybe the note is not coming through the gate naturally. Like maybe something is being or a part of the note is getting chopped off. What am I setting wrong?
  18. Another problem here... Setting the Open high? What does that mean in actual practice? What does high mean? Does setting the Open dial high mean you turn in to the right (clockwise)? Or does it mean you turn it to the left? This is my complaint about all this stuff? It's ambiguous. I can follow setting the Open high if I know what high means as it pertains to the Open dial. Since I don't know this important piece of information, it doesn't help.
  19. Logic and functioning...Problem is it's still mumbo jumbo. Words. Jargon. Buzzwords. This is what I don't like. Someone needs to make a video not using these words. Just something that is easier to understand for those that don't like jargon. Of course, this happens in every profession.
  20. I downloaded a good sounding Rhoads preset from Custom Tone and modified it a bit and saved it. But this afternoon when I went to play there was no sound on my bridge pickup. I played a few chords and the sound appeared really intermittent and cut off. I tried the neck pickup and it appeared okay. I removed the hard gate and the problem vanished. So I'm just clueless on how to set that thing. I like the quietness of it but it's simply too complicated to set up. I think I had my open threshold set all wrong though. It was getting close to the halfway mark, which is like about 80 percent or so and I suspect that because the setting was all wrong it wasn't letting any sound through. I'm gonna do it over and start fresh... How do I set the open threshold? About 60 percent?
  21. Not quite. I was using humbuckers in the bridge of my Strat. Even if a guy does that, it's still not gonna have the power and solidity of a guitar that is made simply more solid...like the Les Paul.
  22. Been playing Strats for most of my life. Been using PODs for probably about 8 years now exclusively. When I was using Strats there were some things that I never could use in the POD because they always sounded horrible with my guitar. The Rat pedal sounded really nasty and raspy, the JCM-800 which many have complained about including me sounded bad, and I also could never use the Plexi cuz I simply could not get enough gain out of it. All three of the above mentioned items I can now use. All of them sound really good with my Les Paul. I get a lot more drive now with the Plexi. The Rat pedal sounds a lot less nasty and bitter, and the JCM-800 is no longer unusable. All this simply because I changed my guitar. I'm quite thrilled!
