  1. Since Line 6 improved their pitch shifting by adding polyphonic shifters, I have been playing bass on my guitar. But is there something I'm missing in the tone of a real bass? Do I actually need a real bass?

  2. I am looking for specific factory presets. One of them is called Doom Vacuum. I can't see it in FACTORY 1 or 2 in Helix Native. Is there somewhere online I can find such presets? i don't want to overwrite my user presets, just import the factory presets I need. Thanks.

  3. Having recently updated Helix Native to 3.0, the first thing I noticed was the massive increase of the Apple beachball when adding an instance of the plugin or opening the DAW project that already contains at least one instance. I didn't have this problem with previous versions of Helix Native, and this is the only plugin I've updated. Same computer, same OS X version, same interface. What gives?

For the first time, I tried to use snapshots with different parameters in the same block - in this case, the amp+cab. But having made changes to the amp in two snapshots (just a bit of of the same preset, it maintained exactly the same parameters, making it look as though I just made two identical snapshots. Nothing in white to indicate alternate settings between the two snapshots. Did I forget to do something? It works on a factory preset (can't remember its name). So why not my user presets?

  4. I use Helix Native a lot, and my audio interface (MOTU 828ES) has a footswitch jack. I was wondering if its possible to use an expression pedal with Helix Native, as you would if you were using an EXP pedal with Native? I see there's a MIDI In indicicator. So, I want to use an EXP pedal to alter the Interval in Simple Pitch. How might this be accomplished?

Just to pi$$ you off... did it work? ;)

Nobody will ever be satisfied with how it's handled... the alternative is complete radio silence, and there would be whining and sniveling about that, too.

"Whhhhhhhhhyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy isn't L6 telling us anything?!?!?!?!?!? I've got 38.7 gigs coming up, and I need to know when I'm gonna get the new Wankelmaster Overdrive model!!!!"...insert indignant huff here...;)

They're damned if they do, and damned if they don't...

Hey, I was just askin'. I tend not to notice this with other software developers. I don't gig either. Besides, I'm far more concerned about the functionality of the hardware/software in these updates  ;-)

I love it! I'm gonna use it every day!

In the UK, it is "R'eh, r'eh, r'eh", as though to suggest "this person is complaining". The most common behaviour I notice is the incorrect use of the word "Like". For example, it should be "He/She said", not "And he/she was like..". We call it Chavspeak (also known as Urban). Abbreviation in text messages is also very common. Ultimately, its just another way to demonstrate we cannot speak our own language.

    I had a bug and thought I'd fixed it with a firmware update. (2.6 .... now 2.7)

    Unfortunately no.

My Helix (floor unit, not rackmount) crashes.

I can find no common denominator except manual input by me, whether the buttons or the knobs or the footswitches.

I can be editing a patch or I can be engaging an algo or I can be simply banking up or down to navigate to a preset I created.

    It just crashes.  Becomes unresponsive.
Whatever patch was running just before the crash still runs but it is stuck there.

There is not a single button or knob or footswitch that has any affect on the unit.
    Nothing except the power switch.
I power it down and reboot the unit and it seems to work fine for a while.
    That for-a-while is inconsistent too.

It can be a day or an hour or a minute.

It's a damned good thing this has not happened to me on stage because I would come unglued.

This is a damned expensive piece of gear and it is not reliable.

That is not acceptable in my world.

Please point me in the right direction to make it reliable.

I'm not interested in dumb, lame explanations about chips and software.
    I only want a solution.

This is not a toy for me.

    It's not some novelty item.

It is a tool that I depend on.
I need to know if I can in fact depend on it.

Have you raised a ticket with Line6 Support? Does it only crash when using a specific preset (factory or user?). Try a complete reset without loading that user preset, and see if the unit crashes again.
